I cannot recommend this enough. I went with some girlfriends for a dinner and everything was exquisite. We started with some rolls and they were so good. I had a the steak with truffle butter, Caesar salad, and zucchini lime cake. I legit cannot say enough good things about the whole experience and dinner. They do have a 70 dollar tasting menu, which I ended up not doing because I wanted to try some options not on there. I'll absolutely be back if I go to Savannah again! 10/10 would recommend! I honestly was so taken back. I NEVER leave poor reviews. I came here visiting with my finance from New York. I found this please with raving reviews while researching at home to surprise my fiancé with (he used to be a chef). I made a reservation about a week in advance. We got there, checked in and were seated at a 2 top table. I work at a restaurant so I try to be understanding. After we were sat, the host comes over to us and tells us we unfortunately have to move to a different table but it's, "just as nice." Confused, I got up and asked my fiancé to as well. She moved us to another 2 top, THE EXACT TABLE as the one we were originally sat at but now in between two other customers on each side. I don't mind sitting next to customers, but it was the audacity that a high end restaurant sat me and then asked me to move to the exact same table across the room for no apparent reason. It felt so unwelcomed and rude. I'm in this industry and very understanding however, I would never ask my customers to move once they were sat. It was my birthday, so we went all out. We started with the oysters and moved on to the foie gras. Every bite was heaven. My steak was cooked perfectly, I could not have asked for better. Went to Stone & Webster to celebrate a move. Made sure to make a reservation, being a Saturday night and definitely glad we did as there was a wait for walk ins. The host was friendly and engaged with us about our celebration. Our server explained the menu as it was our first time and we opted to try the Three Course Tasting Menu. We ordered the Calamari, S&W Wedge Salad, Steak Frites, Ginger Creme Brûlée & Thin Mint and two glasses of different red wines. My partner said the calamari was a little flavorless and there was no seasoning in the breading but the texture was fine. The salad was a salad, certainly not sized to share if you ordered off the normal a la carte menu. I opted for olive oil as I'm not a huge fan of green goddess dressing but the toppings were nicely prepared. Bacon was crisp, tomatoes were roasted, the egg was soft boiled. Now for our steak frites we ordered medium and medium rare but the temp was overdone and we received a medium and something much closer to well with almost no pink in it. And it was... just steak. Nothing special, certainly didn't feel like it was a $70 plate of steak. The char on the well done one was a bit thick and while they cut like butter and the fat was nicely rendered, they were a bit lackluster. We added some salt to help the flavor pop a bit more which made a difference but for a steakhouse at that price point, certainly didn't meet expectations. The star of the menu was the dessert. They were well composed and balanced, nicely plated and the perfect level of sweetness. We were also surprised with a pair of macarons to help us celebrate with was a welcome touch and having had the macarons at another JW restaurant, knew they would be good and I was right. A whole star just for the dessert. Overall everything was fine. Nothing spectacular as we hoped and that sentiment sounded like it was mirrored in some of our nearby tables. You are definitely paying for the environment more than the food. Which is cute with the green velour booths and the classic matchboxes. They do a full reset in between each course which provides that touch of fine dining and I wanted to enjoy the food more than we did because the service was good. Would I go again? If someone really wanted to overspend on steak and specifically eat on the JW property then maybe, but I wouldn't order anything we'd had again except the dessert. There are better options for steak in the area and we tried to do something special to celebrate and felt a little let down about the experience the tasting menu offered. Normally that type of menu would showcase the options available and that's not what was delivered. We had reservation for our 15 year anniversary and were seated at a corner table facing the water. After 10 min the hostess comes over and tells us we have to move tables because they made a mistake, didn't ask us, didn't apologize until we decided we were going to leave. Embarrassing a customer in a packed restaurant is never a good look. We didn't ask for anything we weren't offered anything just left with the embarrassing feeling of getting up and moving across the room. I was so disappointed with the service I left after the appetizer and walked to Ruth's Chris (6 minute walk btw). When I approached the door to the restaurant, a waiter was standing on the other side holding menus and staring at the door in anticipation. I thought he was going to open the door, but no. Once I entered and approached him, he pointed to the hostess station. Although the restaurant was quite empty, they quoted me an hour wait for one. I sat at the bar, but the barstools are the type that do not have real backs, just the small little lip. For a high end steakhouse, I was not impressed with the service even at the bar, and decided pretty quickly to try somewhere else. It felt more like a dive bar than an upscale steakhouse. I had a great birthday dinner here. We made reservations but since it was a Sunday it didn't seem too busy but definitely glad we had a reservation. