I've been playing Antelope Hills since the 1980s, and it's disappointing to see what has happened to a course that was once one of the premier municipal golf facilities in Arizona. The greens used to be primo--they were the signature of the course and among the best in Northern Arizona. Today they're slow, bumpy, inconsistent, and too often make good putts bounce offline. They often appear to be mowed only every two to three days, are rarely verticut, almost never rolled, and simply don't receive the attention that quality greens require. Cup and pin placement has become another major problem. Too many pins are cut on severe side slopes or in locations that make little sense from a golf course setup standpoint. They've got teenagers setting the cup locations, and it shows in the consistently poor pin placements. Old cup locations are frequently left raised or sunken by as much as a half inch, showing a lack of supervision and attention to detail. The practice putting green doesn't even resemble the speed or quality of the North Course greens. Players warm up for one set of conditions and then face something completely different once they get on the course. One of the most frustrating examples of the lack of attention was when a mower leaked hydraulic fluid across every green on the North Course, leaving visible dead trails. A mistake can happen to anyone, but continuing to mow every green after the leak started showed a lack of oversight and turned a small problem into a course-wide one. Many of the tee boxes are burned up and in terrible condition. They simply need routine spot watering and attention, yet they're allowed to continue deteriorating. It sends the message that course conditioning is no longer a priority. The frustrating part is that this isn't because Northern Arizona is too difficult to maintain. The other courses in the area have outstanding conditions and excellent superintendents, proving that exceptional turf is absolutely achievable in this climate. There simply isn't a good excuse for Antelope Hills falling this far behind. I've been a loyal customer for over 40 years because I care about this course. That's why this is so frustrating. Antelope Hills has two outstanding layouts and tremendous potential, but in my opinion the greens now rank among the worst in Northern Arizona. The golfers who have supported this course for decades deserve better. Management needs to make course conditioning a priority again. Restore the greens to the standard they once had, repair the tee boxes, pay attention to the details, and make Antelope Hills a course the community can once again be proud of. read more

They've recently eg maybe one month ago, hired a new head greenskeeper! Yepeeee. He's really working hard and getting the greens back in shape as well as the rest of the course. Nice clean cut lines narrowing the fairways with clean cut lines for the rough. Ok I know you read my course reviews so I've upped both north and south from two to three stars. Keep in mind five stars mean the PGA or LPGA could hold a tournament. So. Impossible for many course to ever achieve because of the design, length, bunkers etc. so a munie course like antelope this is a really good rating. If they keep this up it'll get four stars. For instance that crazy track at Stoneridge could only ever achieve three stars from me because it's track is nuttsss. Now it needs to educate the many hackers out there on where and how to drive a golf cart. Fix divots. Repair ball marks etc. another way to do this is to raise the fees. Ooops!!! read more

From out of town but saw the good reviews and had to play while we visited my dad. Service at the counter was quick and easy, directed where to go and the starter kept everyone on pace which was nice. The whole course was beautiful and the greens were pretty well maintained. Cart girl came by with great options to drink and overall had a good time. Would be happy to come back and play another round. read more

Something that I forgot when leaving. A single was grouped with a three some. Understandably, he wanted his own cart. Especially with covid going on you would think they would have no problem issuing out another cart. That was a big NO! They wanted to charge another $15.00. We recently played a round and unfortunately, it was far from a relaxing or enjoyable experience. The course itself was in poor condition. To make matters worse, our round was rushed due to a group of old, rude men behind us who claimed to be part of the "men's club." They were impatient and pushy, pressuring us to hurry so they could finish their game. We were going as fast as we could with the group ahead of us. Their attitude completely ruined what should have been a leisurely day on the course.The staff said we needed to accommodate the men because of their status, leaving us feeling unwelcome and stressed. I would not recommend this course to anyone looking for a friendly or relaxing round of golf. This golf course will not make it to the next generation of golfers. Nice laid back atmosphere. The course was in good shape for winter. We played the easier south course. Nice wide open fairways!

