Amazing and challenging course. Prepare to lose balls if you're newer and learning. We were warned however that this place can't get their act together and it's true. Restaurant closed Monday and Tuesday, but also no cart girl, no Marshall, no ice. The boys who work the carts didn't even have access to it. We sat on the patio and ate food from somewhere else and the door locked behind us. The lady working up front was new and I felt like she was thrown into this job untrained. Feels as though the old timers kinda run it and you're in their way. Prescott Country Club has it figured out, this place could but I don't think they care to. read more

SHAME ON YOU! I called 2 1/2 weeks ago and made a reservation as I was driving 4 1/2 hours to get there. I asked about arration schedule. "We won't start doing ANYTHING until the end of March." LIARS! Still 2 weeks away. I get there and tee boxes punched/sanded, fairways (I was told very rudely, also fairways wouldn't be punched). Plugs laying ALL over the fairways/aprons, and RUDE greenskeeper working as we had to hit around them. They didn't stop and this was mid day. Even scolded us for not waiting. Cmon guys... U can't do any better than that? I don't think I will EVER golf here again... AND neither will any of my friends! I used to golf here regularly. read more

A group of us headed up there for a round of golf and the course was great! Brett and his staff Mike, Steve, Sarah and Jazzy took care of us and were so friendly. The food was delicious. I hate giving this beautiful course only a 3 star review. But it's not the courses fault that management has no clue what they are doing. - $100+ greens fee... totally fine with me. Means I should be paying for quality. Course quality was perfection. Beautiful. - Driving Range closed.... Hmm... "it's closed on Wednesdays so we can mow....." I have NEVER heard of a golf course closing the driving range from the morning until 2 to mow the driving range. Maybe get up early..... maybe do it Tuesday night.... But please don't shut down your range. - no cart girl.... Seriously.... A course this nice.... No cart girl.... "Well we have one on the weekends...." Crazy to me.... - no water jugs on the course.... Ok.... This one honestly is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of in my entire life.... Today was 97°. Probably one of the hottest days of the year.... And no cold water on the course.... I asked them why.... "Covid..." ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS! 97°, no cart girl... their excuse for no water jugs.... Covid! - the guy at the check in desk NEVER SAID A THING about no cart girl.... Or "hey guys... it's a hot one.... Get water.... There isn't any in the course..." Great course. Needs a management team who cares about what they're doing. Oh and a bonus one for you.... Not a single martial on the course all day.... There was a group of 4 old guys who spent 25 minutes on one hole. Two different twosomes skipped that hole to get around them because they were playing so slow.... We were one of those twosomes. So all in all we only played 17 holes... overpriced.... Not because of the course.... But because they have definitely lost some leadership passion. I hope whoever is in charge wakes up or steps down so that someone with some real leadership and customer service skills can take over. read more

Stoneridge will live on in my golfing memories as one of the most unique courses to have every played. My boyfriend booked the a tee time for the two of us during a weekend away in Prescott. To pay only $100 for two times + a small bucket of balls in the heat of "best weather ever season"... such a steal! The course was oddly empty for a Saturday morning so we were able to play by ourselves. We had only two individuals pass thru us and besides them, didn't really see anyone else. The course is absolutely breathtaking and picturesque. If you don't play well, you can at least appreciate the beauty you see driving up, down & around the mountains and valleys it was built into. Each hole is it's own unique challenege from their tee boxes. A few were absolutely crazy that you can't even see the hole or fairway from the tee box (even including the shorter holes), but that's what made it fun. Also... ending the round with a 600-yard par 5?! Despite that (and losing about 10 balls total) it was a really fun day out together. Would definitely come back and try again and know I'd be faced with new challenges. Also - their restaurant/lounge has daily happy hour that looked appealing, but we had other plans, otherwise I would've totally been down to relax with a cold drink in hand at the 19th hole. read more

