Visited Stone Werks in Boonsboro a few weeks ago. My husband and I had never been there before and the owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, and answered all our questions. We ordered the Chicken Salad Wrap and Chicken Caesar Wrap. They were both fresh, delicious and loaded with chicken. I made two meals out of mine! The Chicken Caesar is served with a large packet of Ken's Caesar dressing, which I liked very much. I also got a cherry-lavender lemonade which was so refreshing! We added a black velvet cupcake and snickerdoodle cookie to our lunch, and brought home a cinnamon roll (plenty of icing). Oh my, they were heavenly!! The shop is very clean with sweet touches of decor, and the bathroom was spotless and well appointed. Note- there are no prices listed on the menu items. That made it awkward to stand there and have to ask how much everything is. I prefer to know how much I'm spending before I spend it. Overall, I highly recommend Stone Werks for their excellent food and exceptional service. read more

Lovely place for lunch. The employees simply go out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. The food is good and reasonably priced. On our way out of town after a wonderful stay at the Inn BoonsBoro I wanted to grab a cup of coffee before driving. There was a gentleman who was cleaning the door and informed us they were closed on Sundays. He then offered some drip coffee that he had going for a private event. I graciously accepted and he invited us in. He was incredibly kind and wouldn't even charge me for the coffee. Which is delicious by the way. Please check this place out. New to the area, I've been in StoneWerks just a few times for a sweet treat and coffee. When it was time to hire someone for our wedding cake we looked into a cake tasting here. The process was simple - messaged them to set up date/time, replayed back with 5 flavors we'd like to try and we showed up. We loved every flavor we picked to try,and went with two different flavors (two flavors for cupcakes and our favorite flavors out of the two for our cake). The owners August + Elisabeth were awesome! Elisabeth spent some time with me after the tasting to get an idea of how I wanted everything to look(colors, theme, design and even cupcake wrapper colors). I sent her my wedding Pinterest board for ideas and told her to do what ever! I messaged them periodically regarding the amount of cakes stands I would need for the cupcakes(based on my vision) and they replayed fast with input. Fast forward to wedding day - I didn't message them not once(nor did I see them LOL) they showed/delivered in the time frame, set some things up for the cupcakes(my friend/coordinator said they even offered help with setting up anything else around the venue! They set up our s'mores station ) and left DETAILED handwritten directions for the setting up the cake later on. We loved working with them(I think they were the least stressful thing to happen during planning). Moral of the story: hire them. Tasting was $30(if I remember correctly) which applies to your bill if you hire them. Delivery was included(which was nice, we got married 40ish minutes away). They offered us a one year anniversary cake which I think is extremely sweet and thoughtful. Everything looked and tasted soooo good and you'll be working with such a sweet couple! What a great place to visit and stay a while! This is a cozy coffeehouse environment with a comfortable set up, a variety of chairs, tables and sofa. I use a walker and when I place my order at the cash register, employees bring my order to where I'm sitting and will clear everything when I'm ready to leave. I love their coffee and the varieties of food. They serve decaf drinks as well as hot chocolate. They make everything served. I've had different quiche and they are so fluffy! Today I had an everything bagel with cream cheese and found out they even use their own recipe to make different bagels. There are many pastries as well made by them and they also serve breakfasts and lunch items! We have a group that meets there and have established a great friendship with the employees! First visit to Stone Werks. I'm giving them four stars on customer service, but as a first-timer, it wasn't a great experience. I will revisit, as there was a large event across the street which brought in a lot of traffic. When I entered, the line was at the door. I immediately noticed there wasn't a visible menu. The drink menu was small and cluttered, and only readable once I was second in line. I wasn't ready with my order. The sweets were listed on the glass with no note of gluten-free. Had I not asked, I wouldn't have known. I ordered three cupcakes. (Ended up being the same cake just three different icings.) When my friend asked about savory items, the gentleman described quiche and scones. Again, had we not asked, it would have been a missed sale. Quiche was written on the glass, but the product wasn't visible, I assumed they were out. I heard they prepare pour overs and that was my sole reason for going in. I was very disappointed to find out that they only offer "Vietnamese style" iced coffee. While it may be delicious, pour over fans delight in the smoother, cleaner brew of a pour over. What I was asking for was a simple cup of black coffee which is about 3-4 fewer steps than the iced version. I was told they only did iced. Pour over drinkers may be a small market share, but you've got the method to include us. I'd happily pay $6 bucks for hand brewed knowing what goes into it. I'll spare you the sweetened condensed milk. The quiche was flavorful, but very dry. Overcooked, but edible. My friend did notice that none of the staff looked stressed or hustled even with the long line. This was a nice vibe, but I did see two parties look in the door and leave due to the line. The server took a minute to come to the table to ask about our meal and clear plates which was appreciated that we weren't lost in the crowd. Two things to consider: The flow of staff coming through the line with hot drinks. Dangerous. At times there was no one taking orders. Each staff person was doing everything which may not be the most efficient. I salute you on creating a cozy shop with patient, warm staff. I look forward to visiting again and trying additional items from the menu. read more

Stone Werks provided 150 cupcakes for my wedding last weekend. They were DELICIOUS and my guests absolutely loved them. We decided on three flavors: apple pie, chocolate with cream, and vanilla with wine berry. Each flavor was absolutely delicious. We have a few left over and I can't stop picking at them - they're just all too good! Elisabeth was very easy to work with and was always responsive to my e-mails. She and her husband delivered the cupcakes and set up the entire station. It looked so beautiful! I couldn't have been happier and they were so reasonably priced too. This place is an amazing gem! I am about to become a regular customer. The service was excellent. They were quick and it wasn't very busy when I got there around 8:45 am. I ordered a chai with espresso, a slice of cheddar quiche, and *swoon* a French toast danish. The danish was easily my favorite part!!! It was obviously freshly made and oh so good!!! They are no secret. They are tremendous in quality, service and price. My wife and daughter are Gluten free and addicted to their brownies. We served cupcakes for my grandsons birthday and everyone raved. It was a real sweet treat for all. My daughter says this is her new go to for great tasting cakes. I here the coffee is awesome too. It breaks my heart to write this and debated for a long time whether to post a review. I was so excited to book Stone Werks as the baker for my wedding because I'd heard amazing things about this company from various friends. Of all the little things to go wrong on your wedding day, finding our your baker has completely forgotten your cake is unimaginable. And yet, it's what happened to me. As I'm putting on my wedding dress, my day of coordinator informs me the cake has not arrived and they can't get in touch with the baker. Fortunately, my bridesmaid had their personal phone number and was able to reach them. When they got them on the phone, they admitted they had completely forgotten the cake and cupcakes we ordered (very far in advance and had received confirmation over a week prior). They rushed to make cupcakes, which were delivered half baked and basically thrown to a guest to put out when they did arrive. I should add, I spent hours creating a garland for the cake (no decorations, just a simple tiered cake) and the cupcakes we ordered were really my husbands pick, not my flavor at all. We also had a fun conversation about the care they would take to set everything up when we spoke on the phone in advance. The worst thing was not them forgetting my cake or sloppily putting together something, but the fact that they never called to apologize or make amends in any way. I even emailed them and never heard back. While the owners of this shop are lovely people, I would hate for someone to go through the experience I did without being aware it was a possibility. It is with great sadness that I consider booking Stone Werks as the worst decision I made for my wedding. read more