When you get to the chipping area to loosen up, you shake your head and try to remember any golf course in this bad of condition. Including a photo of what should be the chipping green. Driving range? Flag colors do not match yardage chart, no way to correctly practice distance control without a rangefinder. Course? Consistent with the rest. Positive? The food is not bad, inexpensive and the people work hard to please the customer. One has to wonder why the City of Prescott would try to make the golf course a profit center, rather than reinvest maintainence dollars in a facility they already own. Okay, to be fair, it's not a bad course. I'd say it's average in both conditions and layout. Pace was slightly below average. Here is where I'd struggle: knowingly employing thieves. Let me explain. I left my range finder on the cart frame (magnet). My gf called the next morning and was told "sometimes the guys will put stuff like that in their bag and take it home." When she asked "what guys" they said "our cart guys." I was shocked and called the next morning. They repeated the same thing. If a business knows this is happening, it's their duty to stop it...over time. Now, if I leave it while on the range and someone steals it, that's not their fault. But knowing you have people stealing found property and not doing anything is enabling, even encouraging it. Pathetic business practice. read more

My husband has been golfing here for years. Be aware, recently they changed the reservation process to use GolfNow, the reservation is immedistely charged to your credit card, not held. You are not booking through Antelope Hills golf course. Consequently, one person didn't show today at the tune of $55 and we are stuck for the charge. In addition, the golf course is having a 25.00 special that you cannot book through the online booking system. The manager would not do anything, stated call to book. read more

Played here a few times and it's a great course for all skill levels. Just an hour or so from Phoenix so you can play it in the morning and head home. Staff is friendly and rates are decent. I think they have lots of local specials too. The course is well maintained yet the greens are a little unpredictable (could be me!). I like it's got some challenge yet very playable. Where to begin? With there only being a few courses in the Prescott area that are public, you would expect to see a city owned course that is budget friendly. That is not the case with Antelope Hills. They currently are charging golfers 50 bucks to play 18 holes during the winter season and their supposed twilight rates are 30 bucks. They do have a super twilight rate that starts at 4pm for only 17 bucks, but with the sun going down at around 5 pm they are basically stealing your money. If you thought a course that is charging you 40 + dollars to play would have both the course and the driving range is immaculate condition, you would be wrong. The north course greens are littered with ball marks, making putting virtually impossible. The south course is slightly better but not by much. the fairways on both courses are hard as rocks. The driving range is simply terrible, the times I have been out to hit balls I am lucky to find a sliver of grass to hit off of. The maintenance crew seems to give little care to reseeding the range and caring for the maintenance of the course. read more

After setting up a meeting with Randy Picard and Chuck Delaney to see a possible wedding venue my fiancé and I were stood up. The guy totally forgot about the appointment and we drove all the way up from Scottsdale to meet with him. When we got ahold of Chuck he said "sorry I'm at home". Lol what a mess. No follow up from anyone. We went to the club house to ask for some info we were yelled at b/c I accidentally pulled in to the golf cart area with my car. Big guy comes running out rudely demanding we move. This place not only lost 20K in possible revenue but they are getting a horrible review. I like the course, plus it's convenient for me, and the price is right. The main beef I have is play gets slow. I get it, different levels of play and all. BUT, they send out quite a few fivesomes. In the last 10 of so times I've played, 4 times we have had fivesomes in front of us. We waited on at least half the holes with 2 or 3 holes ahead of them open. I wish they would stop putting out fivesomes or maybe at least marshal the course and keep the fivesomes moving..... read more

Update I went in and all the plastic dividers were removed as Covid-19 goes back up to what it was in the spring. Why did they NOT keep the dividers up? Most likely due to horrible advice from Prescott's anything-for-growth leaders. read more

This is a review of the south course on July 1 2022. The faways where all dried out and there where patches of dry grass everywhere. The staff was really nice. We played in 4 hours so that was nice. I will play there agin good value for 60 dollars. read more

The course was nice and well taken care of. The folks dishing out the golf carts were very nice, even the young gentlemen on the first tee box. What I wasn't alright with was the cart service on the course. Myself and my brother in law had a drink before getting on the first tee box. Enjoying ourselves on the course, hitting nice shots. Seeing the cart lady from a distance and not once ever came in our direction to ask us if we wanted anything. So when we came up to the 11th tee box I decide to give the course a phone call letting the person know in the golf shop what is going on. He said he would look for the person and send them our way. We didn't see the cart person thill the 14th hole. The lady at the bar told my brother in law that we should see the cart person on the north course a decent amount. Not true. Played the north course. Disappointed in the course conditions. You cannot tell the difference between the rough and fairway as it has grown together. A lot of bare spots on the fairways and rough. Greens are extremely slow and bumpy. Bunkers are just dirt with a lot of dirt clods. There is no course Marshall out to keep play moving. It is very evident that very little money is being spent to maintain the course. So sad!! Played the north again today 9-4-18, the bunkers are much better with real sand. There are a lot of bares spots in the fairways and rough. The rough is thick due to recent rains. Greens are fairly slow but seem to be in good shape, just need mowing and rolling. There are a lot of high weeds in front of the #5 tee box that obscures the fairway. Course just needs some care. read more

