I've been a fan of Cooper's Hawk for more than ten years and it's probably the only chain restaurant I have sought out no matter what city I've lived in, and even sometimes when visiting other cities. I am a wine club member and am a huge fan of the wine tasting experience there. Though most months there are only two brand new wines to try, it's still fun to revisit additional wines I've already had and sometimes the tasting room associates will recommend blends of two wines that I haven't tried mixing before. I recently found out from one of the associates that you can bring snacks to the tasting, which has been a real lifesaver as generally I'm doing the wine tasting on an empty stomach before dinner. Now I bring pistachios or pretzels. I wish they'd offer their pretzel bread during the tasting, but maybe that would make people linger too long for the tastings. Dinner is consistently good here, with my favorite order being Dana's Parmesan Crusted Chicken, second favorite being the Gnocchi alla vodka, and third the Crispy Asian Sesame Chicken salad. And of course, all of these are made better with a side of the complimentary pretzel bread! Cooper's Hawk also has the best espresso martinis! Just sweet enough but not creamy. read more

Spacious location. Wine tasting up front is only $14!! After our tasting my friends and I dined in the main dinning room. We started with the chicken lettuce wraps and brussels sprouts. We enjoyed both appetizers. The lettuce wraps had a couple of different dipping sauce and the brussels sprout were very crispy. Our group decide to share 3 entrees including the pistachio grouper, red wine braised short ribs and the shrimp and scallop risotto. Our favorite was the grouper. The pistachio had a nice crunch and savory flavor to the fish. We also got a bottle of the Cabernet to enjoy with our meal. Our servers were nice. This location specifically (kildeer) is poorly managed, staff is poorly trained and the manager has zero customer service skills. Upon arrival, we sat outdoors and the heavy window shade fell on my friends hand, causing her bruising and swelling. Multiple waiters saw this happen and didn't bother to check on us. I asked for a manager and he couldn't have cared less. Just said "let us know if you need medical attention" and went on his merry way. The waiters are unprofessional, not skilled at all, don't know how to properly serve guests etc I've been to multiple locations around the NW suburbs and this one stood out to be the worst. It comes down to management and how well they are doing their job -- which they aren't. No need to visit this location again. There's plenty of other better ones. read more

Food was good but took forever . Our server kept apologizing for not being a good server but it didn't help the experience. My mule wasn't served in the correct mug which was off for me and not a true mule . When I brought it up he looks at me with confusion . He didn't know the menu which all servers should inside and out ! My candle was never lit after asking . He just said it ran on a battery . We didn't get seated until 6:25 for our 6pm reservation . I'm glad we got a booth and enjoyed my friends company celebrating my birthday but staff needs to be better . read more

It is very interesting how consistent Cooper's Hawk is from location to location. I was at an all day work meeting being held out at Lake Zurich that went until 5:30 pm. I was in no mood to drive back to Chicago in that traffic during rush hour, so my co-worker and I decided to pop into CH for dinner. Because I have a membership to the wine club, I was able to get us a bottle of sparkling wine to with our dinner. As usual, dinner started out with that wonderful bread, which was fresh out of the oven. For dinner we got a starter to split: they were offering a special flatbread of BBQ short rib, so we got that. That was a lovely starter, with the crust being just right where you could pick it up and each it without the need for a knife and fork. For dinner I got Braised Short Rib Risotto (Roasted Mushroom, Sweet Onion, White Wine, Parmesan, White Truffle Oil). This in general can be a hit or miss at a lot of restaurants, with the rice being on the crunchy side. Fortunately, this was not the case with my dish. The short rib meat was nice and tender, and there was a hint of truffle without overpowering the dish. I didn't get the name of our server, but she was very attentive despite the restaurant being busy. This location has a nice patio that looked nice. I don't get out way where this restaurant is located, but I will definitely consider this as a place to stop in for a quick bite when I am out there for corporate meetings. read more

We were out shopping and decided to grab lunch nearby. Cooper's Hawk was exactly what we needed. Easy parking is always nice. The exterior looks sleek. Inside it is stylish and comfortable. The hostess was very sweet and welcoming. We were seated in the bar area and our server came right over. She was very friendly and helpful. The lunch menu was diverse and offered a great value. We went as a group of 4 for a birthday celebration - for lunch. And, the lunch menu might be the same as the dinner menu. The appetizers are quite varied; the brussels sprouts and the bruschetta were great. Splitting 2 appetizers for 4 people was ideal. For dinner, a variety of pastas, fish, and meat dishes are where we focused. Filet mignon and Mahi Mahi were great. The Soy Ginger Salmon dish was top notch as well. Service was pleasant, frequent enough to refill our drinks, not so frequent to be bothersome. They specialize in wines, but we went for lunch and didn't get any. read more