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing with nice seating that's perfect for a date night. Several great wine options available by the bottle and glass. They make it easy to share a meal so we did the 16oz ribeye, pork belly small plate, and spinach gratin with truffle butter in the side. The truffle butter was an amazing add on. The steak was cooked perfectly. This was our last night in town so the portions were perfect so we could leave satisfy and without leftovers. Phenomenal service! Our server Michal took excellent care of our party and explained the menu and the specials. Our party enjoyed each dish that was ordered. Calamari was delicious, I ordered the wagyu steak frites for my entree while someone else at our table ordered the ribeye. They were both good but if you can't decide, I would go with the ribeye over the wagyu. If you're celebrating a special occasion make sure to let them know. BEST steakhouse in Savannah! This is fine dining and it isn't cheap. The quality of food and the mastery of food pairings is just exemplary! Attentive service staff. I started with the seared FOIE GRAS. It came with a blueberry sauce. You won't find this elsewhere. The acid of the blueberry cut into the rich foie gras perfectly! The DRY AGED FILET topped with TRUFFLE BUTTER was spectacular. I highly reccomend the truffle butter add on. It's only a few dollars to make your dinner investment just pop with flavor. Steak was tender and cooked perfectly to my request (med rare). Unexpectedly, the side of CREAMED SPINACH (was called something else) was one of the highlights of the night. Topped with melted cheese and filled with creamy garlic deliciousness. For desert, i ordered PECAN TART with SMOKED ICE CREAM. It was much less sweet than a standard Pecan Pie, which was much to my liking. The pairing with the smoked ice cream (unique) was a magical end to the dinner! They have a respectable wine list and amazing bourbon list. For bourbon enthusiasts, they have full lineup of PAPPY!!! TheY have a special seating area in an old plant smoke stack located just outside of the restaurant inner entrance. It is really neat space. Stopping in for an app and a cocktail on New Years '24. Crazy busy and a super small bar makes for a patience test but we actually didn't have to wait too long all things considered. Grabbed a seat at the bar and had some drinks and were able to snag an app from the New Year's Eve price fixed menu...the deviled egg and caviar cake. So yummy! Not too salty from the caviar and the deviled egg really kicked it up. Craft cocktails were top notch. Great spot with really good food and drinks. Ambiance was high end but not stuffy. Stone & Webster is the best upscale restaurant in Savannah. Upscale dining is one of my favorites, but to be upscale, the price point needs to match the service, ambiance, and quality of food/drink. This place excelled in all three! We came to celebrate a major milestone, and were offered champagne while we waited. So kind! We got to sit in a back corner booth, which offered a great view of the restaurant. Each food item was better than the last. The food tower was so fresh, and the various accouterment provided paired so well with everything. We also got a ribeye and that might have been the most melt in your mouth ribeye we've ever had, perfectly cut and not too much fat on the cut. Just perfect. We also got a side of truffle fries, and you can never go wrong with that. And I can't forget, we started with the crispy pork belly- WOW. The flavors worked deliciously. I sent it back and after waiting another 30 min to get it back same steak it was still undercooked. Steak was well cooked and sides of tomatoes and spinach gratin were well made and to our liking. But overall, this felt very touristy and transient. Dinner Monday 3.25.24 6pm We treated our last day of vacation as an "open skate" day with no formal plans. I regret that as I feel I could have avoided this restaurant if I had more research time. I don't like writing reviews like this but I can't sugarcoat it. We wasted a last dinner in this restaurant when there are so many amazing options in this city. First, this 3 I am awarding is generous in my opinion. Second, I look to management on why our dinner was the way it was not necessarily our server. Pros *Gorgeous restaurant *Menu varied enough to hit the spots *River location *Steak with Béarnaise & Crab was delicious and cooked to requested temperature *Salmon was one of the best salmons I have had out. I typically do not order it out because it isn't cooked properly even at nicer places. Nice sear with caramelized points yet moist and perfect inside *Dining partner said Burrata Beet salad was great *Seated in a booth as requested *Beautiful Schott Zwiesel stemware. I tasted no chili and they barely had flavor *Bread served was nothing special. Round butter pat with parsley oil and stamped logo was nice We weren't blown away but we did like our entrees. However, our real issue with this meal was the long absences of our server. I am not exaggerating when I say at one point we had not seen her in over 30 minutes. I was contemplating ordering an after dinner drink but after all the time wasted towards the end of the meal I was irritated, didn't feel welcome, and wanted to leave. This place is NOT cheap. We spent just under $300 for two people. She did apologize upon her return and said she had been in the smokestack. It is troubling that no member of management, or even another server, noticed that we were sitting there with no help for an extended period. Plates were empty, glasses were empty. No one even said goodbye to us as we left. I am not clear on what held her up in the stack, but, they need a plan for when that happens so other customers aren't left for dead. We tip 25% on up when we are out for good service. I think we left a 16 or 18% tip. I haven't done that in 20 years. This restaurant mgt needs to take a hard look at their customer service and processes especially given the high price they charge. If this server was experiencing a challenge handling her guests properly, how were you not aware? We will not be back. read more

