Just moved in 3 weeks ago and we're supposed to have on sight patrol 24 hours and my car gets broken into, harassed about my service dogs pooping by the stairs and barking, when other tenants leave trash outside the door for days that smell, or have dogs that bark but they're never harassed or given notices. If it's not one thing it's another with this apartment. Maintenance has a tendency to leave your apartment with the job incomplete. I originally complained about my hot water not working. Maintenance came to "fix" the issue. I'm not too sure what they fixed because there is no hot water heater in my unit. Whatever they did, they had to unseal the the shower escutcheon and didn't seal it back together. I asked the staff if they could fix it. But unfortunately they refuse to compromise and fix the problem. I don't want to let the staff enter my unit without my presence because stonewood staff has to be supervised like they're children and untrustworthy. I've arranged my schedule numerous times for the staff to "fix" a problem and going into work late for my problem to be left unresolved is very old and tiring. Talking to management is like talking to a brick wall. I'm 100% sure that the staff lacks basic comprehension. They are also passive aggressive towards me. Yes this place is pretty affordable Compared to everything out there, but it's not worth the headaches. I've had multiple garage break ins, had 2 motorcycles stolen. And that's not the worst part. Management is trash. They harass and threaten if your late on rent. And I mean late by a couple of days. I woke remotely from home and Maintenance is always kicking back never fixing anything but the wedgie up their ass from sitting to long. This place isn't a home. If you decide to move out early they will bill you up until your lease is up. Even when they decide to kick you out. Invest in yourself by finding the right place. I'm going to be the one with the completely honest review. No bias. Just experience and you can decide if you want this experience. Keep in mind, there are over 200 units in this complex so clearly you aren't getting many reviews from actual tenants. The review is long because I'm up again due to my neighbors so I have time. I've lived here 2 years. I'll list pros first to be kind: -The groundskeeper is great and on his job. He's very sweet as well. -Desiree is awesome in the office. They said she doesn't work here anymore though -They did give me an extra few hours to pay my rent when some unforeseen issue occured with my check from China. Cons: -Poorly maintained apartments. My apartment was flooded prior to my move in (which I didn't know until it flooded 3 times while I was in it. Why? Because this complex does awful work and there is a crack in the wall (I have an end unit). I didn't notice there terrible patch work until it flooded the first time. I went out and took photos of course because it damaged my items. I had to fight this complex in several conversations because they said my renters insurance should've paid. I get so tired of breaking down logical things into layman's terms for the manager here. Girl, the insurance said they wont pay because it the complexes fault, which it is. But like any poorly run business they didn't take accountability and they never do (a big sign of bad business. Just even take a look at their responses when people do state issues, the always gaslight and use phrases like "We are sorry you feel that way" to blatant facts. ) If I AM NOT THE ONE CAUSING THE DAMAGE THEN IT IS YOUR PROBLEM. It's like hitting a car and saying they should pay their own damages because they shouldn't have been in the area (crazy talk). They were not aware that I knew there was prior damage to the building and then once I mentioned that & sent them photos that I had showing I saw the ill repair already they paid me for just my items, still not for my electric bill that wad terribly raised from them sticking fans in my home so many times. (See photos) It had visible mold growth and I asked them to repair also the tac strips. Maintenance came and he literally replaced the strips I could see at the time. The problem? IT FLOODED AGAIN so when the carpet came up again I saw. They are literally using 3 dollar bond to fix an APARTMENT WALL crack in the stucco at that. The carpet cleaner they have knows me on a first name basis because even he got tired and said "AGAIN?!" How embarrassing. In the meantime my carpet has been ripped up and placed down so many times it had lumps throughout. They offered me to fix their mistake or pay the money just for my items. Yes you read correctly, fix their unit due to the poor maintenance OR my money for my items. (See photos. Videos can not attach) THEY AREN'T DOING ME A FAVOR BY PAYING FOR MY DAMAGE AND FIXING THEIR DWELLING. BUT THEY ARE VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THEIR DWELLING BEING TRASH AS LONG AS YOU'RE THE ONE PAYING TO LIVE HERE. -Maintenance sucks with repairs but are tentative. In fact, when my place kept flooding out the maintenance stated that it was because they always get cheap labor to do the outside work in the complex on the concrete & such, and he was going to suggest that they redo the concrete platform outside because it's not leveled and the water runs down. Did they ever do it? Nope. Which I'm sure is why this place had flood issues far before I showed up. He also said he was having the same issues currently with another unit so that's 2 that you now know of. Do you really want to live somewhere where the staff is so shady they only move when you have proof? Do you want to send certified letters and always preparing for a