Great place to be in the summer 20 degrees cooler than Phoenix . The course is normally in good shape and pace of play is around 4.20. Mostly locals . Great food at the clubhouse. Greens are large and can be difficult to read . Fun course there are a few holes with blind shots read more

This course needs a lot of work there are dirt patches on most of the fairways right in the middle the sand traps have no sand they are dirt and many are hard pack and you might as well be hitting off the sidewalk. They don't put any rakes in the traps so you can't even rake the foot prints out of the dirt but most are do hard you don't leave any footprints anyway. read more

Course was in decent shape for the price. I was a bit disappointed that I was charged for 4 carts without an option otherwise (due to social distancing measures, COVID-19). Our afternoon was ruined by the course marshal who decided to close the course an hour before last light. He drove up on us yelling to return to the pro shop immediately. He proceeded to physically block my forward progress with his cart and treat me as a churlish child. I would not recommend playing here as they are not interested in customer service, but doing the least amount of work possible. read more

I would have rated this golf course more stars, but every time I play here the staff is horrible. Last weekend I played a round. I'm on the 9th hole approaching the green when im bombarded by a drunk ass sounding guy with a name tag on (dave) saying we needed to head in. I told him we paid for nine and we wanted to play till carts were due back. (which was another 30 mins.) he sounded like he said we have to go pay if we wanted to keep playing. Hard to tell what he was saying due to how intoxicated he sounded. I go into the shop to ask how much they would charge us to play a couple more holes till carts were due back. I was told $30 play for another 30 mins. (per person,my friend and I) I asked if we could walk a couple holes and the shop attendant said sure and then tried to charge me for walking. I said no thanks and was ready to pack up, then he said "I guess you could walk a couple holes" like he was doing me a favor. I get I only payed for 9 but at the same time nobody was out there and it was 30 mins till carts were due. This place doesn't care about good customer service because they have some many people coming through. This isn't the first horrible experience I've had here, the last time I played here was shitty and I said I wasn't going to play there anymore and that lasted about a year. then I come back to this no other course would have been that shitty to their customers! I cannot see why the poor reviews for this course. I am new to the Prescott Area and newly retired. Decided to take my friends up on their ambition to rejuvenate my golf game from years ago. I never played much before anyway. We live in Prescott Lakes which has a beautiful course of our own. But it comes at a very steep price! The golf membership is outrageous unless you'll golf daily. So they took me to this course and I have been coming back weekly for about a year. I love it! Oh did I mention you can walk the course for $24! Can't do that at PL course, have to ride in a cart and TUCK your shirt in! LOL! I get a great day on a great challenging course and a 7 mile hike to boot! The restaurant is good too. Staff is very friendly and never had an issue here. I talk to people that drive here from Phoenix, Anthem, Sedona and Flagstaff to golf. I better be careful or I won't be able to get a tee time. You can book it on line. Join the annual membership, it is worth it and the discounts are great. read more

Beautiful course. Played here when the "North Course" was the only course. Returning the cart was disturbing. When pulling into the lot, the Return Carts sign was facing the wrong way. Man who worked pointed out the sign in a very rude manner. Zero customer service skills, politeness. Won't be returning because of this. read more

Tonight, my husband, father, and I golfed for the first time at this club and were truly disappointed by the staff (specifically Dwyane Miller). We felt threated by this employee. We were finishing the 18th hole at sundown and Dwyane came up to us extremely agreesively with another employee and starts by first saying "we have been looking all over for you for the last 30 minutes." We responded by saying sorry, no one had told us the cart had to be back by 5:45. His next response was that he was positive that we were informed at check in with an extremely angry tone (he was not the one that had checked the carts out to us and no one told us). After grabbing our bag from the cart and on our way to the car he walks over to us to grab the cart and says "WHAT!" like he wanted to fight and proceeds to start yelling at us. He stated he had checked with the cart guy and he was sure he had told the last group (we were not the last group out). This was the poorest example of gentleman's golf and treating anyone (let alone a paying customer) with any type of respect. If I owned this course, I would've fired Dwyane right there on the spot. Inexcusable. I will never golf here ever again. read more
