Once Dad moved in we had peace of mind that there was help available if he needed it, whether he was sick, or any need he had. It was a good move because we knew Dad didn't have to live alone and he could be around others. It took a while for him to get adjusted to the change in his life after leaving the family home of 55 years. Dad came to appreciate that he could get cooked meals served to him in the dining room. He likes the food and loves all the wait staff and enjoys chatting with them. My father is very friendly with anyone that works at Ashland even though he's not one to engage in the activities. He has made friends in the dining room and in the hallways. Monica, the current executive director, as well as Heather, the current sales director, have been very helpful in trying to help Dad size down as his money is being spent down. They have been very gracious and have not complained about all my father's questions, research, and the many apartment tours Heather has given him. My dad feels confident talking to the staff or the nursing team if he feels he has a need. The community is clean and well kept. They do offer rides and trips out of the building. Ashland has been very conscientious during the past 2 years with Covid-19, keeping our seniors safe. They are starting to renovate the rooms, so that's a plus. Ashland is conveniently located to 495 and 114, so it makes it easy to visit from CT, PA, and the North Shore. All in all we are happy that my father is living at Ashland Farm.

We did not hear about the attack until 9 hours later and then not told about the severity of injuries. We asked for a meeting with the Executive Director but were denied. We called the police for them to go to Bayberry to get a statement on the attack but once again Executive Director refused to give any information to police. Massachusetts Elder Affairs is investigating.

One thing that I cannot say enough about is the activities department! If not for them I would have taken my mom out, they kept my mom busy and entertainment for the last six months of her life. Jacinda the director should open her own business! I have so many items that my mother made that are beautiful and I will cherish them forever. Let me get to the negative about this company. The management is truly awful, I won't go into too many specifics but I know that karma will have her way with these folks. I will start with the family is supposed to get together with a manager and get a 30 and 60 day review of how their loved one is doing, Jack the manager had to change the date, ok fine but when I went in on the date he changed it to he started yelling at me (the customer paying 9k a month) saying he was too busy! There is a nurse case manager who oversees the nursing staff, unbeknownst to me I don't even think she's an RN, that I caught in a bunch of lies about my mother falling, which ultimately resulted in her death. I had asked to see the video to see my moms fall and was given the runaround how Jack couldn't find it on the film (what??? Why do you have cameras then?) my mom was in hospice care and did not have a long outlook but this definitely rushed her process along. I could go into many more stories, something that really left a bad taste in my mouth? They sent me a bill after my mom had passed away, keep in mind, this is a 50 bed facility, not a huge corporation! My mom had been gone over five weeks now, I'm still awaiting the refund I was promised three weeks ago, the management doesn't care about their clients whatsoever, it's all about the money, thank goodness for Lorna, Denise and Jacinda!

The bus was not currently in operation, due to limited staffing, however we were told there were plans to get that going. In the meantime, they have a Lyft account which could be used to bring residents to doctors, etc. They do have another building which is an apartment only option, and is less per month, which appears to be targeted to a younger population who does not need the amenities. At the time of our visit The Woods was at less than 20% occupancy.
