I really enjoy this restaurant. We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was perfect. I eat a plant-based diet and really appreciate how they are willing to accommodate me. The waitress made sure to get a loaf of bread that didn't have any butter on the top and I didn't even ask her to do that! Very thoughtful service. So I went to Stone Creek Grill in the Harbor last night. I hadn't been there in a good 10 years since it is no longer all that close to where I live. Man has that place slipped. I ordered a Reuben which came looking like it was stuffed with Buddig corned beed,barely grilled bread, rank Sauerkraut that seemed way past it's prime. Cole slaw that was like paste and some really crappy waffle fries that no doubt came out of an Ore Ida bag. My wife ordered the over stuffed vegetarian potato which was hardly cooked and the vegetables on it were basically raw and inedible. To top it off they had their air con on "Freeze a wholly Mammoth." I'm not kidding. If it was 55 degrees in there I would have been surprised. My wife ordered a piece of their supposedly delectible carrot cake to go. When we got home the piece was so small that if you lifeted it up you could see through it. That for $5.99. This is just a warning so nobody else I know goes there and blows $45 or a horrible experience. I know I'll never go back. read more

A great looking cabin restaurant and bar. The service here was excellent and the menu is outstanding as this is a good place to both eat and drink and is right on the border between Illinois and Wisconsin. the layout and look of the place is unique and this is a much better dining experience than some crowded downtown urban area. there is plenty of apace for large gathering and is a shame more businesses do not have teir rural structure and look these days. read more

We ate here on the recommendation of a local in Zion, IL. We had excellent service, great pizza. The pizza had awesome cheese, fresh ingredients, and was perfectly cooked. We were informed when ordering our pan pizza that then pan took 30-35 minutes to cook, so we ordered an appetizer and a beer and sat and chatted. It was worth the wait. It's nice inside, kinda rustic. We didn't have to wait for a table and service was ok. Our waiter was in a rush to get us out of there tho. Our food was cold and my steak sandwich was awful. Steak was rubbery and unevenly cooked. It was not grilled, it was cooked on a flat top. Greasy and grisly. I would not go there again. read more

Cute little cabin with an open interior, yet warm fireplace feel. Their staff can be quite moody and stuck up. I'm still not sure quite why, especially based upon its location (between Zion and Winthrop Harbor, hmm...) But their pizzas are crispy and yummy, coming straight from the fired-up oven. Or if you prefer a burger, they have a good amount of choices. Even though this place is large in size, you may have to call early to see if there's a wait. Just a recommendation. read more

3 of us came in at 2:30 on a Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty crowded, presumably due to the Bears game, but there appeared to be open tables. The host told us there would be a wait. We asked how long, he said he didn't know. We asked if he could even ballpark it for us, like half-hour, hour, more? Nope. He said he had no idea. WTF?!?! You do work there, don't you? We decided not to sign on for an indefinite wait, so we went down Sheridan Rd. and decided to try The Other Place. Everything we had there was delicious, and the service was attentive and friendly, so I doubt we'll bother giving Stone Creek another try when we're in that area. read more

I took my family to this restaurant on Sunday Jan 27, my food was good and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I gave them one star because my son received burns and blisters to his face from the pizza. When the waitress brought it she said it was a little hot, ao i pulled it apart and had my 7 year old wait to eat it. After about five minutes he tried to take a bite and it was hot and he dropped the pizza. The sauce that got on his face was still so hot that it burned and blistered his cheek and chin. It was just a little red at first so we didnt really say anything, once it startef to blister i decided to call the restaurant and let them know that they should warm people better about how hot it is. I didnt ask for money or free food, just to consider. Thr owner told me hr didnt have time to run the restaurant and be a parent for me to. I wad just looking for maybe a sorry and we will try to let others know. Instead I had to speak to a condescending prick. I hope this restaurant is open Another 15 years but with a different owner. Its unfortunate that what seemed to start out as an awesome experience ended with me never wanting to go there again. The single point of failure in a restaurant should not be the owner. so, since he thought I was asking to much, here is your warning. The childa pizza is cooked at over 500 degrees and served immediately, please be very cautious with your children. read more

