I've been wanting to try this spot for some time now and within the last 3 weeks I have now been twice. The first time I went on a date night with my husband and another couple who had been here for their anniversary and raved about it. Needless to say it did not disappoint, because we found ourselves back this past Saturday night. Last night we were seated at a high top close to the kitchen on a later reservation. I suggest a reservation because the space is intimate and both times I've been it has been busy. We got there first and we were seated right away with drinks. What I can gather is the manager was who sat us, and he visited our table a couple of times through the night offering suggestions and great conversation. The executive chef, or perhaps also an owner, was next to the kitchen the entire time, overseeing the food going out, and to our delight even offered us a couple of extra tastes of menu items just because. It was absolutely generous and not expected, but a beautiful touch to what was already a great evening. What I loved about the staff here is you can tell everyone genuinely loves and cares for the space they work in. That isn't something that normally can be faked, and is almost always felt. Now on to the food: oh my god. Everything is farm to table, tapas style, to entree style and a small curated menu. The food is fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The menu although small, has something for everyone to enjoy. I really appreciate that they stay local and that they try to support small business. We will absolutely be back again, and look forward to yet another excellent meal. Thank you Stone Row and staff!

My most recent review is based on my experience during restaurant week. I've also been here in the summer and the outdoor space is lovely. THE FOOD: -there were a good variety of options for restaurant week that you can also find on the menu, my party had quite a few of the options -charcuterie board was good, I liked the salted house made crackers, the cheeses weren't my favorite but I am pretty basic when it comes to cheeses (cheddar, toscano, etc.) so I didn't eat much but others in our party really enjoyed it -tuna crudo is a small serving but tasty -parsnip+celery bisque was good -Brussel sprouts : as a big fan of brussels these didn't disappoint. Good crisp on outside and nice flavor -mushroom toast: strong mustard and was good. Cut into nice bite size slices -Monkfish: I don't like pieces of onion so I ordered without the soubise but would have preferred if it was on the side (which I asked but I don't think he got that) because I think the sauce would've really elevated the dish. Broccoli rabe was delicious. The lemon vinaigrette was tangy and good as well. -duck carbonara: very savory and simple, great flavors -brownie: delicious dessert, served HOT -citrus almond cake: it was okay, I wish I had opted for the brownie THE DRINKS: -beer flight special: 2 in our party ordered the beer flights that were on special on restaurant week which gave them lots of good options -sangria: I ordered the sangria that was (supposed to be [see below]) on special for restaurant week THE SERVICE: -our server was very polite and attentive -While I appreciate a meal that isn't rushed and meant to take time and enjoy your company, I will say there was a long lag from when we sat down to when we put in our appetizer order. I think it would've been nice if we were asked closer to the time we ordered our drinks so we didn't have to wait so long for our first food to arrive. -I am not sure if the waiter was having an off night or was new but we had some issues with the drinks. For beer flights, both orders were not what our party asked for, for ex. not simply swapped, but beers both missing completely and what was provided were totally mislabeled. We tried to figure it out amongst the table but the errors were pretty bad. When he brought back the corrections there was still one completely missing but we didn't want to be a hassle so we let it go. He was courteous and apologetic in fixing it -it also seemed like he was not fully knowledgeable on the (restaurant week) menu since I ordered the special sangria, listed as the red, and was asked if I wanted red or white. Upon pointing out that it said only red he seemed a bit confused so I just said red was okay. When we got home I realized I was charged full price for the regular menu sangria instead of the special price. -he got the rest of our meal perfectly accurate, just seemed like an oopsies with the drinks. Maybe the bartender was out and he wasn't used to ringing in and grabbing beers/drinks himself? THE ATMOSPHERE -on top of the rustic building they have fun decor as well. The Christmas wreaths were still up (in February) but we also saw some heart decorations too. I enjoy wintery touches since winter doesn't stop after Christmas. -nice attention to detail, looking forward to warmer weather to eat outside as well Overall, it was a good price for what we ate this evening. Typically for me Stone Row is a splurge location so I am glad I was able to enjoy it and try more of their fare during restaurant week.

