Stonington's Shrimp Caught the $13 lunch special and went with the fried shrimp, mac & cheese, cornbread, and sweet tea and I could NOT stop drinking it! Lol The fried shrimp were cooked perfectly and the cornbread was SO good! Honestly, it was even better the next day when I finished my meal. The mac & cheese was unfortunately pretty bland for me. I was really looking forward to that mac since this was a cheat meal so I definitely wanted more flavor there! I also ordered whiting but they were out. I've been coming here for years and I have always enjoyed the food. This review is based on service and not food. There's a certain type of business that's known for good food but terrible service. This is one of them. Today I came in and walked up to the counter to order but there was no employee there as they all could be heard in the back. I waited maybe a minute or two and had no issue with waiting longer for someone to come up to take my order. There was a group of elderly ladies sitting at a table and one noticed that I was waiting. I don't believe that she was an employee but she got up and poked her head in the kitchen and let them know someone was waiting to order. Again, I had only been waiting a minute or two and I didn't have any issue with it, nor did I ask that person to tell the kitchen I was waiting to order. An extremely rude female employee came to the front, had a quick back and forth with the elderly lady that had poked her head in the kitchen, and then looked at me and my girlfriend and said "I heard them come in. They can wait." As someone who has worked in the food industry that type of rudeness is usually reserved for when you're joking around with coworkers in the back. It's not something you say to a customers face. My time is more valuable than some bum serving chicken tenders and shrimp for $12 an hour. Food is worth waiting for. I love the flavor of the mac n cheese but could do without the breadcrumbs. The shrimp is perfection, so yummy and seasoned. The CORNBREAD is amazing, I don't eat cornbread but I was told I must try it, I'm glad I did! Aaamazing, 100/10. You just gotta try it. I was not fond of the Mac n Cheese, I don't recommend it, something about the texture was off and I wouldn't order it again. I always have to stop here while in Orlando. It's really like a ritual for me. I came in on Friday and ordered what I normally do. The lady at the counter was polite and attentive. But onto my order, which was 1 crab cake with 3 shrimp and for my sides I got the cornbread why is that a side I have no idea but it's really good. I also got Mac and cheese and the salad again. The crab cake and shrimp were delicious. The sauce for the crab cake I did not like it this go around I'm not sure what changed. Stonington's is easily the BEST shrimp place in Florida. I have eaten here several times and the food is consistently great. The counter service is great and the food is brought to your table. If you don't try anything else you have to try the cornbread. I am not a big fan of cornbread, but at Stonington's it might as well be cake. Best I've ever had. We asked them how many shrimp that they could eat, and the person on the phone said 11 maybe 12. My brother said he could eat 30. Stop by here on a whim since we were craving fried seafood. I have heard good things about Stonington's Seafood and glad I was in the area to try it. Place seems a bit tight with all the tables they have. Parking can be busy during peak hours, since there are other popular establishments. They offer a shrimp meal deal, but I opt to get the cod and shrimp platter. It came with a choice of two sides which I got French fries and rice and beans. The meal did not come with a drink, it is sold separately. The shrimp and cod were perfectly battered and fried. Came out hot so watch out when you are biting into it. The rice and beans was okay, it was on the watery side, but good flavor. Of course the French fries were yummy! We didn't see any trash cans to clear off tables, but the employee said to leave it on the table and they will clear it. Nice service and I would definitely come back here again. read more

Very tasty, and obviously fresh, food delivered to me promptly and with friendly service. Their signature item is the fried shrimp but I chose the chicken for my lunch. It was hot and delicious. My sides were onion rings and cornbread. Both were exceptional. The dining room was clean, which is as important to me as the food. The lunch special is a true bargain for what you receive. This is a great shrimp place! Maybe they have other food too, but as soon as I see the word shrimp on their menu I don't see anything else. The shrimp is big and butterflied, very lightly breaded and deep fried. Whenever I am on Kirkman Road my car gets a mind of its own and drives me to Stoningtons.