Been doing a yearly trip to Az since 2016. We have played some nice course and some course which I think was just junk for the price. This is my first time playing Stoneridge. To me this is the best course for your $$ in January. Not too hot because your playing at an higher elevation (for me anyway) and way cooler than Phoenix. After a seven year layoff from golf I decided to give the game another attempt. I visited Stoneridge to pursue my re entry; and during recent two week period, I purchased five large buckets. The check-in staff was very professional and welcoming. I enjoyed my first five visits and noticed improvement with each visit. On September 6, 2017 the Dictator of Golf and teaching pro, Tom Catanzarite approached me as I was gathering up some balls from the pitching area. I thought perhaps Tom was going to see if I was interested in taking some lessons from him. Much to my surprise, "Tough Guy Tom" assumed the role of a police officer with too much time on his hands. He began his interrogation with: Are you a member here? Did you buy a range pass? We can't have folks just come in here and gather up balls without paying. I showed Tom my range ball card and stated that I had been purchasing balls as evidenced by my 5 stamps on my range card. Rather than an apology, Tom continued to berate me in a condescending fashion by stating that when I hit balls I should stay within the markers and not hit from in front or behind the markers. I previously played the game for 25 years and understand very well where I am supposed to hit from. Not wanting to be denigrated any further, I retrieved my clubs and left Stoneridge. Folks like Tom are what drove me into a seven year layoff from the game. Instead of being a welcoming presence he single handedly reminded me of what is wrong with the game. If you are under 70, you will have a better experience at Prescott's other courses. If you visit the course, make sure you don't pick up any balls you didn't pay for or Officer Tom will be on you. read more

Played StoneRidge today and really enjoyed it. It was my first time out there in about 4 years. Conditions were really good. Fairways were nice (a little wet early on the first couple holes, but dried out nicely later) and cut just right. Rough was thick but playable. The greens aren't thick, but they were a little wet at first (2pm tee time) and were running slow. By the end of the round they had dried up and were quicker. There was a noticeable amount of mold on most of the greens on the front, but it certainly wasn't out of control or anything that would keep me from playing there. I didn't notice it as much on the back. I found the greens tough to read, though. They aren't very green in color right now, and with the light reflecting off them during midday, it's tough to see all the slopes and breaks. I got the sense that the course is probably pretty moist during the morning, but dryer and firmer in the afternoon. All in all, the conditions were well worth the $35 twilight greens fees. The $60 rack rate is out of my price range, but I'd recommend it if you have the cash. You may hear people say this course is a "gimmicky" layout. Yeah, it's borderline Mickey Mouse, and some holes are a frustrating bitch the first time through, but it's actually pretty entertaining on repeat visits. And this is coming from someone who really doesn't like any course with more than one blind shot (We-ko-pa Cholla, Terravita, etc). I look at StoneRidge as one of those roller coaster-type fun courses. Just let the cart's GPS and 150yd poles be your friend and you'll get around OK the first time. You can have some real fun on repeat visits. #18 gets some criticism too, and I must admit that it has a pretty terrible layup area. I didn't play the tips today, so from the pro/yellow tees I was able to get a big drive and 3-wood just over the green in two and didn't have to worry about the layup. All in all, a really fun course, but purists may not enjoy it. Well worth the 90-minute drive to get out of the Phoenix heat and play a fun course, though. read more

There are few things I'd rather be doing on a sunny day in Prescott than playing a round at Stoneridge. The course is stunningly beautiful and well designed. Playing golf here with a few friends is always a great time. The price is fair and the staff is accommodating. The driving range is also a great place to get some practice in. There's plenty of room and groups are spaced out well by the staff. The pace is relaxed and the atmosphere is serene. The course offers some unique challenges and elevation changes in addition to fast fairways and greens that are always kept in excellent condition. Anyone new to golf will find this course somewhat challenging, but it shouldn't detract from having a good time. The views are stunning high altitude mountain backdrops juxtaposed with immaculate, flowing fairways. Can't beat it. read more

Yet I drive an hour out of my way and am told I can't golf and that I'm not in the system. Show them my email confirming and they say they still can't let me go. The course conditions are usually good. The problem with this course is that it is really tight, and it's layout is somewhat ridiculous. It is target golf. A beginner will struggle. Though the surrounding area and ups and downs make it very interesting, one must really be careful on what club to hit, there are many holes that can easily be driven, or second shots into the rough, though you hit straight. What an amazing course! I have played here twice now. Once for a tournament and another just with a friend. Great staff and great upkeep on the course. Its a long course so its great if you like to bang driver most of the day. No rush, no pressure, they spread up the players pretty good and didn't add anyone to our twosome. Can't say how happy I am with golf pro (Tom Catanzarite) and instruction he gave me on improving my game. Had spent money on other instruction and it seemed that I was not getting results I wanted. WOW! sums it all it. I am a golf fanatic. If I could I would be a caddie on either the PGA or the LPGA. I love Golf. This is the best course in Prescott. It has real black tees that you need to be really good to play from just like Troon North. It also has white tees that will help make playing the course easier for men that are 15 and above handicap. Put your driver away you can't hit straight anyway. For the 14 and below the gold tees will make you sweat and get excited at every shot as you dial in on that pin. For the ladies the basic red tees that are really just right. For the low handicap ladies green tees that make it just enough of a challenge to soothe that competitive spirit in you and have fun kicking some men's butts. Lets finish this off by saying the bar, food, and staff were just amazing. Great selection of tap beers, the food is outstanding and fresh. The staff treated us like kings. I must say the rates to join and play are well within the range of the average retire or soon to be retire like me. Some say it is too tough, to them I say stop playing the back tees, you are not a scratch golfer and you don't look like more of a man back there. Your handicap is your swing. Stop by the pro shop get some lessons and spend some time practicing. read more