Since it opened, I've watched Cafemantic straining beneath its assignment: be an elevated seasonal farm-to-table spot, but attract enough local diners to stay in operation. I swelled with pride when the New York Times noticed them. I came to love some of the weird disappearing menu items, the ironic repurposing of Willimantic's industrial aesthetic, even the tattooed true believer waiters who would lecture about how jerk chicken should really be prepared or the origins of an aperol spritz. But inevitably, Cafemantic, Stonerow, whatever, had to make peace with its environs. They had managed to impress the city folk, but we weren't in a city. So, the changes crept in. First they retreated from the small plates-only menu and I said nothing because I was not a hipster. Then they removed the fusion menu items and replaced them with steak and chicken, and I did not speak up because I did not vote for Bernie. The menu stopped changing all the time, as an unpopular rotating cast was changed into low-risk old-reliables. It became ordinary, but at what cost? What are we left with today? The Mumford and Sons aesthetic, but the old timey fan belt never seems to be running. A young waitstaff who are still gamely trying to buy into the restaurant's philosophy; earnest, even charismatic service, but not overtly attentive. (Yes! Ignore me! Make me feel like I'm in New York!) A menu that loads on Dropbox, as if it were still changing every day. Wait is that ... a burger and fries on the dinner menu? Is that all people around here will tolerate for dinner? Sheesh. There are still hints of glory. The tarragon ranch roasted BBQ carrots last night were a standout (still tucked into a defiant small plates section of the menu), the Wellfleet oysters still fresh and briny, the cucumber salad delicate and intricate. The creme brûlée is a perfect ending to the night, and the cocktails are still every bit as well-made and spunky as they were when this circus came to town. I've been through a range of emotions with this place over the years: pride, disappointment, optimism, and now I'm at anxiety. Is this place going to make it? How much more compromise is needed before the dining room is full again? Don't change, Stone Row. Let them choke on your brilliance.

Food was delicious, Fish was tender, the only thing I would mention is that it is a very vinegar forward preparation, and would've benefited from a little more of the squash purée to balance it out. Everything was very tasty and well prepared. Holiday decorations were beautiful but during the winter season,I would suggest dressing warmly if you tend to run cold as it was very cold inside.

My fiancé and I visited Stone Row last week to try their new Halloween-themed cocktails, which are some of the most creative and festive we've seen this season! Their bartender is clearly talented, and the staff was very attentive and welcoming. It was a cozy, dimly lit area that we were in as we sat at the bar, and we enjoyed several items from their menu. The orecchiette pasta was made in-house and delicious, the roasted garlic butter was so flavorful, and the duck breast was possibly the best we've ever had and cooked to perfection. This was the first restaurant we've ever visited in Willimantic, and we can definitely see ourselves returning!

We really enjoyed this place. The vibe is perfect. Clean, sleek and perfectly set with a view of the kitchen and the pass. Greeting was extra friendly as well as waitress greeting. So many options on this seasonally changing menu that we went with a lot of shareables. The jalapeno dip came out actually bubbling. I preferred dipping the sourdough into it as opposed to the pita chip but I had zero complaints on the actual dip. Just spicy enough! The sourdough tho.... Came out warm and steaming a slather of garlic butter that immediately begins to melt on the warm bread and you have to just stop to be present w the delight in your mouth. Butter has a nice salty pop to combat the sourness in bread. We should all pause to give this bite the moment it deserves. Pork belly was cooked perfect. Tender w a nice "bark" to the edges. I personally didn't care for the spice profile. But the meat was done so well I ate it anyway. Duck fat wings just fell off the bone. The sauce sang with high notes of orange which was so complimentary for the fat cooked wing. The kid got the smash burger and demolished it. It was his second time and he loved burger so much he got it again. The fingerling potato that came with it was crispy on the outside and the perfect amount of softness inside. Expertly seasoned! Husband got Korean chicken sandwich and he was so full and couldn't stop eating it. He must've said three times, "that's real good" I got the beet salad and it was just the right way to end that big meal.. until I saw they had affogato... cheesecake ice cream which tasted exactly like espresso over cheesecake. So rich, so delicious. Have to shout out the service. Excellent from start to finish. Can't wait to see next seasons menu!

Stone Row, why have it took so long for me to find you! My only regret is I do not live closer, otherwise we would be here weekly. Everything was on point, perfectly seasoned, portioned and cooked. We started with the Sherry Roasted beets. The whipped ricotta and mint-pistachio pesto is Michelin star worthy small plate! Wanted to lick the plate! Our second dish was the perfect Stonington scallops on the celeriac purée with prefect pickled celery and apple! Our Main dish was the Black Sea Bass accompanied by bok chop over medallions of glazed sweet potatoes. The sesame lemon vinaigrette was a perfectly delicate balance of sweet and acid! We finished with the house made cold brew coffee ice cream. Thank you for the best meal since pre Covid! Not to ignore our server Carly, she was prompt and attentive, Thank You! Fine dining in Willimantic, who would've believed me but it's true!