lawsuit? Luckily I minored in pre-law but it's still another unnecessary task and draining to have to document everything happening daily, but I damn sure do. Upstairs once flooded their bathroom and guess what? Maintenance left a hole in my ceiling the entire weekend (Friday-Monday afternoon). Didnt even put a bag to catch all the droppings coming out & it's my only bathroom. Just because it "needed to air out" and they were off work. How disgusting. To top it off the repair is so bad the light cover wasn't able to be put back on because the work done was too bulky so now you can see cobwebs and dust & spiders definitely come out as it's pretty much open access for them. (See photos) -My upstairs neighbors are terrible, and I mean terrible. It's 4:32 am now but I was woken by a loud thud at 4:09 and the noise hasn't stopped since. I've lived in several apartments but never experienced anything like this I even had different neighbors here before that never were and issue day or night. AND FOR YOUR OWN MENTAL SANITY, DO NOT RENT A DOWNSTAIRS UNIT. there are many reasons as to why you should not live here, I'm going to focus on the ones that solely effect your quality of life. in the event that you don't see this review in time and get a downstairs unit, I will say a special prayer for you. 1 - the buildings mines well be 100 years old, THERE IS ZERO INSULATION WHATSOEVER. I was in the 490 square foot 1 bedroom apartment. TINY. you can hear literally EVERYTHING from neighbors closing a cupboard to nightly bedroom activities to full on conversations. in addition, the complex continuously rents the upstairs units to the morbidly obese. they allow multiple people to live in the tiny 1 bedroom apartment. there were 3 people living in the unit above me for the duration of my stay. it was constant noise and constant stomping. every step they took truly sounded like an earthquake. I tried talking to them personally, but there's no reasoning with trash humans. I tried every type of ear plug known to mankind. slept with them jammed into my ear canal every night and their stomping was so loud they still disrupted my sleep. I was too embarrassed to even have company over because of the unbearable ruckus. have you ever had your roof worked on? IT SOUNDS LIKE NEVER ENDING ROOF WORK. I complained to the leasing office so many times that I honestly lost count. nothing was ever done. after they moved out, 4 new people moved in!... a ONE bedroom! and they're even LOUDER! god help whoever moves into my old unit! in the state of california, there is only 3 persons allowed to live in a 1 bedroom apartment. will the leasing office ever evict anybody? nope! that's too much work for the lazy! on the contrary, as long as you pay your rent here you can literally do whatever the hell you want. seriously, they won't go through the efforts to evict you. 2 - back to the living in hell part. more downfalls of a downstairs unit. instead of a balcony, you're provided with a dirt yard with ENDLESS amounts of continual HAND weed pulling because there is NOWHERE to store any type of yard equipment. I sprayed endless amount of round up, they won't stop growing. I finally just gave up. you want the apartment's gardeners to maintain it for you? that will cost you $200 per month. these are things an APARTMENT TENANT should NOT be responsible for! 3 - in the time I lived here, my fridge broke twice. resulting in all my groceries spoiling before the fridge could be replaced. reimbursement? yeah right! they will tell you to pay a $500 deductible with your renters insurance. 4 - I have also watched this complex turn from full of families, to full of the ghetto. some of the new residents here would make you do a 180 if acquainted in public. constant congregating in the parking lot, blaring music, etc. started to feel like I was living in a halfway house. 5 - "KNOWLES SECURITY" IS WORTHLESS. they don't even show up if you call. when they are on the premises, which is hardly ever, they just sit in their car on their phone. they literally get paid to do nothing. 6 - the AC wall unit from the 70s STINKS like mildew! nothing to be done about that either. not to mention, the airflow doesn't reach from the living room to the bedroom so during the summer months you'll sleep in a puddle of your own sweat every night. 7 - the price here just keeps skyrocketing. when I first moved in my tiny one bedroom was $1230. now it's going for over $1700. NOT WORTH THAT. 8 - DO NOT CLEAN YOUR APT WHEN YOU MOVE OUT. I spent literally 4 hours deep cleaning my unit after I moved, just to be informed there's a non optional $140 cleaning fee. my apartment was cleaner when I moved OUT than it was when I moved IN! so please, don't waste your time like I did. I also advise to NOT return your keys early. I returned them 9 days early and they still charged me for that 9 days even though they said they wouldn't. very few pros but I will list them anyway since I said I was honest. there's a groundskeeper there monday-friday picking up trash and what not, and he's super friendly. dumpsters are emptied weekly. maintenance is pretty good about being on top of repairs (except for defective refrigerators). all in all, this was hands down the worst place I have ever lived. this place takes shitty apartment living to a whole other level. I didn't realize how truly miserable of a person I was until I moved out of this place. though how could you be anything but miserable when you never have peace and quiet? you never get a full nights sleep. I wouldn't live here again even if I were offered a unit FOR FREE. weigh your pros and cons. but I beg you, not to rent downstairs. read more