First and foremost, this is now my favorite steak house in Savannah, hands down. We made same day reservations for 5 and were greeted and sat immediately. It's located on the back riverside of the J.W. Marriot, which was a bit confusing in the directions. The restaurant itself has a very rustic modern 1940s vibe with that dark evergreen velvet seats and gold accents. Decent amount of seating with an open kitchen. Fresh local bread was served with what tasted like fresh churned butter. I ordered the shellfish tower and S&W wedge salad, so good! We recently celebrated our anniversary at this establishment, having made reservations several days in advance with a credit card hold. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the beautifully designed open dining area featuring floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the museum within the indoor mall. However, the ambiance was not consistently maintained, as we walked by the kitchen area that hosted a more casual and relaxed atmosphere before heading through a short hallway and into an intimately lit dining area. We were initially seated in the corner at a toddler table adjacent to the server station and restroom, offering a view of a flat green wall (and my husband's face-which I love! But I wanted to be seated next to him). This table would be more appropriate for someone who just walked in hoping to get a seat in the dining room. This isn't a well thought out location for someone celebrating their anniversary. We were relocated to a booth in the middle room, situated near the open kitchen. Unfortunately, the service fell short of expectations, with our server appearing impersonal and inattentive, particularly in regards to refilling our water glasses, checking on the temperature of my husbands steak, and overall timing of the dinner. Additionally, the server seemed to favor a neighboring table with more enthusiasm and personality. While the oysters were a highlight, the quality of the entrees was disappointing. The 16oz ribeye ordered by my husband lacked quality in terms of cut, although the garlic butter was a redeeming feature, I've had similar cuts and quality at a Texas Roadhouse. The steak was barely an inch thick, and the halibut was overcooked. Given the subpar experience and cost of approximately $260, we opted to take dessert to go and will not be returning. In a notable display of integrity, since we were in a hurry to escape this experience my husband left his wallet at the table. The restaurant was recommended by the JW Marriott front desk and was super convenient as it was located just down the hall from the hotel lobby. We missed our original reservation but we were easily able to come in at a later time. We loved the attention to the service we received and the server was knowledgeable on all ingredients. It's always hard to eat out with all of our dietary restrictions but it was no problem for the cook and server to make suggestions. All of our sides were modified to be dairy free and minimally seasoned. The adjustments did not leave us disappointed at all and everything was so delicious. We had the spinach, mushrooms, and Brussels sprouts. My husband had the she crab bisque and tomahawk as is and I had the diver scallops also dairy free. We all left full and satisfied. read more

Okay first off our server TJ at the bar is excellent! She is sweet, personable, went above & beyond to accommodate us!! Now the food and accompaniments are not on her. So here I go ... The dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives ... were NOT freshly stuffed with blue cheese. At any chophouse, especially a high-end steakhouse they should stuff the olives with blue cheese prior to the oncoming shift. This makes ALL the difference. We ordered beef carpaccio, which lacked flavor, and did not have any toast points or any accompaniments to place the beef carpaccio upon -- it had an unusual mushroom here and there. It Truly needed salt. The traditional Caesar salad which at most high and steak houses would be great- this was completely lackluster. It lacked flavor and a true delicious Caesar salad dressing, which is what gives it flavor. The anchovies were placed on top and thus you did have anchovies taste throughout, which will not appeal to all. Not impressed ... sorry, as I love to leave great reviews. OK, so my goodness this is what I mean about our server TJ who is absolutely fabulous. She brought me a happy birthday plate with two wonderful macaroons on it. The staff were all really helpful. I had the worst headache here and they went above and beyond to help me. When it comes to the food, almost everything is amazing. I got their diver sea scallops which were cooked perfectly (it's always a shame when some places overcook scallops and it gets rubbery). The sauce was savory and really hit the spot. I also was able to try their oysters and a mocktail. The oysters themselves are fresh although I wish they had other accoutrements besides just lemon and lemon juice. The mocktail was a tad too sweet - I was offered either mildly sweet or sweet and even though I chose mildly sweet, the drink was almost like candy. Overall would recommend!
