My family and I went to Stone Tavern for dinner around 5pm a few weeks ago. We were visiting family in the area, so we wanted to kick off the weekend with a night off from cooking! I heard some mixed reviews of the restaurant from family and friends so, of course, I needed to formulate my own opinion. When we first entered the tavern, I truly thought it was a seat yourself kinda spot...there was no one who greeted us at the door... everyone looked kind of lost, like they were ALL new. Restaurant was rather empty at this point, so we weren't sure if they were just opening or if they were in the middle of a shift change. We waited 10 minutes to be seated, then another 10 min waiting for servers to figure out who was taking our table. All the servers seemed to look to this one dude for answers but he also didn't seem to know what he was doing. Seems strange for a restaurant not to have designated staff manage the front of the house...or some sort of a plan. Nonetheless, our server was really nice - she greeted us with a smile and got our first round of drinks to the table right away! I wish I remembered her name! I believe she wore glasses. Since we were a little bit of a larger party, we sat outside. That just meant we weren't really a priority. So if you go there...sit inside, or else they might forget about you. No fault of the servers! The organization just seems funky. That can definitely make or break a restaurant. All in all, drinks were good, food was mid, and service was decent but unorganized. Burgers were excellent. Service was superb. Our waitress was really super super nice. The ambience was excellent. We took advantage of a beautiful night and sat outside. A nice mellow place to go and relax on a Friday at the end of the work week. Prices were normal. Burgers are about 18 bucks. We will definitely be going back. read more

Seemed to be super slow for a Friday afternoon. Place was decorated nicely, clean, bar tender super friendly. We decided to stay at the bar, watched a few tables come in and they were served rather slowly. We just needed a snack to hold us over while coming home. If I could leave a negative 1 star I would. Samantha S was the bartender. To start the experience off, we sat for almost 10 minutes at the bar before we were even greeted. Once we ordered drinks, the buckets came out quickly, but she brought the wrong beer for one of our guests. She came back and grabbed it quickly and said i'll bring you the right beer. After over 10 minutes I flagged her down to tell her he still never got his beer. With our party of 6 at the bar she only had 5 other guests. Once she brought his beer I asked if we could order food. She said "no." then said haha what do you want. at the point I chose not to order food because she was extremely unprofessional. Three other people ordered food and only two people's food came out. Once we flagged her down again 10 minutes after the first round of food came out she said they burnt the first order of the potato skins and the new order would be right out. 11 minutes later she brought the second order out with no apology. She forgot my friends beer. She forgot my friends food. I live out of town and was excited to order food from here because i've had a great experience before but this was horrid. A nice place for a family meal or to hang out and watch sports at the bar. Some of the servers are amazing. They offer coloring books and toys for kids. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. Finally got the opportunity tonight. Booked a reservation for 4 on Open Table for 6:00 pm, showed up at the restaurant and they have no system in place to check reservations. They didn't have anything written in the book they had. Just weird, wasn't busy at all for a Saturday night so we were seated right away. Ordered drinks and apps...then entrees. Apps were really slow to come out, but when they finally did, not two minutes later the entrees hit the table. No spacing between courses at all. Food was good with the exception on the Alla Vodka flatbread. While I understand they use a woodfired grill the crust was burnt. Plus for an Alla Vokda flatbread they was no vodka sauce to be found, but hey for $0.69 they gave us a side of sauce. Our server was excellent and attentive, but kitchen staff needs to work on timings and management seems to be in disarray. Very odd experience tonight. Seems like the place is still going through a test opening not a restaurant that's been open for 3 years in that location. I don't think we'll be back. read more

Service is very good. Food is mediocre. Ambience has improved since my first visit but the food hasn't. I had high hopes based on word of mouth but unfortunately I wasn't impressed. Avoid the calamari (thin, overcooked, too many tentacles), the pizza (tastes like a frozen supermarket) and the stone tavern salad (chicken tasted liked pre-seasoned frozen strips with a funny taste). read more

Service is terrible. The food always comes out wrong. The cook comes out and says they're out of soup in front of the patrons. The bartender waitress does not even go back to the kitchen to find out why our food took an hour hardly anybody in the place a guy came in half hour after us and got served before we did A group of waiters and bartenders were hanging out in the back of the other outside bar left one bartender by herself. The food is good, but the service is terrible. They orders are usually wrong all the time. We did get a discount and we also have been given a free drink to compensate, but it's all the time. Place is cute! I haven't sat in to eat but went inside to pickup my order. It looks like a chill spot and what I liked was the bar outside. Looks like a good time! I ordered wings and the margarita pizza and it's was AMAZING! Omg it was the best margarita pizza ever! Service was great as they attended me quick when I went to pick up my order. Would not recommend, unless you enjoy being ignored. We came in with our two-year-old (a known ticking time bomb of impatience), were seated right away, and then promptly forgotten. Several staff members walked by us multiple times but no drink order, no check-in, nothing. Another couple ended up leaving without being served, and we followed suit shortly after. There was only one other couple in the entire restaurant, and now I completely understand why. If you're looking for good service (or any service at all) this is not the place. read more