I am completely disappointed with these apartments. My daughter and her roommate have only been there 2 months and it has been one thing after another. Their air conditioning broke and they were given a small window unit in the meantime. It only cools the one room it is in. Their apartment has reached temperatures around 90 degrees. It was like that for 3 weeks. When maintenance finally got the parts in and replaced it, they stated that management had "dropped the ball" by not replacing it before the new tenants moved in. Now their refrigerator door doesn't completely seal and they put in a maintenance request a week ago. I have lived here for one lease year and have been incredibly unhappy. We've had two occasions (both in hot, summer months) when the AC has been broken. On both occasions, nothing to accommodate our apartment was done and the leasing office clearly did not see any rush in making sure anything was fixed in a timely manner. We also had to call maintenance several times a month about broken fridge items, broken plumbing, and broken appliances not done by us. Each time we needed to contact the leasing office, we were met with either annoyance or simply not responded to. Beyond all these issues, we also had to call security multiple times for domestic violence fears and these calls were only responded to once. This is not a good place to live if you're wanting to have a leasing office that listens to any concerns you have. read more

Moved-in the first of July I immediately fell in love with the apartments. I loved the fact that it's a gated complex and that this place is Dog friendly which was a major plus. Did have some issues but Ralph the maintenance man came in to save the day and that happened all thanks to the Leasing Consultant Gladis, who's been nothing but an amazing person. She's always making sure she's able to go above and beyond. And she was the one who convinced me that this place is somewhere i would call home. Doesn't prioritize tenets and if you work late you have zero parking. Doesn't enforce parking passes so it diminishes available parking for renters. You will be forced to park in unauthorized spots and apartments will tow/threaten to tow. The only option is to wait for hours for someone to leave or park across the street. read more

I have to find something asap , I went to this complex and Desiree met me at the door , she welcomed me in so fast and made me feel so special. She asked what I wanted/needed and when . The management staff is really professional, friendly, and is quick to fix a problem when needed. I have been a resident here for three years and have had two apartments. That lets you know I am pleased with my living experience. I started in a junior one bedroom and upgraded to a regular one bedroom after a year. I live on the side of the complex that has mostly singles and and new families starting out. For the most part it is very peaceful and everyone is very respectful. When I come home late I feel safe walking through the complex. The community is also very pet friendly. Even with all of the dogs around most of them do not disturb the neighbors. The community staff is GREAT! If I ever have an issue they are usually here to address it within an hour. The management company is always making upgrades. Since I have been here they have remodeled both laundy rooms and it is still only $1.25 to wash and $.50 dry. The laundry rooms are cleaned twice on most days. They have also added a fitness center. I also see them maintaining the roofs of the buildings, repaving roads in the community, trimming the trees, picking up litter daily and completing other general maintenance items. Johanna and her staff also try to do special things for the residents. Halloween they usually give out treat bags or have a party. For Christmas they had a party and created Santa's Village so people and their pets could take picture with Santa. They also gave away some good prizes. I saw a TV, Tablet, Phone and a bunch of theme baskets given away. They even dropped a little goody bag on my door for Valentine's day. It is a small gesture but I have never lived anywhere where the management staff acknowledge the residents. They usually just collect the rent. Heres why I finally had to get an accessable apartment for my needs in a wheel chair. So I decided to look into a place I previously Lived in 14 years ago. Well the years have NOT been good to someone and im not talking about me, so I get to look at the place and the supposive"restained" kitchen cabinets, not so much. I was fortunate to have new carpeting put in but in a wheel chair accessable apartment carpet is not a good thing. The paint that was done was so sloppy doors were stuck, fuse panels were painted over thats not a good saftey issue, and here comes the big issue... COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE.Thats right COCKROACHES EVEYWHERE.I am handicap so I dnt move very fast, I also have 2 children and would never move my kids into this place without something being done. So we are in this apartment for a week now,(well me and my family are staying at a hotel while the cockroaches have definitely moved in for good), I HAVE NOT moved ANYTHING into this place and so far management isnt doing a thing about it! So I finally get a call from the manager and she wanted to do a walk through to find these squaters, so we did and they were present and accounted for. i asked if it was sprayed before my move in date and i got theres nothing showing it was,then the response I got from her was im sorry we can do 2 options 1- you can move in ill get an exterminator out next week. (uhhhh nope).2-i can try and refund you out from the lease if the property management co.would allow it. So no brainer here I took what money they gave me back and ran.then the property mgmt co. would NOT reimburse me for the hotels(which I said ill meet up half way on), they said it was my choice to not move my stuff in. I've lived in this complex for a few months now and I have witnessed single-handedly, the incredible job that maintenance does for the apartments and the property in general. One worker in particular, Ralph, I believe his name is, has helped me and my kids out so much. When I first moved into my apartment, I was having issues with retrieving my belongings from my former roommate and I needed help putting together some furniture. I asked the office if I could borrow maintenance and Ralph was there within 10 minutes. He's done incredible work in my apartment, efficiently and courteously. He's helped me with throwing out heavy items and moving things in for me. Things he absolutely does not have to do. I often walk with my kids around the complex and he always stops and asks how we are. He interacts with everyone in such a respectful manner. I hope this man gets the recognition from higher-ups like he deserves. read more

