I'm an avid Stone Creek Coffee drinker, but I haven't been to this location in so, so long! I feel like perhaps it got a mini facelift? I'm not sure but either way, it's got a cozy vibe. Love the many plants, big windows, and little fireplace seating spot. They roast really great coffee, so per usual I got myself a skim milk latte and I added their pistachio cardamom syrup this time. Really love that stuff (so long as it's not too much) - adds just the right amount of extra flavor. Was also in need a of a quick bite so went for one of their quiche options. Don't get me wrong, love their bakery items, but I think it's really great they have these when you're after a little more nutrients and protein. This sundried tomato and feta one hit the spot. Baristas were wonderfully friendly, and the atmosphere was enjoyable for me to post up with my laptop for a bit and get some work done. Can't go wrong visiting any Stone Creek location, imo! read more

I'm writing to share an unpleasant experience I had at your Stone Creek Coffee location on Oakland Ave in Shorewood this Friday (1/23) around 4-5 p.m. My husband and I ordered one coffee and one latte. The shop was not busy at the time--there were only about four customers total, and two baristas working. After finishing part of our drinks, I felt a bit dehydrated and politely asked for two cups of hot water--one for me and one for my husband. The female barista responded by asking, in a rude tone, why I needed the water. After I explained, she got the two cups of water and practically threw them at me, spilling water all over the counter. She then immediately turned away, smiley and began chatting with another customer. I was surprised and honestly hurt by the way I was treated. I don't understand why such a simple request was handled with such dismissiveness. Every customer deserves to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. read more

This Stone Creek is always reliably good. The service is friendly. The food options are tasty and suitable for a meat eater or a vegetarian. There are coffee and tea drinks for every taste and cider. The space is light and bright and perfect for sipping and chatting or getting some reading done. read more

How have I never reviewed the Shorewood Stone Creek? It's the Stone Creek that's closest to me. I like the Colectivos for hanging out and people watching, but the Stone Creeks are better for reading or studying. They're more intimate and a little quieter. Stone Creek's coffees have a distinctive flavor profile also. As of today (6/7/20) the lobby is open for ordering and there's some patio seating available. It's also late spring/early summer and perfect patio weather. I didn't stay as long as I might have under normal circumstances, but it was nice to sit and have a drink outside. How had I never tried one of their frozen lattes? I got the matcha and it was tasty. The lattes (hot or iced), with some unique homemade flavors (like bergamot) available. Though a go-to of mine when I want something less fancy is the cafe au lait. I'm thankful that this Stone Creek is here, near other places I do business and a nice walk from where I live. I won't take it for granted now. read more

I live pretty close to Stone Creek. The interior design is charming. Go here frequently enough. The baristas are all so friendly! Love the point system of how each dollar goes towards a cup of coffee/one dollar one point. Now for the sad part: Getting a standard latte is bad. They have a few special ones they make well, but standard and seasonal ones aren't that great. They rarely update the seasonals (which I get is a small shop, maybe doesn't want to feel too corporate or whatnot), which is kinda dull, IMO. Danishes and other food do the job, but it's so over-processed. Some of the coffee is good and reliable; others are not. Would go here for the friendly staff and 'old reliable' coffee. read more

Great local coffee shop with a cozy atmosphere and good, friendly service. They have your standard coffee and tea drinks as well fun more unique drinks as well. I got the pistachio cardamom latte. It was not too sweet and had just the right amount of spice. I would definitely get it again! They have a variety of pastries though I haven't tried any yet. You can also purchase bag of roasted coffee to make at home. There is plenty of free street parking nearby and a small lot directly behind the shop. read more

