Great little wine bar, even tho it seems to be hidden. (Maybe that's because I'm not from around here). The Moscato was delicious. They have good happy hour specials from 4-6pm M-F. They have two patios, which are nice and oversee good scenery. read more

Friendly people there. My brother and sister in law had their wedding there not too long ago and they did a really nice job. The staff was very attentive to our needs. They were very accommodating when my brother and sister in law had some of their wedding pictures taken in the bar. Stone Cliff is also a nice place to stop by for a glass of wine or a beer - they have a good selection from local breweries (such as Millstream). I'd certainly use them for a special event such as a wedding. read more

This is a great place for a group or a couple. Great wine and tasty snacks/appetizers. Live music in the evening is a great touch. Outdoor seating during the warm season right on the riverwalk. For some reason my gps had a difficult time getting me to this place. However I was so glad we found it. It's a nice little place in an old brewery building. Comfortable seating offered indoors and a nice patio area outdoors. Cute decor with several wine related items for sale. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. A wine tasting was offered for $5 which included 5 wines of your choice and a souvenir glass! ( what an amazing deal!) They also had a small choice of appetizers available. Our group had the antipasto and bruschetta. Both were very tasty. This was s great experience and an ideal place to meet up with friends. I look forward to my next visit to Stone Cliff! read more

The wine is good. Named after the fruit it was made with. The atmosphere was decent. It has a bar feel. The service could use some work. It wasn't that busy, maybe 4 groups and 5 waitresses and we sat longer than we should have before they greeted us and took our order. Decent experience none the less. read more

We liked it at first, tried to do a wine tasting and it quickly went downhill. We came today at 12:30, it was just getting super busy, and got a table. After about ten minutes a worker came by, asked if we'd been helped and then got the three of us wine tasting menus - the menus were ones where you check off in white board erase markers which wines you wanted. After another five minutes a different server came by, asked us for our first picks, came back within five minutes with the first tasting round. We then waited ten minutes before a third different waiter came by and got us our second tasting. We waited about twenty minutes before having one of our party go up to the bar to get our third tasting, rinse and repeat for the fourth and fifth tastings. We used the same wine glasses the entire time, they didn't rinse them or anything. The last worker to help us was very nice and apologized for the errors (blond short-haired woman), got us our last tasting and actually brought it to our table, came back with the check and stuck around till we paid so we knew that we wouldn't be left hanging again, was the only reason we tipped. Unfortunately my glass of the house wine (La Cresant) has several pieces of cork, my mother's glass of the same didn't. Was a great wine though! Don't know if it's preference but we all tried the Wild Pineapple and did not like it one bit, just gross. A table next to us ordered an appetizer right before we sat down, they got their app after 40 minutes (southwest chicken egg rolls). Overall, they were very busy but were not organized. It seemed as though servers didn't have specific areas, everyone just helped anywhere when they had a free second and tables got lost. Great ambiance and atmosphere. The wine tasting is $5 to try five different wines, was a pretty good deal if not for the disorganized and frustrating poor service. Was fun to try the wines and they were very good quality overall, we even bought a bottle, organization/service just needs needs to be improved. read more

Very very very disappointing.Such a beautiful piece of property and the venue is very very welcoming and appealing.Staff was very friendly!!!! However,we walked in and found Very comfortable chairs to sit down and relax in, and soak up the air conditioning on this very warm day.we wanted to do a wine tasting and possibly sit and enjoy a bottle of wine indoors and we were literally forced for no reason whatsoever to get up out of our seats and go outside to their back patio to do the tasting. I'm sorry but that makes zero sense to force your customers to go outside if they choose to do a tasting.The wine is not good at all as well.This is only my opinion and I've been to a lot of wineries all over and I've never cringed after each sample of wine before in my life. read more

A very pleasant experience in a wonderful location on the Mississippi River. We enjoyed checking out the Star Brewery historical information, doing a wine tasting, then having a nice glass of wine and some really good appetizers. The food was great - we has bruschetta and chicken salad sliders. After we ate, we had a nice stroll on the River Walk. Definitely recommend. read more

I've had some good times and good service at stonecliffe before but yesterday, Friday evening, the service was very bad, food was mediocre. Gusty wind came up and blew glasses that were abandoned on the patio all over the stone floor. We went into the bar to get wine and we're told someone would come out to take our food order... nobody ever came. read more

We have a party of 6. Staff office or the menu as it was our first time here.they were only serving lunch for another five minutes I managed to squeeze all of us we have a cheese for the house. Great place, tasting was $5 for 5 samples and then almost were $4 a glass afterwards. They had mostly sweet wines, and if you like sweeter wines you'll love this place! They also had a good beer selection for those who don't like wine. Great service and good atmosphere. read more

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Dubuque and wanted to do the wine tasting while waiting for our hotel room to be ready. We really enjoyed it! The manager and staff member there were super friendly and welcoming. There was not one wine we tasted that we did not enjoy! They gave us popcorn and oyster crackers and chocolate to nibble on with the tasting and that was great. Both of our favorite wine that we tasted was the Riesling so when we finished the tasting of 5 different ones we both got a glass of it. Then it said there was a special this month of 20% of a bottle of Riesling so of course I got a bottle. They also gave me two wine glasses with the purchase and the bill ended up being like 40$ for all of it. We could not believe it and we were so happy we decided to check it out! Great experience and would recommend it to others. We definitely want to come back during the summer and enjoy the outside area! read more

Wine was mediocre at best. The customer service was TERRIBLE. I was ignored. I don't think the lady behind the counter (whom I NEVER got her name because she never took the time to introduce herself ) never made eye contact, scoffed my wine choices and seemed more preoccupied with chatting with her friends at the bar. Save your time and money! 5 miles away is Sunset Ridge Winery - great wine, GREAT customer appreciation. I will NEVER come back here!! The free popcorn was 10x better than the wine and 100x better than the service!! If I could give 0 stars and still write a review, I would!!! read more

Sat at the bar to do a wine tasting and was moved to the outdoor patio instead. The staff was friendly. The wines are mostly sweet fruit wines, which I enjoy but my husband generally does not. We both ended up finding a couple of wines that we liked enough to buy a few bottles. It was a pleasant activity for a quiet summer afternoon. We held our wedding reception at Stone Cliff Winery this past September, and could not have asked for a better experience! Jodi was so incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, and made sure everything went smoothly. This is a gorgeous space with tons of great character, and the fact that Stone Cliff grew the grapes and created the delicious wines for our wedding made the whole experience absolutely amazing! Jodi and the other ladies taking care of everything were just spectacular - they made our wedding beautiful, special and totally stress-free. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. The actual tasting room of Stone Cliff is not just about the wine, I felt it was the overall experience. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the day I was there, both the owners, husband and wife, were present and socialized with the crowd. They seemed the epitome of midwest hospitality, and the wine tasting was as informative as it was fun (even the sweet wines!) Bob, the husband, offered my husband and I, as well as another couple, a tour of the facilities which was fantastic! I can't emphasize enough how friendly the owners were. After the wine tasting and tour I ordered a glass of the cabernet and my husband ordered a beer (in a wine bar! he was thrilled!). It was enjoyable to peruse the gift shop selection while sipping an watching the staff interact with customers (we are self proclaimed people-watchers). Overall--definitely recommend! We'll be going back and bringing friends and family! read more
