I was debating back and forth to put a review We came here tonight for dinner since this place is very close & has good food. The whole dinner experience was great until I went to finish up my mashed potatoes and found a hair. I notified the waitress right away and she mentioned do u want to talk to a manager. I said please let him know and see what he wants to do. She comes back to say he offered a free dessert. We took it home & that wasn't so great either in taste. Nice gesture BUT who ever was on duty couldn't even come over to apologize to us. Not sure if we would return after that incident. Oh my go_ ,I just left the stone creek grill in Winthrop harbor Illinois and actually got sick when I got home. They charge 27.00 $ for a 1/2 " thick rib eye stake, ordered med rare, got it in less then 5 minutes, charred on the outside raw every where else, the steamed vegetables were cold, the mashed potatoes cold. Really they should take stake off there menu. What professional cook can not cook stake! Stick to pizza, not the best in town but at least it's eatable. Server was good but bar tender made sure everyone at the bar got served twice before filling the waitress orders! Never again! read more

We dropped in on our way home from North Point harbor, which is just a few minutes away. The grounds around the restaurant are beautifully landscaped and inside is well appointed in North-Woods decor, with cedar planking and a huge fieldstone fireplace. The upside down wooden canoes with the string of lights just added to the ambiance. We felt welcomed and our server was attentive. One of those places that looks great from the outside and you go in thinking you will have a great time and I always come away thinking, "why did we come here again?" The service can be iffy at times due to attitude, how busy it is, and if you are seated upstairs ( which is the worst). Plus, our waitress REALLY hated that we asked to split the check. We're all coworkers, we don't want to cover for EVERYBODY. Shouldn't be a big deal -- especially not for lunch. Everyone's food looked amazing. I think I'm going to try the over-stuffed potatoes next time... (It looked like it could have been 3 full potatoes in that dish.) The popcorn chicken looked great too... But I loved mine... I got the Stoney Burger. The meat wasn't anything to write home about... but top it with bacon, pepper jack and bbq sauce... yeah. Not the first time I have been here but not one of their better showings. We had a large party (7) and we called ahead and they said the wait was about 20 minutes and they had our name down. We arrived in 20 minutes and they let us know it would be another 20 minutes... No biggie We sat at our table and ordered very quickly after. It was about 40 minutes until we got our food. I am not sure of the others but I got the boneless wings with celery and carrots and it was clearly sitting out waiting for 20-30 minutes. We were golfing in Zion and wanted to eat after golf. Based on the yelp reviews we thought we would give this a try. Our waitress Kate was fantastic and she had a great accent, it sounded like she was from Minnesota. When she approached, I asked if they had a gluten free menu and she looked confused and said no. I guess people in that area do not have gluten allergies. The good news there are plenty of choices on the menu that will allow someone with Gluten allergy eat without an issue. So far I have not been impacted by cross contamination, so I guess I will roll the dice. My partner ordered the smoked pork chops, and I wished I had as well. They looked and smelled yummy. I ordered the rib eye which was like a rib eye you may have purchased at Walmart or Sam's, but you could not complain about the price. The rib eye was good and cook to medium as requested. If you are expecting a Chicago steak, then you are in the wrong place. My partner also ordered the beef stew, and he was very happy and surprised how good it was. He was trying to figure out how to get to this location after we finish outlet mall shopping in the winter. The decor was as many yelpers described, like a log cabin. It was very comfortable and was a relaxing place to visit after a round of golf. We did see people ordering pizza, and as you know Chicagoans are picky about their pizza, so I think it would depend on if you are willing to try something new. If you are looking for something fancy, then you need to go downtown Chicago. If you are looking for someplace casual and good food, I would recommend Stone Creek Grill. I honestly did not like it. I remember going there a couple years ago and actually enjoying it but, I went back and it just felt nasty and unsanitary. The menu isn't specific, it is just super broad. The waitress was super nice and I felt bad because he had a lot to take care of. We have eaten here before pre-COVID and during COVID. The food was much much better pre-COVID than it is now. The wait staff is also not up to pre-COVID standards. Tonight(27Sept2020) we come in to have the Oktoberfest platter. We were disappointed. The German potato salad, if you could call it that, was served in a tiny condiment cup as was the Red Cabbage. These two items were German in name only. The three sausages were very good even if they were lukewarm. The smoked pork butt was tough and looked an awful lot like a ham roll. Also Luke warm. The Dark Rye was very stale to the point of being extremely tough to chew. If it was just my platter that had this issue that's one thing, but both platters having the same issue is ridiculous. We also had to ask for the mustard. We have had their Oktoberfest platter pre-COVID and that was outstanding. This time, it is an embarrassment to the German culture. read more

Hello, yesterday was my first experience with this restaurant. My family bought some Beef Stew. They said it was the best they have ever had, only it turned out to be the worst I have ever had! Honestly, beef stew that tastes like vinegar? Really? All that has done is make me want to avoid your restaurant at all costs! The chef should be ashamed of letting a dish like that out! I drive by this place on the way to work every day and finally got an opportunity to try it today. I ordered the mushrooms appetizer and the BBQ chicken pizza. The mushrooms were sliced and breaded with a mild butter and garlic bread if and served with ranch dressing. They tasted pretty good, but I prefer non-flavored batter so I didn't eat an awful lot of them. The pizza took a little while to arrive but was very good. It had a thin crust which is my favorite. I believe they used cheddar cheese also. I really enjoyed the pizza. Not sure if I filled up on the beer, mushrooms, or pizza, but I wasn't able to finish it all...more for later today. The building is beautiful, log cabin-like. There is a beautiful fireplace in the middle of the room and a large deck outside. It's a quiet setting that feels like you're in the country. On our way back from Kenosha we decided to pick the first spot open for lunch (not a bar) and landed here. Great big cabin Northwoods feel. I ordered the Italian beef and it was great with mozzarella and peppers. The kids meal cheeseburger was the size of an adult meal but that was fine.