By far my favorite coffee shop on the east side. The food is amazing (highly recommend everything but my favorites are the sausage and egg sandwich, toast and jam and the sweet potato black bean sandwich) and the staff is very friendly. There is plenty of workspace along with outlets to have a productive work session. There prices are fair and love that you get free refills on the coffee when dining in. I love (and miss) my neighborhood coffee shop. I'm in here a lot, to the point of where I sometimes feel like Norm Petersen, but that speaks to how fantastic this little joint is. While there might not be an abundance of seating, there is a fantastic crew of baristas, delicious coffee options, and plenty of tasty pastries and such. There's even a fireplace, which is lovely during the coldest days of winter. I also love the addition of the outdoor seating, which is lovely during the warmest days of summer. I have tried so hard to like Stone Creek Coffee... But just cannot. I want to. Local coffee roastery, how can you not? Let me explain. I've been at this location and the one near Sendik's in Whitefish Bay and both have been disappointing. I consider myself a lover of drip coffee but Stone Creek's coffee just doesn't do it for me. Its barely drinkable. Even my favorite single origin, Kenyan.. Which is quite interesting because I can somehow manage to drink my instant coffee out of my coffee machine at home but not Stone Creeks... One day I was just like, "You know maybe you don't like the coffee.. BUT i must like the mixed espresso drinks".. Just syrup, milk, and espresso. What could go wrong? I tried some raspberry mocha drink and I absolutely hated it. Undrinkable, once again. I hate being so negative but honesty is a virtue... To end on the positive note, I do like the style of the two places and Stone Creek's mission to give to the community through non-profit organizations is wonderful. read more

I usually frequent another popular MKE coffee shop for chai and it doesn't even compare to Stone Creek. So good. Stop in. Shop Local. Trai out Stone Creek. (get it! Every time I've gone, I've been pleased with the quality of my drink, the service, and the atmosphere. I don't go often since I'm not in Shorewood much, but when I am, I make sure to stop here. I want to rate this place higher. It's my neighborhood coffee shop, and usually my #1 pick. But something is just not right. The good: -UWM student discount! Make sure you show your ID - I was coming here for ages before I knew about it. -Cardamom spice lattes. I am obsessed with cardamom and am so happy this place offers this. -Loyalty cards. Get a punch card and your 10th(?) drink is free! -The staff. Most are super cool! -The fireplace! And blankets on the chairs in front of them. There are also little tables for your laptop. A+. The bad: -Not everyone makes my drink right. Last time I couldn't finish it, it tasted so bad. So depending on who is making them the drinks can be hit or miss. That's unacceptable for a $4-$5 drink. BUT they will re-make it if you ask them nicely. -Crowded! Oftentimes every table is taken. Something about the layout makes it a rough place to study, read or even spend much time there. That may just be me, but I don't like the ambiance. Overall: a solid 3 stars. I still go, but less and less often now. read more

I've always had a great experience here. The baristas at this location are friendly and know what they're doing. Plus, they're efficient. They can pull a decent shot from the La Marzocco machine without much effort, unlike most Alterra's I've been to. Plus, the espresso-shots-per-drink ratio is higher for most of their traditional cafe drink offerings. Their pastry case is limited, but what I have had from it is fresh, although it can be a little on the sweet side (with the exception of the Power Scone). This may not be the hip place to go and pontificate about the evils of corporations while typing away on your Macbook, but Stone Creek knows how to run a socially responsible coffee operation and, in my opinion, has the best tasting espresso and drip coffee in the city. The cafe here is pretty small, but it's arranged in a way so that you don't feel cramped. I've rarely seen this place super busy, so this might be a nice change if you are looking for a place to sit and read. read more

Went to this location for the first time yesterday and was very pleased! Easy parking, cozy interior, and wonderful staff. Had a snafu with my credit card and they offered to serve me anyway, free of charge. Luckily, I got things straightened out before I left so I was able to pay after all, but the gesture spoke volumes to their customer service! I've come here a few times now, it's definitely a cool little place. I would always get something boring like a dark roast black coffee but the coffee itself is very good. The only thing I would recommend if you're going to sit down is bring shades as the windows are everywhere and sunlight beams into the whole place, which is really nice but can definitely be a bit blinding. read more

The most annoying thing about this place is that on the beautiful fall day, when outside temperature is pleasant 76 F, inside the coffee shop you need a winter jacket. AC is not even necessary on such a day...They keep it very cold, I guess, for the busy staff, but if you sit down and do not move you will be shaking cold in 5 minutes. read more

Love going here to catch up with my friends from high school! It's cozy and the food and coffee is great. It has a small seating area in comparison to Collectivo, but it's a quiet atmosphere! My friends can get loud when talking so bring your headphones if you especially want peace and quiet while reading or typing away on your laptop. read more
