Stone Creek roasts all of their own beans right here in Milwaukee at their factory cafe, and it makes a difference. My partner and I trust that any bag of coffee from Stone Creek will be quality, and when you've invested a decent amount into a home espresso bar set up, that means something. The service is always quality. I love espresso art and the environment, so whenever I go I ask them to make my drink in a for here cup or mug. They always accommodate and always make sure my name is spelled right (sometimes folks at other shops will write Abby, or Elli, or Amy...). When the line is long on the weekends, they're still incredibly prompt about preparing food and drinks. Clearly the whole town agrees because this place is always poppppin. Like the kind where it can be hard to get a seat. If you don't find anything inside, definitely suggest their patio seating too, as it's situated in the center of the quiet Downer neighborhood with plenty of foot traffic going by. In my most recent visit, I of course had to snag some seasonal (fall) menu items. I'm a sucker for pumpkin spice lattes, but truly all coffee shops make them too sweet in my opinion. That said, I instead opted for a regular latte with *one pump* of pumpkin. It was perfect. As for food (pretty sure this is the only Stone Creek location with a full kitchen!)... the Pumpkin Polenta was speaking to me. It was comprised of parm pumpkin polenta, roasted root veggies, brussels, brown butter sage sauce (YUM), microgreens and a sunny side up egg. Honestly, fabulous. It was the perfect serving size, had tons of great flavor, and hit the spot for the season. New favorite breakfast sandwich!!!! A classic bacon egg and cheese with a twist is right up my alley and for under 10$ including a coffee? Definitely a must try. Ran into a local while waiting in line and was recommended their raspberry cacao beans and had to immediately add those to the cart. Facing the street outside is a to go window that you can order at or pick up a mobile order from which is super convenient, especially if you are planning to take advantage of their spacious, partially covered, dog friendly patio with your pup like I was! As for menu items I really enjoyed the iced lavender latte and monkey bread danish, both of which had just the right hint of sweetness and not too much. The prices seem super reasonable especially as there was no extra charge to make my drink iced and the danish was much bigger than I thought it'd be. So glad to have a local coffee roaster on Downer! And honestly, I can't imagine a better use of this space. If you've never been to Stone Creek, this location is a definite must. Though I'm not an avid coffee drinker, I can say with confidence that Stone Creek has one of the best chai latte's in town. Their matcha latte is also superb. They have plenty of other offerings besides coffee, though. And they have a full kitchen for the morning/daytime hours. Speaking of hours, I love the fact that they open up at 5:30 AM, a full hour earlier than most Colectivo locations. For us morning birds, this is certainly a huge plus. As I mentioned though, this space is really something. I already know I'll be spending plenty of warm days enjoying their patio or chilling in the AC indoors. They also have an in-between space that is technically indoors, but with the large garage doors open to the outside. The space is clean, fresh, and thoughtfully designed. I personally feel their graphic design can't be rivaled - with their many, incredible posters all prominently displayed. Went here to do some work one day as I only had Stone Creek once before the location had closed by me in Bay View. This is a very cute location. It was a nice summer day so the garage doors were open and plenty of people filled inside and outside. The atmosphere was cozy and cute. I also love that they have a walk-up window outside to take orders to go. I got a latte which was delicious but I was also recommended by one of the workers to try this waffle with savory foods on it. I was very skeptical of it as I do not like mixing flavor profiles much but I decided to just go for it. It was SO good. The place: Stone Creek on Downer is great. This one has a kitchen. Inside there are two rooms, one that has windows that look out onto Downer (perfect for dog-watching, there are lots of dogs in this neighborhood) and the other that's near the front counter. Near the front of the place there's a covered but open area, you know, where garage doors or something open up, and then a front porch. The location: It's obvious that Downer needs a coffee shop and this Stone Creek is perfect. Parking available on the residential streets as well as on Downer itself. The food: Blueberry lemon waffle for lunch the other day. Delivered to my table, this waffle was beautiful. Cut in half and covered in cream cheese, drenched in blueberry compote. The taste of blueberry and lemon is perfectly balanced. The warm waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfection. The drinks: The last couple times I've been here, I got the blue moon frozen latte which is a seasonal drink. It's a blended texture and more green than blue in color. I can't identify what's in this drink, but I love it and I love the mystery. It's rich and fresh. Highly recommend. Next time: I need to get another of those blue moon frozen lattes. Because it's amazing. I can't resist. I'm also curious about the rest of the menu. We shall see! read more

I don't drink unsweetened and/or black coffee. Cream with coconut sugar is my go-to! But...if I had to drink it unsweetened and, sadly, sugarless, this coffee (the dark roast in which I am currently drinking), has the perfect amount of nutty goodness and acidity to drink in the raw.