Second visit in a week. Both experiences were subpar. Waitstaff seems poorly trained about wine club membership and at-table tastings, offers. Both times the food was not very good. First time, a Tuesday evening, we waited 45 minutes for Drunken Shrimp and another 45 minutes for our entrees which came out over cooked. My steak Chirascco was undercooked with a small flavorless portion, cold fries, shriveled up green beans. Total failure. Second visit, a Sunday evening, chicken Madeira was sickeningly sweet and braised short ribs ridiculously salty. Not sure if Coopers is going down since the PE buyout or the cooks in Kildeer need more training. Been going to CH for over 12 years and this has been the worst food ever. read more

Came here to celebrate a very important family event and both the waitstaff and the management seemed to have left all sense of competency and integrity at the door. We were seated at a table that was dirty and near other loud customers, so we asked to move. Mind you this was 15 minutes after being initially seated, as this was the first time the waitstaff even came around. After getting moved to a clean and quieter table we truly had higher hopes and figured things would improve. This was unfortunately not the case. We sat another 20 minutes before anyone came around to take our orders for food and drink. Waited another 10 minutes for waters to come around, 15 additional for appetizers, and another 15 after that for the entrees to come out. The food was good but not worth such a ridiculous wait. They then proceeded to not check up on us once and we sat for 20 minutes after finishing dinner to potentially get dessert. We put an order for that in and nothing came out for another 20 minutes, so we asked to cancel the order so we could just leave. Our waitress said in order to do that we would need a manager. Okay fine. No manager seemed to even exist in the first place. We finally got it sorted out after 10 minutes. During that time we also found out that our dessert order hadn't even been processed or attempted to get made. This whole experience left our party with restless and hungry children, disgruntled adults, and a birthday dinner absolutely ruined. Safe to say this will be the last time I or anyone in my party wastes their time attempting to eat here. read more

Food! 5 Star! We were sat at a table where I was looking at the garbage can a mop and a rag on the floor. Service is where you lost me. This is not Olive Garden. This is supposed to be a high-end restaurant with a really nice dining experience and I was very disappointed in the service we received. If the server had come in a timely fashion, I would've asked if there was another table we could sit at but of it took too long for him to greet us. He did apologize for taking so long. He took our orders and he did not know all the beers on tap, and there was only a handful. we ordered the caliber start with it came, and it was not calamari it brussels sprouts flagged him down, which was a challenge to do so, and he said it was his mistake that he pressed the wrong button. They are both next to each other. Often when something like this happens generally they'll take it off your bill for the inconvenience. Not only did that not happen it showed up and he came back and said your food is ready. I'll just leave it under the warmers to give you some time. When our food came, my dish was chicken piccata and he handed it to one of my friends dining with us who did not order that and said who had the chicken picante - I said I had the chicken piccata. when the check the brussels sprouts were still on the bill along with the calamari. Again hard to flag him down and when I pointed it out, he said nothing just took it away and fixed it rather than I'm so sorry ... this was a disappointing experience service wise and again the food was great, but where I sat was disappointing coupled with the service and it made for a 3-star experience. Wine and food were outstanding and exactly what you would expect from Cooper's hawk. We visited on a Saturday night and I have to start by saying the place was packed. That aside my only gripe with this visit was service was unbelievably slow. Our wine tasting server continually walked past our empty glasses numerous times till we finally had to speak up each time to get her attention so we could sample our next wine. We actually got better service from other servers that weren't with us. Dinner service was just as slow but I also know our server seemed to have many tables. The wine dinner was fun. Colleen was a great server . The the lobster and scallop risotto appetizer was delicious and flavor. However, the risotto was undercooked, and it was crunchy. The next course was chicken on top of mashed potatoes that was very, very salty with thinly sliced pears and broccolini beautiful presentation for dessert on the menu. It said chocolate croissants with a blend of fresh berries and granola. That was really good and vanilla ice cream but there weren't chocolate croissants they were eclairs And they didn't really have any filling and was a little dry. The champagne cocktail was great. I enjoyed the wines of the month one was a SAG white, which was a beautiful blend not usually a white wine drinker, but I really like that and the other was a sag red, which was good. They also had a visitor It sweet white and that was so refreshing. Coopers Hawk made it a lot of fun. The manager introduced the chefs and the servers and they even had a little trivia for romcom movies and you would win a bottle of wine. I knew two of the answers out of 10. I met a friend at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Kildeer. This was my first time at this Cooper's Hawk location. My friend made a reservation, so we went to the hostess counter to check in. We were greeted warmly and taken to our table. We sat at a booth meant for two people. It was a little small but it worked out alright. I ordered the pretzel crusted pork chop with mashed potatoes and broccolini. The pork chop was juicy and I love the prpretzel bread crust. For dessert we had the chocolate cake. The cake came with ice cream. My friend only wanted a bite but he liked it so much he ended up eating almost half. The cake was very rich and the ice cream was better than average.