Course was in good condition even though it rained alot. We eventually got rained out but the course moved water really well. Greens were in good shape and rolled fast even with the heavy rain. The clubhouse staff was pretty good friendly they just needed to work on the communitcation during the rain delay. read more

Stoneridge is amazing! I am new to golfing and play a lot of city owned courses where I am from. That being said I was nervous to play here due to it being a challenging course. I will say if you cannot stay on the fairway you will have nothing but trouble (or bring plenty of balls). The course is beautiful. A lot of elevated shots. Driving is fun yet challenging. Most of the tee boxes are set back and you must clear the "gaps" to make it onto the fairway. The prices aren't bad either. I must say, even if the course was terrible I would return because of the staff alone. Incredibly nice staff who truly does whatever they can to make your experience pleasant. Mike and Kelly in the club house restaurant are awesome. So nice and accommodating. I had the turkey bacon avocado sandwich and it was delicious! The gentleman in the pro shop couldn't be nicer either. I didn't catch his name but he was a Veteran. He didn't look at us as if we didn't belong there like most courses I've played at do. The staff delivers a world class customer experience and it did not go unrecognized. I would highly recommend this course if you are in the area. I know I will be returning in the future even if I have to make the 300 mile trip out there. In addition the fellow golfers playing are very nice as well. read more

I have enjoyed playing at Stoneridge for the past two years. My wife and I also enjoyed eating in the restaurant with it's quality meals and good service. We have recommended it to friends and usually take out of town guests there. However, in the past two months, things have changed. The menu is less than enticing and the quality of the food has dropped. I don't know if the ownership or management has changed but we will no longer be going there. People we recommended it to have also commented negatively regarding the food. read more

My new favorite track in the state. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were in mint condition. Greens rolled PERFECTLY. It's always 10-20 degrees cooler than in Phoenix. Range was a little small but practice greens were awesome. Well worth the hour drive up north. This is better than Quintero and Dinosaur Mountain. read more

Highly recommend Stoneridge GC. An incredible layout - desert / mountain track that is very scenic, it will keep you interested and wanting to come back again. As a 9 Handicap I am always seriously challanged by this course. I travel to the Prescott area several times each year and must play this course on each visit, regardless of time of year. And in the summer time, you can "beat the heat" of Phoenix / Scottsdale and enjoy cooler temps. They also has a great practice facility for the days that I do not have enough time to play, but still want to hit balls, work on the practice short game green or the practice putting green. A tip for winter golfers - they overseed their practice range so you are hitting off of green grass instead of dormant grass (a real drag). The restaurant / grill is great to a post round drink or dinner. And some Friday nights they have live music on the patio. The Pro Shop Staff is very friendly and helpful, and I always feel welcomed. Best of all, it is a great value for your $, too! read more

Terrible, terrible food. Since the new management has taken over, the menu has totally changed. We have been going there for the past couple years and we had great service with wonderful waitresses and great food prices - breakfast, lunch and early dinner. Our wonderful waitresses have all left because of poor management. Plates are left out on the tables during the day (to make it look so Beverly Hills Uppity)so flies and dust gets all over them. The prices have gone up significantly and wine and beer have just about doubled in price. Terrible menu list - hardly anything worth while except maybe the turkey pastrami sandwich for lunch. Tiny, tiny tacos for $15.00. We will never go back because of the new management. read more

I am a member of the men's club at Stoneridge or at least I was until yesterday. On 4-30-20 I played there and my group had a bad day there with some bad conditions and inconsiderate groundskeepers which caused slow play. My group was upset and thought we should post it on Yelp for others to see so I volunteered to write the review. I went yesterday to sign up to play in the men's club and was advised that the GM (Dave) instructed his staff to not allow me to sign up and play with the men's club any further because of my negative review on Yelp. So now the course will punish you if you voice a negative opinion about the course so censorship at it's highest level and no 1st amendment rights here. So maybe now if you complain about something at Stoneridge they will not let you play there ???? They charge $80 to play weekdays there which is pretty much double what any other courses around charge and they probably think they are high end but this shows they are Low class. read more

