This is one of the larger stop an shops I have been too, and I appreciate the size. Its clean inside, usually everything is fully stocked. The have a great beer section, great produce section and their bakery is amazing. Some of the staff are pretty nice, some are just there to work lol. They have a star bucks inside and a bank. They have to elevator locations to access the store, one by the main entrance and the other by the self-check out area. As with most of the Stop and Shops, they have the robot cleaning the floors at a slow pace, with constant stops because people dont know how get out of its way. Its almost as if folks want the machine to hit them lol. The deli section is good and their options for hot food are better than most stop and shops. read more

disappointed, a third of the store is so poorly lit you can't read product labels. half the sale items don't "must buy quantity" on their store signage, nor do manager specials get priced correctly, nor do many of the 3-day weekend sales, so once you reach checkout and are carded, $16 worth of sale items ring up as $20, then you got to remove-credit all the items the computer got wrong, or wait online at a separate customer service desk hoping they take pity on you. so basically the only reason to go out of your way for their weekly sales circular items, ends up being a total bust and waste of time and effort to shop in the middle of nowhere queens. food items selection and prices are good, fruits and vegetables are display quality but expensive for Queens. i would skip all the over priced houseware items and non food consumables while here, as even their sale items cost more here than Target. my middle age cashier was in over her head, before closing the cash drawer she hit the next customer button, so she no longer had any idea what my change back was... i had to show here the receipt she had just handed me - doh. i doubt i will ever come back here, even when having to go to the home depot nearby. read more

Buying some last minutes items. Always come here and usually never have an issue. Ms. Mary (orange hair (incase there is another Mary)) has really poor customer services. Mary did. It greet us when she initial saw us, instead Mary noticed my boyfriend mask was below his nose and Mary had ask for him to bring up his mask. Sure, No problem (she was doing her job). However, Mary decided to make a smart comment, "you know we all want to make it out alive when we get out of here" and rolled her eyes. She appeared disgusted. We then went to grab something from bakery. We walk back to the registers and she begins to watch us from far. Usually, I don't write a review but her behavior really grind my gears. read more

The thought of rating a supermarket (particularly one as ubiquitous as Stop n Shop) seemed suspect to me until I read some of these reviews. I work in Middle Village and come to this Stop N Shop about 5-6 times a week for lunch. As my work hours are 5-1:30, I am normally in the store while it's at it's emptiest. As far as supermarkets within the 5 boroughs go, this one is definitely at the top of the list for cleanliness, quality of items and stock. There is seldom a time I come in to the store and find an empty produce section or a gaping hole where my favorite Greek Yogurt should be. I cannot make that claim for the Stop n Shop in Maspeth. The Sushi is made fresh every morning ( I know because I watch him make it) and the prepared food is good for what it is. I'm not walking into this store expecting my pre-wrapped Turkey sandwich to taste like it came from the Carnegie Deli, but it beats Subway in taste and price. As for grocery shopping, I have on several occasions brought a cooler & Ice with me to do my shopping here (I live in Nassau). The prices are far better than my local Waldbaums and the selection is better too. I will admit that walking here would be difficult based on it's location, however it is actually set close to the residential area it serves as opposed to some distant shopping center. The store is large and has good selection on most items. The positives are it has some good sales on yogurt, icecream and dairy in general as well as tea and single coffee. I find their fruit and meat items a bit pricey, almost whole food prices. My first experience in the store was unpleasant, as I finished my shopping,I went looking for plastic cutlery and was followed so closely by a store associate, they almost bumped into me as I paused for a second. Having returned on other occasions,the staff are pretty unfriendly for the most part and I tried asking questions today about a particular item and got some rude and curt responses. After visiting this store the day after I had issues with the whole department disappearing on me, I went back to the counter and spoke with the young woman there, who apologized profusely. She was VERY nice. I know that it is not her fault, and it's not personal, but if you have a small department in a big store and have customers coming in, you stagger lunch breaks - it's as simple as that. read more

They have a new manager and the difference is very upsetting: Most of the staff doesn't seem to care about customer complaints any more. With the former manager(s), complaints were listened to fully. Now a staffer will listen and give you a quick response, but if you want to add something else, the staffer walks away. Very disturbing. read more

