Great place to eat. The appetizer bread balls are amazing, we got some to take home with us. I am a big steak fan and can't even eat steak from most chain places because they are improperly cooked. Stoney Creek hits the spot. High quality meat perfectly cooked! Staff has always been great to us also. They always feel like normal people taking your order not some pushy waiter trying to get you out of there. My boyfriend had a steak and mashed potatoes & both were very good! This was our second time here. We were disappointed this time w/ the service. Our waiter got a big table right after we were seated & then we started to get ignored. I had to ask for more water & never got it, he did not come ask us if everything was cooked to our liking, he brought us our check & did not ask us if we wanted any dessert. Oh man, the steak here is so good! I had the legendary petite filet. Perfectly cooked and amazing. I'm gluten free, so I got a potato and veggie mix for my sides. I tried the Gascon Malbec, which turned out to be a great choice! The waiter did a great job and was sure to double check menu items for gluten and took my dietary restriction seriously. He was also very patient since half of our party was on time and the other half was running really late. My wife and I went to Stoney River last night for our 4th wedding anniversary. All I can say is it was a great experience! The staff was amazing, and was very attentive to our needs. The coffee cured filet is my go to at this restaurant, and I have never been disappointed (this last visit was no exception). My wife is expecting soon, and when she asked if the steak that was brought to her could be heated a little longer no one was offended, and the manager brought the steak and had her check to make sure it was satisfactory. They even brought us a piece of chocolate cake and a card for our anniversary (this was not planned or asked for by myself. I will always return to this facility as I have always been treated very well, and the food has always been consistent in quality. Thank you for making our anniversary special! read more

Highly NOT recommended... Dined here with my bf's family for a bday celebration (birthday boy's choice) on September 2nd. We had a 5:00pm reservation on a Saturday night. They had to split our group of 12 between a large round top and a nearby booth. HUGE FAIL. I asked if 2 rounds next to each other could be combined and the hostess, Allison, said that they had a 6:15p reservation that would be seated at the table next to us, and a 6:30p reservation that would be seated at the table next to that. Guess what? Nobody with a party that has 3 kids will dine for longer than an hour and a half. And guess what else? We were done a few minutes before 6:30p. Having worked in hospitality, and having family that owns restaurants and that understands hospitality, I really feel like this restaurant did not want to be bothered with a few strategic moves that would have left our group satisfied and wouldn't have inconvenienced the next parties. Our whole group was disappointed with the seating arrangement and dining experience because if it. I called the next day to speak with a manager, I believe his name is Devin? He apologized and said he would mail out a gift card to the birthday boy so he can go back and have dinner with his family (since they were seated in the booth and did not get to enjoy dinner with each other). However, that gift card must've gotten lost in the mail... or the staff at Stoney River really just don't care about their diners. As far as the food goes, they really charred a crust onto my filet mignon, which I felt like was a waste of a great cut of steak. Had I known that's how they cook their steaks, I would have asked for them to just sear it instead. They also didn't bring me the correct side with my dish. I did have the French onion soup to start with and that was delicious, so I gave them 1 star for that. We had been taking votes on whether or not to try a new steakhouse or get Lou Malnati's....we should have stuck with Lou's. Received a gift card for Christmas, and thought we should use it to celebrate - as it turned out, nothing in particular. The cut of meat was high quality, was well prepared, and came as requested - medium rare. Our sides were asparagus and burgundy button mushrooms. Both were outstanding - and fair stand-ins for our beloved fries. We had hoped to order the truffle fries, from previous experiences, but were told they were no longer available. :( We passed on dessert since our meal was filling, but have enjoyed the items we've ordered in the past. The good: - Very good meals, prepared well, and at a good price. - We have been served by competent to exceptional staff every time, especially this latest visit. - Decor is fun and inviting. Red Canoe prominently displayed hanging from the ceiling, great fireplace with "our table" which is great on a cold winter evening, and optional seats to watch the chef prepare his creations. Wow.. where do I start..first time my wife and I have been out since all the problems started in March.. I told her I got my job back last week since losing it in March and we need to get out for a nice dinner.. We always in the past had good luck here.but this time we both return our steaks.. I order a NY Strip Med Rare and the middle was still blue and my wife had the petite Filet suppose to be medium. One half was med rare and the other half was again blue in it.. way undercook .. I order also a loaded bake potato.. first one came out butter and sour cream.. Not loaded.. and their were only maybe 20 people in the restaurant..kitchen was slow.. then after waiting approx 5 mins or so ..they bought the same steaks back out on the same plates..all they did was pop it in the broiler.. Of Course all we got was a apologize and if we wanted was a cup soup while we waited for the steaks..( I did not order soup at the beginning why would I want soup now) Restaurants at this level should be tripping over themselves in trying to keep business.. with Good Service and Good Food.. you missed the point.. trust me I will not be back . read more