Probably the worst place I've ever lived. Johanna is a shitty ass manager, never anywhere to park. I've been here for two years the sinks are pitts all the time. They should have cleaned my carpet after the first year they did. The private security sucks! People screaming and acting a damn fool in the pool durning the summer from sun up to sun up. Squatters washing up in the pool at 3am (I've seen this with my own two eyes as I'm leaving for work in the morning) and my neighbors... don't get me started on how loud they play their music ALL hours of the night. I hate to have to write a bad review about this apartment complex as I had a pleasant stay this past year. The main reason I'm writing a bad review is because I returned the keys on 6/1/18 prior to that I had sent in a written request to have management inspect my unit before I left and never did I get an inspection. I cleaned the unit and ensured that everything was done appropriately. Unfortunately I did not take photos. I vacated the unit on 5/26 and then returned the keys on 6/1 not to say I paid rent until 6/3/18. On 6/12 I received my refund indicating that a charge of $250 was applied for the bathtub because of damage. I spoke the Kathleen who referred me to corporate and according to her photos there was some sort of burn damage done. Once again the inspection was done after I vacated the unit and I was not present. I believe this is very unfair and unprofessional as there was a written request for inspection. I would never fight or argue something that I know I would have ruined but In this case I thought that was unfair. There is no other way I can get that money back and I can not file in court as I have no proof of my own. read more

This apartment complex has a lot of pros and cons. Pros: They are right on it if something needs to be fixed. Parking is never an issue. The landscaping is well-maintained. 2 pools. The women at the front office are so sweet and helpful. Very affordable rent. Community feels safe. Very pet friendly. Recycling services. Cons: HORRIBLE insulation. The studios come with only a small wall A/C unit on the opposite side of the apt from the bedroom, so if it's a hot day, good luck to you. The A/C doesn't help and all the heat heavily leaks in from every crack, corner, and window. The complex is right by a busy road so depending on where your apt is, you could be hearing traffic all day and night. And since the windows are probably from like 1907, you'll hear every car, every child screaming, every dog barking, every door closing. Oh, and if your neighbor happens to shut the door a little too hard or climb the stairs vigorously, it feels like there's an earthquake and you can hear/feel everything. It's kinda like living in a tent. All in all, I'd say, if you plan on moving into a studio in Stonewood, DON'T. I'm not sure how the insulation in the other apts are. But if loud noises don't bother you, then the apts with central air may be alright. read more

I don't live here yet but I feel it's very important for people to know what they're dealing with when they go apartment hunting because first impressions are very important. The woman I talked to, Kathleen, was so informative, professional and friendly... I didn't leave feeling confused or frustrated after the tour, only satisfied with the service and abundance of information I received. Avoid at all costs. To many people and not enough parking spots. Also to many people living in a single unit that make it really noisy. The Managment has raised rent every year and it's not worth the space here. I've came home to lights being on after leaving with them off and have heard from others the same so someone who works on site snoops through your unit. Stay away at all costs. read more

I lived here for a year and half and LOVED my little apartment, never no problems, Kathleen and Desiree are seriously the sweetest, most professional yet fun leasing consultants anytime I needed something fixed such as a new light or my closet door put back on track literally like 30-1 hour later it would be done. Property always kept clean, quiet neighborhood, friendly neighbors, the best living conditions I had at The Stonewoods. I was heart broken when I had to leave and had to suddenly move because I lost my job, I went to go to to Kathleen and Desiree and expressed to them that I did not want an eviction & they told me if I moved out by a certain date I wouldn't and that the company management would set something up with me to pay off my remaining balance due after I moved so it wouldn't affect my credit & they have have been SOOO amazing! Literally sooo thankful for them! Now I'm back in a good spot financially again and looking to move again but I compare every apartment to Stonewood and nothing has beat it yet... thank you Kathleen & Desiree!