For a grocery store, this location of Stop & Shop is pretty good. There is a lot of variety and some items that I can't find at local grocery stores. Their Indian section has a surprising amount of options, though my one complaint about the items in stock is their lack of Mexican groceries. Even the more common items seem to be missing. The prices are reasonable and even when it's busy they have enough registers to account for it. It is open until midnight so you have plenty of opportunity to go off hours if you so choose. The woman at the seafood section is always helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. While I wouldn't go out of my way just to come here (or any other grocery store honestly, unless they were the only ones around that carried a speciality item), this is one of the better ones in the area. read more

Unfortunately this place recently has gone down for me, this used to be one of the best super markets by the house but now it seems that not only is it the most packed with people but also the most empty when it comes to meats. I have gone in on a Wednesday late afternoon and have not only found great sales on angus meats, but also a good selections of it, yet go on a Thursday to a Sunday and not only has the price doubled (for the same exact cuts) but there is literally nothing left but that one poor little pale full of fat rib eye no one wanted for $17.99, and this also goes for chicken, they don't discriminate. Finding shopping carts and disinfecting wipes is now a lottery game, all depends on the time and day you which should not be the case. The market is still clean, the veggies and fruit section is still fresh... just please fix the meat issue as I am sure I am not the only one with this concern. read more

We used to love this store. It has great sales and specials, (although you do have to make sure the digital coupons are applied, they aren't always), is large with wide aisles (not the norm around here), great variety, great prices, great parking, extremely friendly and helpful employees. It was our favorite store, not so much since the pandemic. It seems that at least 95% of the employees do not wear masks, including the managers. We did not go the first year of the pandemic, so I don't know what the situation was then, but each time since. It is very upsetting. Many of the shoppers are masked, but not all, but there's not much you can do about that (especially since the staff isn't). Last time I was there I saw 3 employees masked. The cashier was wearing her mask correctly. The other 2, who were stocking items, had their masks down under their chins. None of the other many employees even had a mask on. We love this store but will not be returning. Covid is still here, and surging in NYC, so I would rather shop at a store that takes it seriously. read more

Definitely like this location, but further than other Stop/Shops, so only come here on occasion. For one thing -- they have a Starbucks! Hot day buying groceries , this would be a convenient and tasty treat. Elevators to go up and down to the parking, I assume. A bit of a winding walk to the lot otherwise. I walked up the ramp and pushing my groceries, not gonna lie, got a little winded there. It's smaller than Grand Avenue one, and don't have as big a stock, as in less of each product. They have everything, just much smaller quantity. Some produce is fresher (organic cauliflower), some is not as fresh (organic apples and lacking the variety), couldn't find regular mangoes and the mangoes that were there had a lot of brown spots on the skin. Their health section was pretty good, but they didn't have smooth organic peanut butter, just the crunchy, and that's what I was looking for. A fairly large alcohol section, or maybe it was mixed with other items. Plenty of self-checkout lanes and the fact that they had about 4 (or more?) of "less than 12 items" self-checkout was appreciated. The one on Grand Avenue, it sucks waiting behind someone who has literally 88 items and they take about two hours because self-checkout usually has more issues or they get significantly more confused without someone to talk them through everything. Then they also have regular self checkout lanes (2-3), one was out of order though. An attendant was there, and stayed there. I hate when the attendant wanders off and you have to chase someone down when there is a problem. Smaller store, aisles not as wide, produce section not as large, although the bakery looked pretty damn good. General space between aisles and the register lines is smaller, so if lines start to form, there is no way you are going to be able to pass. Parking is in a garage/deck, shared with other businesses. I like this because on super hot days you have shade and your car isn't a sauna by the time you come back to it. ***Stop and Shop in general is not the cheapest chain, so be aware of this before you shop. We have gone to this grocery store for a couple years now. It's a pretty standard Stop&Shop. Large, well stocked, good selection. Always plenty of parking. Staff is generally friendly although some are more helpful than others. However, this review is mainly for the Starbucks. The lady working there yesterday morning (I wish I had caught her name but I didn't) was so sweet. It was my daughters 3rd birthday and she was telling everyone who would listen. I stopped for a coffee after we finished our shopping, and the lady working at the Starbucks surprised my daughter with a small hot chocolate as well! It was such a kind, sweet gesture and totally made her day. She was so excited to have her special little drink the rest of the morning. Thank you so much! read more