Second time trying this restaurant. Some nice updates to the seating area that offered some sound deadening and a bit of privacy. Server was decent and drinks and appetizers were solid. This is sadly where things turned south. Our meals were very long in coming so I called over the server, who intimated that another server had accidentally taken them to another table. He stated that they were cooking us our meals currently and asked if the manager had stopped by. He had not. Meals arrived all confused and with one burger near raw with cold fries and the other overdone and fries were fine. Neither burger came per description on the menu and were missing the horseradish sauce. Server brought fresh fries and apologized profusely. Manager never came to our table, there was no discount offer, or anything that was comp'd due to extensive issues. Even bought a dessert to go. Terrible food. Terrible service. I ordered their signature "Half Chicken" (roasted). Waited a 45 minutes to order it then another 45 minutes to get it. My beer glass was empty nearly that entire time. When the food came, it was cool and so dry, it could not be eaten. Got a quick "sorry" and removed from the bill. This place is going down, down, down hill ever since it moved from Washington, NJ. Stay clear of this place. read more

We've been to Stone Tavern several times (the last time less than a month ago) and normally I would give it a 3-3.5 star review. The food is ok, but the portions aren't that big. The beer selection is good and the food is always piping hot, hence the normal 3-3.5 star review. Tonight's dinner was a 0-1 star experience, averaging out to about a 2 star review. When we entered the restaurant, the host wasn't at the desk, so one of the waiters seated us. We sat for quite a while without anyone coming over, which gave us plenty of time to review the menu. This was a bit understandable, as the host didn't alert the waiter we were there. After what felt like forever, a waitress, who was not associated with our table, must have noticed our exasperation and asked if we were being served. She called over the waiter for our table for us. We ordered our drinks, which included water, and our food, which included a salad, at the same time. The waiter (Jake according to the receipt) brought our tea and coffee but no water. While we waited for our salad, a couple sitting at the table behind us received their salad. They had arrived after us but had a different waiter. The kitchen staff brought out our main course but no salad - we had to ask for it. We asked him for water, which we never received. I finally asked the host for water, which he brought to us. There was no follow up from our waiter except at the end when he asked if we were "still" doing ok. I would think you'd have to start being ok before you can "still " be ok. The restaurant was about 75% full, so it was busy but not hectic. There was plenty of wait staff. If this had been our first experience at this restaurant, we'd never return. As it is, it'll be a while before we return. The price for a meal, while not horrendously expensive, just isn't worth it if this is the type of service provided. We will give Stone Tavern another chance at some point, but probably not too soon. I hope their service improves, as the area needs something other than the fast food that's springing up. read more

came today 9-13-23 for lunch - there were a few people outside on the patio. our server had long dark/purple hair. she was very nice ! i got a tavern burger with a side salad. the burger was huge. the horseradish sauce on it was amazing. my friend got a thin crust margarita pizza - also delicious. he has numerous food issues due to health issues and our server let us know the thin crust was made in house and the flatbread crusts were frozen. so we went with thin crust because of less sodium. (my friend is also a pizza snob and enjoyed this one) we'll be back ! read more

I'm friggan pissed. $63 for mozzarella sticks, 2 salads, and the garbage in the box that they call pizza (see photo). It's complete trash, inedible. I just wasted my money because now I have to throw out the garbage in the box and get something else to eat. Whoever deemed this trash acceptable to leave the kitchen should be fired. Father's day dinner...I place my order and everyone is served except me. I get annoyed and finally I am told my dinner will be served about 20 minutes after everyone was served. I said to not bother now that everyone is almost done eating. Everyone is done eating and a different waitress brings the food and I tell her I said I didn't want the food since it took so long to get it to me. I mentioned it was Rude and she argued back at me stating we are so busy and I said you are also very rude. Never again will I ever go here to eat. The food it ok but the service is horrible. Keep driving! I don't expect much from road side diners but this was an absolute disaster. How do you ruin a burger? by not cleaning the grill in years. Less than mediocre food, we started with the "pretzel loaf" it was literally microwaved pretzel logs - the dipping sauces were also unimpressive. Save your $ try another appetizer. We had two pizzas - the margherita was good, the Tuscany was swimming in a plate of oil. The Tuscany also had what was listed as prosciutto on it, it was nothing like any prosciutto I've ever had - it looked like dried out pressed ham. Ribs were fall off the bone but lacking flavor. The half a roasted chicken was dried out and also unimpressive. The service was good, our waiter was kind and engaging but when told food was not great just said sorry do you want a box? Ordered bottled beer not offered a glass which is fine but just another example of missing out of the nicer details of a meal experience. Had a great experience here last night. Service was great, food tasted great, drinks were tasty ! We got the grilled octopus (a favorite of ours) and it tasted great! We also had the salmon and rib eye. Both came with a side and a salad. Both entrees were great and cooked well. The clientele was a nice crowd. They had a lot of options on the menu.
