My overall experience in the rental was okay, but maintenance responses were slow, including a period when the heater went down and it took almost a week before getting a service person to visit the home. Also, the closing experience was not very good. I removed my reoccurring payment from the Stokley Properties online portal to avoid continuing to pay rent after I had moved. The portal still took the payment and it took me over 45 days to get a refund - with weekly follow-up. Once I received the payment, my bank put a two-week hold on the check, citing funds not available. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. If I can give no stars I would. My husband and I and our 2 kids are moving from San Diego to Martinez. Karen was our point of contact we were told that there wasn't anyone ahead of us for the property we were looking at, that it would take 3-5 days to get approved. We also mentioned to Karen that we are very time sensitive and having to move in 10 days and we can't go view the property. Do to the fact my husband is in the military and get medically discharged and I currently work full time and neither of us would be able to view the property. Karen said it was no problem they have been in this situation before and to submit our application and we will know in 3-5 days if we our approved. So my husband and I submitted our application right away. Within 24hrs we get a call saying that someone else got approved and that there where 5 applicants ahead of us on top of that they told us we to view the property first. As we mentioned to them before hand that we couldn't view the property because of our situation. If we would've known that there were 5 applicants ahead of us and that we had the view the property we wouldn't have applied for this property. My husband had to argue with them and not to mention they were very rude to get our $100 back. read more

Stokley found me the perfect tenant for my home while i rent it out of a few years. They also were on top of it when we had massive rains in early 2017 and i had a flooding issue. They got it fixed right away and done very inexpensively. As an owner I could not be happier with their service. Some of these reviews I am reading are from previous or current tenants and my own experience is there are a lot of bad and evil renters out there. Not saying all these negative reviewers are evil, but must take with a grain of salt as there are two sides to every story. When it comes to management / supervision of small maintenance items perfection can be extremely hard to coordinate and hindsight is always 20/20. After some of my own bad experiences in residential management hiring Stokely to screen tenants, handle the lease contract, and then deal with tenants and property issues is well worth the money. Peace of mind has a value, and Stokley has done a great job for me. I have recommended them to friends and plan to continue to do so. read more

Cannot get a professional out to my house to get the gas turned back on haven't had water for 5 days now and when you call all they act is like this is the first I've heard of it. If I could rate Stokley Properties a 0, I would. They rented a property to us with the fence broken down, which was an inconvenience since we had dogs. It took forever for them to fix the problem. They gave out personal information on our family to neighbors without our consent. There was a water main burst that took them forever to fix. We were never reimbursed for our inconvenience of staying elsewhere when issues were being addressed. The move out was done with no damage, but we never received any of our deposit that they stole. If I could give this company 0 stars I would!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. I put in an application on a a weekend after viewing the property. I was charged the $50 application fee right away which I was unaware of. When I called the company on Monday to check in about the property I was told that there were 2 other applicants ahead of me but that I wouldn't be charged the application fee unless they were moving forward with my application. I called back a couple of days later and was told they were moving forward with the first applicant. After I realized they had charged me the $50 fee I called back and spoke to a staff member in the accounting department and was told that I would 100% be reimbursed and that it "was not right that you had been charged". I then get an email the following day that the reason they charged me was because they were having issues with getting the first applicants paperwork in. If you are waiting on paperwork then wait.. don't charge an applicant $50 and then go back to the first applicant. Then I get a phone call oh good news the first applicants were too difficult to deal with so we are moving forward with your application. At this point I am confused and apprehensive but the rental was in a nice location so I went to take one more look at it. I got a text from the property manager within seconds of leaving the property oh we can't rent to you because something on your credit check. Keep in mind this company had a copy of my background/ credit check for almost a week . This company is horrible at communicating and total scammers. I am so thankful that I didn't end up getting the rental because this is THE worst experience I have ever had with a property management company. read more

Sorry property management have the worst kind of people working for them with the worst intentions. The harass you to your breaking point even though you work personally with the owner of the property, they use lies and intimidations to raise rents on properties. When something actually needs to be fixed that considers the property unhabitable, they will take up to two weeks without any accommodations and then lie to the owner regarding completion of work. They are shady as they come. I would change the typo of the name but even my spell checker sees how sorry of a company this is. read more

Out of the 10 property managers I've dealt with in my 15 years or renting, these guys and girls have been the best. Work orders are completed fast and extremely courteously. Never fixed the broken window after I moved in. When I called In the plumbing was stopping up, someone cancelled the work order and I had to call the problem in a second time. When I moved out I left it clean. They kept $200 to have 2 cobwebs i missed wiped off the walls and to remop the floor....I mopped my way out the door. My neighbors have a lot of things that need attention but they are ignored because they receive government help.... their rent is OUTRAGEOUS! On renewal the property manager was late getting me the new rent amount. Anything they can do to rip you off and keep your money, they'll do. read more

A home we've owned for 60 years. Obviously we have great attachment to it and wanted it to be managed well.