I wrote a review on there Westbury location, but wanted to review this one separately because this is my local, "go to" supermarket. Its in a complex, they have pizza, (pizza place is delish, check out my review for pizza classica), liquor, ac moore, chase, petland and a fashion bug. Nice size complex, gets busy but worse case scenario you have to park on the 2nd floor, which is not the worst thing in the world since there's an elevator up there. Parking garage no charge. Plenty of shopping carts, inside and outside. Entrance to supermarket is like on the underground level, so they have a ramp or an elevator to get you down there. Place is a nice size. They recently did some restructuring of the departments and where the items where located. ALL of us where walking around pretty confused, but I'm sure it was for good reason. customer service is good. they are helpful. they have the deli kiosk where you punch in your order, get a # and go shopping while they get your order ready....LOVE THAT! Meat selection is good, they have a wonderful cheese dept with every cheese you could think of, I really like this about stop and shop. Well stocked produce department. Bakery could be better, it kind of small and by the time I get there things are finished (or maybe they just don't ever have them, like the rainbow cookies and the cheese bagels) that's a little annoying. I will say that when I do get bread, muffins or cookies....they are always fresh! Bakery also has a section of "day old" baked goods that are reduced, its by the registers. I've found really good focaccia and garlic bread from here and its normally good for a few more days, I have even froze it and then popped it in the oven....works really well, got that tip from the food network! What I don't like is the self check out! Its really a pain in the rear end! Its weird, there's no belt, there's a bag holder and they want you to put your item directly in the bag once you scan it, so they can weight it type thing. This causes a bit of a problem, you can only put so many things in one bag and when you move the bag the register get kind of confused. there is an employee running around helping everyone, but this cause it to take longer, and the employee is annoyed most of the time. At the other location we go to, they have a belt which make it so much fast, scan, throw it on the belt, and you can just keep zipping the items down the belt. wish they would work on the self check out area, as the lines are generally really long. read more

As compared to my previous post of the SnS in Maspeth, the supermarket on Union Tpke is a bit more attractively arranged and upscale. At the entrance are Starbucks and Citizens Bank. Bear left are the produce section, bakery, delicatessen and seafood departments. The layout is similar to the suburban installations in the tri-state area with more variety of products available; especially sections dedicated for home/garden and organic products. My issue with the market is the accessibility other than by car. You have free parking but try negotiating the traffic within. Very crowded and congested when I visited on a Saturday. Best head towards the rooftop parking and save the angst. Another issue is lack of public transportation there. The Q23 stops right up front but you need to walk from the stops at Woodhaven Blvd on the Q11,53 and a hazardous one at that. The sidewalk is only on the south side of Union Tpke, then past the train trestle, it becomes more accessible. Thirdly, the store is open until midnight weeknights and 11pm on the weekends. Overall, it still worth a visit for your Stop and Shop experience. read more

When i walked in I felt like Jodie Foster at the end of Contact, in awe of the beauty and wonderfulness of this store. The aisles were clean, organized and stocked. The produce / deli / bakery area was wonderful. I was able to order my deli meats through a computer! No talking to anyone necessary!! Just punched in my order and came back when they announced it was ready! Then I was able to self checkout with no lines and no fuss. All in all it was the perfect shopping experience. AVOID this place between 5-7pm on weekdays and the weekends. You will not get the following items if you don't listen to this guideline: 1) parking spot 2) shopping cart 3) and just about all the good sales If you decide to shop during non-rush hours, this place is better than most supermarket. Though I would avoid the veggies (it never look fresh) It recently added a "portable scan" device so you can scan everything as you shop to decrease wait time at the checkout. I like to get the gross half priced sushi late at night. I don't know why though... Pro tip: the check out machines give up to $200 cash back. My bank isn't nearby so I buy a pack of gum and get cash back from Stop n Shop. You can do it over and over if you need a lot of cash and don't mind a wallet full of twenties. read more