Play here occasionally, challenging course. Yesterday's experience was that the sand traps in real need of attention, otherwise the course was in decent shape. My big disappointment yesterday was calling from the #9 tee to order a sandwich. The sub ($8) was not available so the attendant suggested a turkey club, which I agreed to. (Shame on me for not asking the price, in my ignorance I thought it would the same price range as other items on the menu). SURPRISE, SURPRISE....$13, YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT. I find that quite outrageous, very dis-appointing and the waitress was not overly friendly. I tried to email the course, but another dis-appointment......that page is not/was not available, so unable to communicate with them directly. Decided to post here so others can be for-warned...fair is fair, but what a rip-off. Will think twice before returning. read more

Interesting course to say the least. Here's what you need to know before you go based on having played it over 50 times since 2005. Your first time out, if no one in your group has played it and is willing to let you in on it's nuances, you'll finish with a stunned look on your face and a "what just happened" attitude. Don't worry, you just butchered your handicap which will help at your regular course. Play it again. This course has about a half a dozen "sucker holes" that will beg you to go for it. You'll see the yardages and figure you can drive over, around or through the transition. Guess what...you can't. After your baptism under fire (first round), you'll understand that it's basically target golf with absolutely no forgiveness. What else is maddening is that you may hit a beautiful drive only to find yourself on a sidehill or elevated lie. The traps do not have sand in them, it's more like a clay/gravel mix that when wet becomes like wet concrete. Plan on picking the ball rather than the typical PGA standard sand shot. Certain times of the year the fairways are cut too short so that the ball will role for miles but eventually roll off the fairway even if your shot had no sideways spin. Regardless, give it a go at least twice if you get the chance, afterall, everyone loves Disneyland occasionally. Keys: lay-up if at all in doubt, do not...repeat..do not hit it out of the fairway, don't listen to the Sirens and "go for it"...you won't get to where you wanted to be. Take 3 balls because when you are looking for yours you'll find 4-5 others and finish the day with over 30. (thank goodness bad golfers still use Pro V-1's). Remember you are at a mile high..judge distance accordingly. When in the boonies looking for your ball remember that yes, rattlesnakes do live at a mile high (yeah, I've run into 2). Plan on walking alot, up and down and all around. If you have knee or hip problems...bummer for you. Have a good side/up/down hill game. Think of it as an adventure rather than a game of golf and just enjoy the beautiful scenery and have fun flying around the cart path (yes I've witnessed the after effects of some roll-overs). Seriously, it's actually a fun course to play occasionally and there's no denying the beauty and inventiveness of sticking a golf course on the side of a mountain range (without removing the foothills). Give it a go, just make sure you have the right attitude before you tee off. Note: the carts used to have GPS systems but they were removed. read more

This is a target course, trouble left,right,short, and long. The course is in much needed work on the bunkers, fairways, and greens. Course knowledge is a must as there are many washes to carry and slopes that run the ball into trouble. Overpriced for the current condition. read more

BEWARE OF PHIL!! Played the course on a beautiful day with my son and got chased off the 18th hole by PHIL the course sheriff. Apparantly there is a specific time to have the carts back to the clubhouse so PHIL can get home to his pretty maiden before dinner gets cold. No one mentioned this at the clubhouse when we paid our green fee for a full 18 holes and there was still an hour of light left when PHIL demanded we leave the course. Reported the issue to the nice waiter at the restaurant who said we would address the issue with the staff. We left our phone number but nobody called to apologize. With so many great choices to play golf in the area, we will never return to Stoneridge. But if you do, be very aware of PHIL!!! read more

Target golf with beautiful views, laid-out on interesting real estate. Most of the holes are good, a few are silly. Problems include relatively slow and marginally maintained greens, long grass in fairways, tees and rough. Bunkers are very poorly maintained. Looks like the greens, tees, fairways and rough may only get mowed once a week -- even though mid-May is golf season. Standing water in many places suggests over-irrigation. Insufficient drinking water provided on the course. (Maintenance probably suffers from financial problems resulting from too little play and/or too few members. We played in four hours at 9AM on a Sunday and saw no one in front of us or behind. Also heard that they plan to raise their daily fees in a week or two -- they must think that demand is inelastic -- instead it'll probably drive people away & total revenues will diminish.) Grill is nice, good food and friendly staff. If what Stoneridge seeks is to be better golf than at the very public and often packed Antelope Hills, Stoneridge is, better but sadly not much. Capital Canyon and Talking Rock (both private) much better; Prescott Lakes GC (also private) typically a bit better than Stoneridge, but too often suffers from the similar levels of non-accountable and desultory maintenance. read more