Had brunch there. Positives: the restaurant is nice. Negatives: the food is really unhealthy. The menu choices showed this. Also, it just didn't taste very good. We had 3 appetizers: deviled eggs, steak rolls, and spinach dip. The worst one were the steak rolls. So, in seeing all the unhealthy items on the menu, I thought I'd order the Cumberland Salad which came with chicken, tomatoes, avocado, croutons, bacon, and blue cheese dressing. I asked to have the bacon removed and the blue cheese dressing substituted for a vinaigrette dressing. To my surprise, this didn't happen. And even worse, the chicken was fried. The menu didn't mention anything about fried chicken. So, basically, I was between a rock and a hard place. If I sent it back, the stuff would just be thrown out. So, I ate what could. This was my first time here. Michelle was our server and she was wonderful. I ordered the filet mignon and I ordered it well done. This is one of the very few places that actually was able to cook it well done. (Other places usually can't get it well done and needs to be sent back to get it well done). This place has no problem cooking a steak well done. The only thing was the steak had a lot of pepper on it so next time I'll ask for a little less. The table we got sat at was in a side room and it was pretty dark and in the corner with no window (however it was a Saturday evening and we had no reservation). So make reservations. My party of 4 had dinner at Stoney River in Deer Park, IL last night. We'd been to this restaurant several times, and had enjoyable experiences. Last night was far from our previous memories. The service was lacking and inattentive. It took about 20 minutes for our drink order to arrive from the bar. When our appetizers arrived, it occurred to us that our table had not been set with silverware. I ordered the coffee cured filet and my friend ordered a regular filet (both ordered medium). My coffee cured filet arrived very rare (almost raw in certain spots) and my friend's filet arrived very well done. I changed my order to a prime rib sandwich (without horseradish sauce) and my friend ordered another medium filet. When my sandwich arrived with horseradish sauce, I decided to pass on ordering a main course. While my friend's filet arrived medium, it took over 30 minutes to arrive. Perhaps what was most disheartening about our experience was the utter disregard of the staff, including restaurant management. Until my friend explained to the manager (after our meal concluded) how unacceptable our experience was, nobody from the restaurant (waiter, front of the house staff, manager) approached us to acknowledge or apologize for this situation. Furthermore, when dropping $300 for a party of 4 (only 3 meals!) at a steakhouse, one expects a completely different experience, where the restaurant takes pride in its service and cooks steaks right. Came here obviously to eat and that's what we did ... we had lovely soups and we had a minor issue in the beginning of our order and a manager came over and wasn't leaving our table until everything was met at perfection with us she even offered free salad or soup of our choice .... my two boys had kiddies meals which were pretty basic. The rolls that they serve right before your meal arrives my son had devoured 3 baskets full with mini cups of sweetened butter (it was kind of funny)I ordered a healthy bistro chicken dish , perfectly cooked and my husband got a philly sandwich which he thought was very good . Oh and my little 4 year and the rest of us loved the French onion soup , I was surprised how much he enjoyed it . The restaurant is nice inside with candle lit tables and fireplace to keep us nice and toasty for the winter which was perfect when we walked in from the cold . Hilary was our waitress and I give her 5 stars because she was very kind and fast and treated my boys so sweet and she was very understanding the way they squirmed about and dropped utensils over and over and she respectfully replaced napkins and picked up whatever they fumbled off the tables. Some waitresses that I have seen in other restaurants don't really understand how kids could get all jittery while waiting for food but this lady did ! I don't usually leave reviews but I think this restaurant needs to know so they can improve. I love the atmosphere and the location. The service was excellent. However I was extremely disappointed by the food. Caesar salad started out great. I ordered the coffee rub fillet This is a house special However it's was so salty that was all I could taste. The meat seemed of great quality but I couldn't get pasted the salt. I should have returned it. I also had the roasted mushrooms which were also very salty. Kitchen, fix the salt. I'll start with the decor. It has a feel of Wisconsin supper club from the seventies, looks very conservative and dated. We ordered deviled eggs. They seemed to be bland, sprinkled generously with pepper and a tiny strip of bacon. Nothing great. For the main course we had a NY Steak and filet mignon. The steaks were made to perfection but got covered with fresh ground pepper and generous amount of butter, which made them way too rich. Then the asparagus we got with it was covered with butter again. Overall the meal was very greasy. The wine list for the reds was extensive but lacked variety, limited to American wines, so if you would like to flush your meal with Bordeaux or Chianti, forget it. So service was great (5 star). Now on to the could do better. For the price you pay for the meal I wish they would add a soup or salad or even veggies with out having to pay and up charge. . I get the whole steak and potatoes tradition but for an avg of $30 a plate. . I think you could add a vegetable at least. My son had the Mac & Cheese. The parts that weren't dry tasted pretty good but half of it was dry and you all know how kids can act about having charred food if its not a burger or a hot dog. . . Its was a nice place, ambiance for a steak house was good. . They even have complimentary valet. . . But i wouldn't travel back . . . Absolutely amazing. Food was wonderful, service was top notch! I have a fish allergy. Inquired about the crab cakes, wanted to make sure no fish were in then. Waiter checked for us. Then the manager came to our table, and assured me they would make them in a separate pan to keep any cross contamination of fish from them. Counted 17 tables open but stating a 30 minute wait. The food: Prime rib was the most tender we have ever tasted. Better then any steak place we have been to anywhere in the country! The filet with the coffee rub-to die for! Well first I tried this place because of all the pleasant reviews.... although it is pricey. I was TOTALLY disappointed. First of all the person on the phone taking my order literally knew 0 about what comes with what and what all is on things.... then we get our food..... ALL of it except the lobster bisque (which I'll get to as well) was COLD. I ordered the 12 oz prime rib medium rare.... it was totally tasteless and cold as can be..... like really???? Then were missing 3 different things..... and given I tipped 15 dollars on a Togo order I'd expect differently. Now the lobster bisque..... well I guess you can say lobster bisque with 1 single tiny piece of lobster.... which I believe may be crab.... totally let down....