The teller "Jimmy Banker IV" at Peoples United bank location inside the stop and shop was just bragging to me about "leaving a customer on hold all day, because his account has been closed for 2 years so they can't help them" it is the worst customer service i have ever heard. I'm just here to deposit checks, i do not need to know about any other customers. This is no the first time i thought you the teller was weird. If this location wasn't the closest to my office, i would never go here again. They are the most unprofessional bank i have ever seen but they try so hard to shake your hand, but the counter is so tall it is uncomfortable and they try and make conversation but everyone I've talked to back there is quite weird. Best shopping experience I have since moving here to Forest Hills. Its definitely not the closest place to get to from Queens Blvd. by foot but you could always take the Q23 bus to the last stop or drive there, which parking is free. The supermarket is huge with spacious aisles, a decent size bakery section, and organize deli section. Love the friendly staff and patient customer service center. There is also a Starbucks for you coffee-folks by the entrance if you doing a midnight shopping-run or an very early one. Majority of the items that are on sale are always fully stock, unless you are shopping Sunday late, late night. I love the fact that I can just grab a scanner by the entrance and scan items I need and verify the prices immediately before placing them in my reusable bags. They also sell reusable bags and insulated reusable bags. If you are planning on keeping your cold stuff cool until you get to the check out section this is a great idea. ****One last note: Avoid coming here during peak-times during the weekend. It is so jammed pack inside the store and parking lot it is unbelievable. If you have to shop during the weekend either come really early before 9 am or just take the bus. read more

So, my inlaws came to visit from Ireland back in March and I took them to this store because I had a few errands to run (and my husband wanted them out of the house so he could get some work done). You know the scene in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory when everyone enters the chocolate room? Picture two 70 year old irish people having that exact same reaction to a grocery store. "The apples, they all look so perfect!" "You have so many OPTIONS!" ".. and a bakery - marvelous!" "Look at that beer section!" (well some stereotypes are true) It's expensive though in comparison to some other stores, so I go here pretty much for meat and meat alone. I go to a farmers market for everything else. 10 stars for the comedians at the deli counter.. seriously they are all hilarious. Go get some turkey just for a laugh. Also they have a redbox. And I can ride my bike here. So yea, I'm a fan. read more

LOVE this Stop and Shop. I wish it was closer to my home near Atlas Park Mall. I went here today for the first time and was taken away by the size of the super market. It's huge! Much better than the Stop and Shop on Myrtle Avenue. Plus they carry this brand called Quorn. It's a company that makes meatless, but yet soy-free products. I'm really a fan of their Naked Chik'n Cutlet, which is basically fake chicken cutlets. So great to use in recipes, and can be prepared in a number of ways. So yeah, this Stop and Shop location carries them. Surprised Trader Joe's doesn't have them in stock. Quorn website: http://www.quorn.us/Home/ Anyway, it's easy to shop at this location, and the employees aren't spazzy like the ones over at Myrtle Avenue. Bonus points for being in the same shopping center as that AC Moore art supply store. The only drawback is the location itself. They're are super friendly and helpful as well...I'm in there like twice a week. Their prices are great too! I use the stop n shop discount card and also in conjuction with the Shell gas points. This Stop and Shop is not far from the Trader Joes and so I often go to both grocery stores on one trip. The first thing you will notice about this Stop and Shop is the dead end lane on the side parallel to union turnpike. I don't know why this lane exists, but it can be amusing to watch people drive down it expecting to cut through traffic, but having to stop and reverse back out. There is parking available on two levels and two elevators. Parking is sparse on the first level, but better on the second level. There is a cart area once you enter the store and some sale items right in the front. There is also a Starbucks kiosk and a bank. Generally the produce section has decent sales and anything you might need. They have a bakery with assorted cakes, pastries and bread. The deli is usually pretty busy and you can wait 10-20 minutes to place an order. The seafood section has decent sales as well, but highlights a common problem with this store. Often times the store will run our of a product because of a sale or just regularly, but the product won't be restocked for weeks if its restocked at all. I first noticed this with some soups, but I have seen it happen with some frozen shrimp entrees as well. The aisles are clean and usually clear of boxes or debris. Good luck getting any Yoplait yogurt because they are often sold out of it. I've tried many other yogurts because of that and I am thankful to have broaden my horizons with some good sales as motivating factors. The checkout aisles are always an issue at any grocery store. I always go to the self checkout aisles and they are simple and easy to use. There are only about two non self checkout aisles open at any time so its a good thing self checkout is easy. There is almost always someone there to assist if there is an error or a mistake. They also give coupons almost every time you go offering one product free for every 2 that you buy. Sometimes you will get a 5% off your next purchase which is nice. I have also used the gas rewards program to save money on gas at Shell stations, but those are few and far between. Overall, this Stop and Shop is good with a few annoying issues. read more