There's a lot of nostalgia tied to this place, but the experience today feels like a shadow of what it used to be. The quality has dropped drastically. Service was, frankly, atrocious--slow, disengaged, and bordering on indifferent. The beer selection is still decent, but it doesn't matter much when every pour arrives tasting off. Whether it's bad kegs or hot glasses, the result is the same: lukewarm, skunky beer that's hard to enjoy. Food was another disappointment. Every item came out cold, and the flavors were on par with grade‑D fast food--bland, lifeless, and nowhere near the standard this place once had. Giving three stars feels generous, but it's a nod to the legacy Willibrew built over the decades. I truly hope they find their footing again, because right now, the nostalgia is doing all the heavy lifting. Ummmmm cheers I guess

The atmosphere and service were terrific. Expansive place in an old bank. Quirky, charming, and fun all at the same time. Loved the vibe - added to the excitement of having lunch. Server was terrific. The food: IF we ever go back I/we will get apps for the table only. Wide variety of options - all fairly good. They do no harm. Think airport or mid-level hotel restaurant. Appetizer portions (especially the nachos) gigantic. Clearly it's for the wow factor to distract diners from the 100% food service supplier, heat and eat options. Even all sauces and dressings come in the 2oz /4oz soufflé cup with the LID STILL ON. like we are literally in the airport. Wings to start along with nachos with shredded beef. The only wing sauce (we tried 4) that tasted like anything was their "Oy-Vey" which is hotter than their bottled, ready to serve buffalo. The buffalo, bbq, and dry rub jerk were tasteless, as was the blue cheese. The wings were medium size. Not the jumbo party wings that come in the 40lbs box. Nachos were ok. Good portion of cheese and meat. But the thimble of sour cream and tasteless pour from the bottle salsa were embarrassing But... if we were drinking and enjoying friends ... it would have been fine to soak up the microbrews, I suppose. Sandwiches were disastrous. One had the friend catfish sandwich, one the spicy shrimp wrap, and I had the farmers wrap/add blackened chicken. Portion sparse. Fries and/or onion rings mid-grade coated/cover the plate type. And I added coleslaw (maybe my favorite food on the planet) at our server's suggestion...the dry, tasteless cabbage set coleslaw back 50 years. KFC slaw is miles better (and I hate that). What ruined it was all sandwiches had the same "funk" to them. Each member of our table tried to identify in their own order, and sharing some of each others, what it was. The common denominator was the funky/carbon/dirty grease taste and smell that came from their grill (all wraps and sandwich bread/roll/wrap) was heated on it. It clearly was filthy. Taste permeated everything. They don't create/chef here. It's food service supplier "speed scratch" which is assembled in the kitchen. I know staffing is hard. I know no one wants to work (they do, however, want to get paid), but really really really disappointed based on reviews and menu. Best part, I asked for a small cup of oy-vey sauce as my tasteless wrap was so dry. Server said that she'd be happy to. But it would be $4 from the kitchen. Ummm... hard pass. Again, maybe phenomenal if you're a college student at East Conn. but if you're not drinking the food simply does not stand up on its own. Worst $178 with tip (with no alcohol) I have ever spent.

Coming from New York, I eat a lot of good pizza and am sometimes disappointed in other states. However, I've had good pizza in parts of CT and Trigo was no exception! We started out with the salad which was absolutely delicious and perfect on a hot day. The lemon vinaigrette kept everything light and fresh and the addition of feta was fantastic. I kept going back for more! We were a party of four and opted for two white pizzas: mushroom bacon and shrimp pesto. I preferred the mushroom bacon of the two. The toppings were very generous and the bacon had a nice sweet flavor to it. The crust was crispy and delicious. Shrimp is one of my favorite foods but something was missing for me in this pizza; I couldn't put my finger on it. It still tasted good, just wouldn't be my go to. These pizzas + salad was plenty and we had a few leftover slices. We capped off the meal with a brownie to share with ice cream drizzled in olive oil. I love this combo and the cold hot effect. All in all, this was a great meal in Willimantic! Prices were great and staff were accomodating and nice. I liked the aesthetics at Trigo and the fresh flowers were a nice touch. Would go back if in the area!