I can't believe this place only had three stars when I looked for directions to it. I grew up in the area and remember when it opened and it was an excellent place. This was about 15+ years ago. My husband and children were up on the area for the day and when lunch rolled around I suggested it. It still looks the same! (In a good way) The food was delicious. The first time my family visited the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised the food was decent. My husband ordered the giant burger and my daughter ordered the not so big burger and I went with a chicken sandwich. The flavor was good the service was okay, our waitress only interacted with my husband and didn't engage my daughter and I. On our second visit (Valentine's Day) I made reservations for 6pm and we arrived early but the wait was still 30 minutes. So rather than having us wait we were seated upstairs. Our table was sticky and we had to wait for everything. I had the pulled pork sandwich which tasted like BBQ sauce on a bun. My husband had the chicken breats and said it tasted alright. My daughter ordered a slightly larger burger than before and it was way over well done. One thing that I have found to be true is never send back food unless you want it tampered with especially when the staff is young. I don't like inconsistency when I visit restaurants but my husband says he will go back to Stone Creek again. read more

Our son's soccer team was in town for a tournament. The hotel we stayed at recommended this restaurant as a place we could watch the USA soccer team on tv and get a casual meal. We called to see if they could accommodate 25 people (16 being 14 year old boys) and they said yes. They set our group up on their covered deck. It was a beautiful casual setting! A log cabin in the woods with a huge fireplace and big booths. Hand made wooden canoes hang over the booth areas and one in the bar. IL is a no smoking state so none of that to bother. We go here all the time for pizza and the crust is wonderful!! I love their barbecue pizza and the white pizza. My husband prefers the meat lovers. We like thin crust but friends of ours prefer the thick - it's all good. We take company here for dinner and have heard nothing but compliments. The staff can be stand offish if they are treated that way, but I find if I am friendly to waitstaff they return same to me. I much prefer this pizza to any other in the area. As for the rest of the menu the ribs are wonderful, so is their chicken and the pork chop. Sodas are huge so beware. read more

Very cute place-located off the beaten path a little and surrounded by trees. It looks like a cabin in the woods. The decor is nice-has that Northwoods thing going. It snowed on our way there which made it a very scenic restaurant. I liked the upside down lighted canoes above our table! The service was good. The menu was a perfect size and they had a good beer and wine selection. We had potato skins (which were good), and chips and salsa (not so good-chips very soggy). Salad was fine -pretty basic but fresh. My wife has lobster ravioli and I had bison burger. The burger was excellent-juicy and flavorful. The ravioli my wife said was good too. It was $57 -so a little pricey, but that's ok. My biggest con was the setup of the place-weird spots for a few tables, but really minor. Nice evening -definitely recommend it. read more

Decent food, but way overpriced. I enjoy their taco salad with chicken. However, every time I get it, it's different lol. Sometimes there is a handful of lettuce and a ton of toppings. Sometimes the whole thing is lettuce and hardly any toppings. Sometimes it has onion, sometimes not. Same with tomatoes. Sometimes it comes with sour cream.. sometimes not. I reserve 5-star ratings for a place that blows me away in every category; while Stone Creek comes close in most, the service is occasionally on the slower side, mainly when busy (which is expected). I've really never had a bad meal there. The pizza is outstanding, and the over-sized baked potatoes are great when you don't feel like gorging on a pizza or burger & fries. Had the best experience here last night. My parents and I came in on a Friday evening and waited for a table for maybe 15 minutes. Which was fine because... bar. We had a booth table in the upstairs area and it was quiet and nice. My father had a pizza, my mother had a chicken breast and I had the center cut steak cooked medium rare. Let's just say everything was Amazeballs. Cooked to perfection! All 3 dishes were wonderful and just what we were looking for. On top of the amazing food, we had an amazing waitress named Brit. Two out of town guests and I recently visited SCG for lunch. We ordered fish sandwiches w/fries. The fish was very thin, very dry, and overcooked. The fries were also overcooked, dry, crumbly and greasy. Very disappointing and embarrassing since I had spoken well of the place prior to our visit. I spoke to the owner on the phone the next day. He offered a weak apology, asked for my name my number said he would look into it.. I would have thought that in all fairness he should have offered some sort of reimbursement. I would not recommend SCG to anyone. read more

We went on a Sunday evening and had barbecue chicken and a pizza. The barbecue chicken was very dry and seemed to be left over from the day before and microwaved. It was tough, stringy, and not very flavorful. The pizza was OK, although oily, but at least was freshly made. The chips and salsa, stated on the menu as homemade, were not distinguishable from store-bought. Will not go again. read more
