Third Ward is a great location to walk around and stop in here for coffee. Coffee these days is expensive, but I'm not sure whether Valentine was worth the price. I enjoy lattes on the sweeter side and with flavor - my caramel latte wasn't bitter, but barely tastes of caramel. Interior is nice with some tables to sit and do work. read more

Bustling on a Sunday morning in June, Valentine is a cute little coffee shop with a good brunch menu. It's on a corner in an older building with steep steps up to it, so be cautious if you have mobility issues. The line was pretty long at 9AM, but moved decently fast. The wait for ordered food was a lot longer. The coffee was strong but not particularly good, and the food was just ok. I found Valentine Coffee while I was walking around after an appointment. I love coffee so it was a no brainer for me to step in and try it out. The bakery items all looked DELICIOUS, I wish I could have tried them all then. The staff I dealt with was also friendly all-around as I had questions and was pretty indecisive (sorry!) about what I wanted. So, the staff was wonderful, my order was quick AND delicious, and I will definitely come back. First time stopping in to Valentine's. It was a Saturday morning, and the Third Ward was bustling with activity. The coffee shop is on a busy corner with plenty of foot traffic. It's a beautiful brick building with a welcoming entrance and large windows. Inside, there's lots of natural light from the windows all around. You're greeted by merchandise displays as you wait in line. Seating includes a few small tables for two and counter spots for individuals. It was a bit of a wait until I got to the cashier to place my order. I received a friendly greeting and some helpful guidance while ordering my favorite London Fog Tea Latte and a Chocolate Chip Scone. I sat at a small table while they steeped my tea and finished the drink. It took a little while for my beverage to come out, as there were other people ahead of me who had ordered beverages and custom food items (breakfast sandwiches, etc.). When the tea latte arrived, it was excellent -- little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam. The scone was good too -- dry and crumbly, like a scone should be -- though I should have asked for it to be warmed. The noise level was a bit high, but with AirPods I was able to comfortably read my book. A lively but comfortable spot. read more

I was tempted to buy another shot of espresso to add to my Iced Latte so it tasted like an latte at least but decided to once I got home with my own espresso machine. I made my way to Valentine Coffee on a Wednesday morning before work and they were fairly busy. I've never been but they roast their beans so that always gives an A in book. It's a small shop but a nice amount of seating. Their syrups are homemade so I got a lavender latte and it was great. Not too sweet or sugary and you can taste the lavender. They have a nice selection of baked goods so I opted in for the cookie dough brownie and it was amazing! Food and drink get a 10/10 in my book. The service was great. There's a small kitchen cranking out egg sandwiches, burritos and such, and it's paired with cheery service. Enjoy the vibe here; it's a cool vintage-y meets-industrial but not cloying space with tall ceilings and lots of windows, and a great spot to work in. I didn't get a chance to try the food but the coffee was amazing. The baristas were very kind and welcoming. The cafe was also very aesthetically pleasing. The only downside is the price. The small latte in my hand makes me look like a giant but I payed over $7 for it. I would definitely come here again but not on a regular basis or during a rough month financially. Also bonus: they closed the card early for Easter. I appreciated this because though I wanted to stay longer, it allows for their employees to spend time with their families if they celebrate. Valentine Coffee Roasters is one of our family's favorites. For convenience, we've typically gone to their location in Washington Heights. But, recently we've found ourselves at this location more often due to the fact that they have more food options. Their espresso is perfect. I typically get a mocha or one of their flavored lattes. They make all of their syrups in house. So, what they may lack for variety, they more than make up for in quality. They typically have caramel, miel, vanilla, and then a seasonal option. This summer, the seasonal option is strawberry. Honestly, I wouldn't normally order a strawberry latte but knowing that their syrup is house made with quality ingredients, I went for it. I'm so glad I did! It was a strawberry infused delight. Their food options are always solid. Some highlights include their veggie breakfast burrito (vegan chorizo, beans, vegan egg, sweet potato, red peppers), the build your own breakfast sandwich (with choices of sauce, including pesto or rosemary mayo), and their seasonal toast (currently hummus with cucumbers and spinach). The service is always friendly and efficient. The seating isn't plentiful but we've always been able to find a comfortable spot. Get to it! read more

Another entry in the "local chain" coffee shops. Took a walk from our hotel to the lake in the morning and stopped in to fuel up. The best thing about this spot is the location right on the edge of the Third Ward and a few blocks from the Public Market. It's a nice, but small, shop with cafe-style brunch food and your standard drinks. There are a few tables to hang out and work but not a lot so I imagine it fills up pretty quick at busier times. The service was fine so no complaints on that front. The coffee itself was decent but probably my least favorite of the spots we tried on the trip. It wasn't bad by any means but I'd call it "unremarkable". I'd like to try their food at some point because that might bump it up the list but for now I think I'd head someplace else if making a special trip to grab some coffee. read more

Sublime vintage corner coffee shop in downtown Milwaukee took me by surprise, Valentine is a quint blend of old fashioned small space, comfortable seating, and friendly service. Menu matched the glorious bright vibes. I had just done coffee earlier down the block so went for the Asian green brew with peach. They happily filled my metal travel tumbler, topped with rich house made cream that welcomed matrimony with the matcha and peach, like a decadent dessert crumble for a summer's picnic. Had me cracking down on myself to resist sipping it all away before I made it out of the city, this is the rare cultured culinary cuisine that makes Starbucks look like a Fisher Price kitchen. The other day I needed a place to pop open my computer and get a quick caffeine fix. I went for my usual latte with almond milk, but this time was drawn the power scone. Great choice by me! It was better than your typical scone, more moist and filled with tasty extras like cranberries, oats, and nuts and seeds. Really enjoyed it and thought it complimented the coffee nicely. Yeah this place is the real deal in the Third Ward. I came from a suggestion and I'm glad I did come here. I led off with an Americano, some bottles of water for the road and a Turkey Cranberry Melt. While I did order to go, to say I scarfed down that sandwich would be an understatement. I must've ate that sandwich in the car in less than 6-7 minutes. The turkey was tender, the focaccia was fresh, the cranberry was amazing and that melted Gouda cheese hit the spot. There were enough tables to accommodate a nice crowd and they have a small selection of wines and beers if you need a quick fix. I look forward to coming here again! read more
