I seldom give any business 5 stars because I think there is always room for improvement. I like this gym because it is truly a workout gym- not a pick up place so you can go in and feel comfortable working out .. and not looking your best. I like the seperate woman's part --- I love the Sauna and cleanliness of the gym, I also like the variety of the classes. I would say this is a neighborhood gym- perfect if you live in the area. After inspecting the gym and talking with the people I happily signed up and unfortunately was transferred out of Houston shortly thereafter. One of the reasons to live in that area of Houston would be -- for me -- to be able to use this gym. Otherwise, the sauna would have been just what I needed and wanted, and the private woman's workout room was great too. The only place that topped this was a gym in Los Angeles that had a sauna and a cold dip, however the shower is right across from the sauna, so it's sauna and cold shower. High prices for equipment that rarely gets updated. Lots of machines there with problems. Tears on the padding, out of order cables, squeaky equipment. The hours are the worst part. For $45 you can go to a 24hr gym with much nicer equipment. read more

I want to like this gym so bad but I just can't The hours are awful. They close at 5 on weekends! 5!!!!! If I'm scheduled to work on weekends I know I'm not going to get a workout in, so that sucks The cleanliness could be much better. Multiple times I've tried to workout on the mats and they've been super dirty and today I tried to workout in the boxing room and there was sweat and spit on the ground. I told an employee and he seemed to acknowledge me but I checked back after my workout and the sweat and spit were still there The good things about it are the privacy and the employees. They have lots of little rooms to stretch and do whatever which is nice, and every worker I've met has been great. And also maybe I'm just picky and all gyms are kinda dirty and have weird hours but idk this was my experience! read more

I've been a member of Stone's Gym for almost 26 years now. I was more than 40 lbs heavier and was looking for a life change. I certainly found that and more at Stone's. There is no where else that has the quality of classes and they have all the other machines and equipment to maintain fitness. In addition I have formed lifelong friends. We've been through births, deaths, sickness and accomplishments together. We work out together and play together. We are truly a family at Stone's. I've maintained the weight loss 26 years later and am now in my 70s still able to travel and have a good quality of life into my golden years. Stone's has truly been a blessing in my life. read more

I was a member here when they were at their old location. I signed up for a year membership. After the year ended I cancelled my membership because the gym was too small for my taste. They continued to withdraw my membership fees even after I cancelled my membership and called them several times!! I called and they kept claiming they couldn't find my cancellation form. They had very bad customer service and continued to rob me off my money. They only way I got the payments to stop we're to call my bank. Do not trust this gym or its staff!!!!! read more

I've been at the gym now for about a year. I love it here. It's clean, and maintained well. Nothing stays out of service for very long. At first I thought the size of the gym was too small, but I quickly found it not to be a problem. The staff are all nice and welcoming. I'm happy with my membership. I really like the members who go there, but the owner's policies suck...For instance, they went up $5 a month, and failed to notify anyone via email or snail mail...I noticed it, when looking for another charge on my credit card...I called and was informed it was posted on the desk in the front...I'm not there to loiter at the desk and read whatever MIGHT be posted there; I have better things to do...Since I only use the seated elliptical, I decided to buy one and make a lesser payment, instead of the gym payment of $47.63...After ordering my cross trainer/elliptical machine, from Amazon, I called on the 12th, to cancel the auto payment on the 15th, only to be told they require a 30 day notice to cancel...I didn't have to give a 30 day notice to join? In fact, my card was debited the very next day...Go figure... read more

I have been a member since July 2018 and the people who work there are friendly and helpful. I enjoy the other members as well. My only reason for giving less than five stars is the choice of music that is played. Far too much of the music played is obscene and vulgar and could be categorized as rap. The noise is distractive, annoying and difficult to work out to.The staff has changed the music when I asked, but the change is not permanent. I've been in many different health clubs and have never experienced such negative music. read more

This place smells like Bleach (and that is a great thing!), it's alway clean and the towel service is nice. They don't blast you-out with the latest teen-rap music so the Kids go elsewhere (a HUGE plus for me!). The equipment and trainers are all good. If you want the classes they are there for you but the staff is not "up your nose" trying to get you to go. I have been going to Stones almost daily for over 2 months now and I LIKE IT!! read more

Stone's gym does not handle members dues well. I cannot get my refund. I asked to leave Stones because of their polices and thus lost my favorite aerobics teacher. They do not want to provide services and there is no cleaning service, they depend on the teenagers that man the front desk. My recommendation is poor because they owe me money and they lost their best aerobics teachers and trainers. read more

I workout here quite a bit. I am a Las Vegas, NV resident(since 2005), but I was born and raised in Houston. I come to visit quite a bit and will stay for months at a time. I am able to workout here because of a promotion Marriott Hotel has with this gym. It is small place. They could certainly have a few more machines and the pool is tiny. I am just being honest. I guess it seems like I am about to give a bad review, but quite the opposite. The staff is very friendly. This place is always kind of empty compared to other gyms. So, there is no waiting for machines or stations. Most of the people have been working out here for years. There is an older crowd here. Most of the people who workout here are extremely friendly and very nice. They have everything you need to have a great workout. I can not speak about the personal trainers because I do not use them. I would recommend my friends and family to workout here. If you want a laid back environment...then this is the perfect place for you. read more

I've been going here a month and so far it has been a pretty good gym. Everyone is very helpful and nice, the equipment is fairly new, the locker room is clean, and the gym is never "super" busy. Although the gym isn't too busy, the free weight area is still pretty small. The gym definitely caters to an older crowd. read more

I became a member here in October 2015. What a mistake. I was told by staff that my 12 year old daughter would be allowed to workout with me. I even brought her with me once on a day pass to see if she would like it. I had to fill out a form, including info like her BIRTHDAY, which indicated that she was 12. No problems. When I came back soon after to get her a membership I was told by the manager, Amy, that the age to workout was 14.I was told that the staff member who allowed my daughter to workout was misinformed about the age requirement. That in itself is unprofessional. A week later I cancelled my membership, as I wanted to find a gym that would accomodate my daughter. I was happy to leave Stones. The building is old, dark, and dingy. The equipment is bulky as far as assisted weight machines go. And the vibe in there is just plain BAD. I'm a 30 year old woman and I was sick of being gawked at by 70 year old men, which make up most of their clientele. Since ending my membership in June of 2016, I have received bills from Stones gym totaling almost $300. I started receiving these bills 2 weeks ago. I am unsure what these bills are for. When I call Stones and ask to speak with a manager, no one is ever available. I have called and left messages three times, to no avail. This was also a problem when I was a member there. If there was an issue needing managerial attention, Amy, the manager was nowhere to be found. So many unresolved issues with many members because of this. I think this manager must be related to the people who own the gym, otherwise I think she would have been fired by now. I guess I will have to go to Stones in person, take time out of my day, to see why I am receiving a bill. It won't be pretty. read more