This store was no help! The self check out was giving me some weird prices so I decided to ask for help to void the transaction so I can go to an actual human being. I requested help but no one came. Sure as hell, I decided to walk away and I see an employee rolling in her own personal cart(name tag name Donna) ringing up her own thing. I asked her if it can be voided and the attitude from Donna was so gross. She raised her voice and said no you can't cancel it and you just screwed up the register. I was so shocked by that response. Then she yelled out Jason someone screwed up the register, cancel this out. Hey Donna, I worked as a retail manager for almost 6 years and the pos system on all these stores are very similar. To void a transaction there is a button that you push called either void sale or void transaction. It might require a password from a manager.... I did not know pressing one button was hard to do. I also did not know abandoning a sale at a self check out SCREWS UP the register. If you are still wearing you name tag for stop and shop it means you are still representing the store. I do not care if it is in your off time, your decision to wear you name tag if you clocked out. That is no way to talk to any customer. read more

This Stop & Shop frequently has problems with its Deli Department. I waited an hour to purchase half a pound of Cheese and Turkey today. When the manager was contacted and notified of the issue there was no problem resolution for 45 minutes. He had a few employees call out of work and he had to call other people to come in. They're understaffed and management refuses to do the work in place of an employee when required. After arguing with another customer he simply left and ran to his office in front of the Supermarket saying he had a whole store to run. Great to know that a customer's concerns are so insignificant to Stop & Shop. I never want to come back and advise others to stay clear. God forbid there's an issue that demands management attention. I *love* this grocery store! They have a HUGE selection, their muffins are HUGE (I'm a big fan!) and they have a great selection of everything. Three problems: 1) the lines for checkout are always REALLY long, and move very slowly. 2) it's sometimes hard to find things you need, as the shelves are just packed with so many options, you really need to know the layout of the store if you intend to make a quick trip to grab a few items. And 3) though they offer a great variety of vegetarian products, they sporadically run out of certain items (for a whole month, they had NO Boca meatless "burger" crumbles!). Other than that, it's such a great place - well lit, clean, and I love the fact that there's a Starbucks in there. read more

This is definitely the top supermarket of choice when it comes to any other supermarket near me. Its huge, clean, nice, not a lot of bums lingering around (even though there are bottle machines), lots of sales, easilu sectioned aisles....etc. The staff (and even the customers) are very friendly and the over all vibe is great. I love shopping here. The only drawbacks are that the parking lot layout really sucks (whoever engineered that layout is an absolute idiot as an architect, in my opinion. So, yeah, thats not the stores fault), so on a busy day, like a holiday, forget about it, It's chaos. And another drawback is that sometimes on slow weeknights, they don't take as much care replacing shopping carts downstairs wherw the store entrance is. So you'll get there, and there will be no carts. So you'll have to walk back up, or take the elevator, back up to the the parking lot and then walk around in hopes of finding one left sonewhere.. It's really annoying, especially in cold weather.... Other than those things....the store itself is amazing. The staff is amazing... read more

Got stuck going there today, against my better judgment. EVERY time I go to this Stop & Shop I remember why it sucks so badly. The self-checkout register wouldn't take my coupon, so a staff member had to help. She told me that it wouldn't indicate that the coupon had been accepted until I relinquished it to the machine. How am I supposed to KNOW that when all the thing says is discount: $0.00??? She acted as if this were the most self-apparent thing she'd ever heard & was desperate to ask whether I was mentally deficient. But, I find unintelligent people who master simple tasks assume that everything they know is self-apparent & anyone who doesn't see it as such is unintelligent, logic be damned. we've started coming here for food shopping as suffering through LIE traffic on summer Sundays is a pain (and thus minimizing our trips to the Bayside Waldbaums). overall, I'm a fan. it's huge and clean, with double-wide aisles big enough to make U-turns in. prices are reasonable with plenty of store-brand options in almost every aisle. great selections in meats, and an absurd amount of cheese. there's even a dedicated aisle for allergen-free, soy-free, gluten-free, organic, lactose-free, blah blah blah health buzzwords of the week. there's a Starbucks here too? yes, indeed. when they're working - sometimes the system is down - there's the price scanners which you use to scan your items as you place them in the cart, then simply check out and bag at the end. I haven't tried, as both times they've been down at this S&S, but I've tried it at other locations and it can save a little time. the dead end lane when you drive here coming from Union Turnpike (westbound) always gets me. don't take that immediate right, but go just beyond it. plenty of parking, and with the vast majority of it inside that's a bonus during inclement weather. in contrast, in Bayside there's only a few spots in a building that you still need to exit to go shopping. parking is free, thankfully. read more
