Stop n Shop in the sands is the absolute worst. 2 days im trying to get a custom cake made. Both days no one there, go to customer service have them paged, still no one shows up. Terrible service. read more

Rather annoying incident happend with a grocery pick up- A young man who works for the store was rude- uncooperative - insolent- and actually made me load 8 cases of soda into my car myself ( I am a senior with disabilities) Brought it to the attention of the store and corporate. Left me with the sense they really are brushing this under the carpet- a bit patronizing to me. Oh well- There are other grocery stores... Seems like alot of their rating reflect is less than well run store. read more

I was at the checkout today at The Sands Stop & Shop on Long Beach Rd in Oceanside, NY at approximately 1:30pm. An older woman at the checkout was very nasty and aggresive. This was also confirmed by another shopper right in front of the manager, Zulma. I asked Zulma why her employee was being so nasty and if she was going to do anything about it or talk to her. Ms. Zulma did not care at all, gave me a lost kind of look and had nothing to say about it. Is this really your manager? She and her employee were just awful and I will not return. read more

Not a bad grocery store- has great sales sometimes...but can you please hire people who don't roll their eyes and suck their teeth when you request help. There are some things that customers need assistance to do on these stupid self check outs and if we must use them, it would be great if the woman working there on Thursday early evenings recently was at least pleasant and didn't act like she was doing you a favor. read more

I just visited stop & shop as I regularly do two or three times a week and I had never met a person so despotic to deal with, I bought a lottery number I said hello to her I said it was my first time and she did not respond to the greeting She didnt smile I told her I wanted another number and she said no, she did not understand, I know my English is not good but I showed her the ticket and said I want to buy another and in a rude way she said she did not understand! really stop a bad time, people like that should not attend the public! read more

For the past weeks the dairy department has not kept up with keeping the dates of the milk reasonable. Speaking to the dairy manager is hopeless. This week On the 5th the sell by dates were for the 10th with one of the skim milk dated for the 7th. They have excuses like not packed out or nobody is in. At least 4 other people looked at the dates and walked away and commented that this is a regular thing. I ended up bringing my groceries (approx. $40 worth )up to the customer service desk and telling them to have the dairy mgr. to put them away. Today i went to the Atlantic Ave store their milk was dated 24th and was fully stocked. While the Long Beach Rd store is in walking distance I would rather shop at the Atlantic Ave store which is cleaner and better stocked with helpful people. read more

I hate going to this Stop & Shop.. I moved into the area from Baldwin and I am a frequent Stop & Shop Is patron. Going to this store is like going to the gallows. Nobody who works here has a smile on their face except for the shopping cart collector. He is the friendliest person you will find on the property. I make it a point to say thank you and have a good day to the people who work here. Sad to say they either, say nothing or just look at you. The front end manager's look and act so miserable. And forget self check out, they watch you like a hawk.. It makes it very uncomfortable to use that Service. If you have the option, use the Baldwin store. They are much friendlier there. I am glad to see that Frank is now working in this Oceanside store. Maybe he will bring some smiles to the employees here. read more

See we buy a lot of gluten free groceries and Stop and Shop's have always had a very nice selection. This one is pretty big and they have a nice GF section with very reasonable prices. My stop and shop card gives pretty good discounts so I am regular here. Look, when a small loaf of gluten free bread is $6.00 you take your discounts where you can get it! BTW try their bakery's red velvet cupcakes (not GF) but extremely yummy!! read more

I can't leave a review for the new one in Baldwin harbor but the cashier there. She sucks, she's rude and she needs to learn how to pack people's food and not toss the food around. What a POS. My first visit was excellent but this one cashier needs to go back to cashier school. Rude girl. read more

Okay, Stop & Shop. It's in a strip mall, so that's a plus & minus. Plus cause of it's proximity to other shops but can also get a little crowded, but I'm sure there are better times to shop at this Stop & Shop when it's less crowded. I probably would've given it more stars, but I'm really loving the other new Stop & Shop that just opened in Oceanside more. read more

This shop and stop was great besides the cashier PETER. It was our turn the be rung up and I look at PETER with a smile and said " Hi, how are you?" He looked and us and said nothing. As I'm bagging my own bags waiting for him to help he just keeps staring and me and my partner. He didn't even tell us our total he just waited there for us to insert the card. I find this very frustrating and would hope stop and shop does a better job at hiring. Unfortunately I strongly believe PETER is a young kid who doesn't want a job and just is there to collect his paycheck and not show an ounce of good customer service. Deli & meat department are huge disappointments. Don't bother with the deli kiosk because you'll still be standing around for hours after your number is called. Same story every time I go. Favorite response when I complain: " We're working on it now". So, why call the number if the order is not ready? And the meat department has gone to crap. Everything is shrink wrapped. Not much in fresh cut meat. read more

In my opinion best stop and shop in area for selection. I can always find my hard to find sodas, tastycakes, hostess. Also have a decent bread aisle.. wish they would stock up more on diet lemon turkey hill refridgerated iced teas.I always use self checkout so cant comment on cashier expierence. read more

I haven't posted a review of a supermarket before, but I had two bad experiences here from the deli that I wanted to share. First, I bought corned beef from the deli counter and when I opened it to make my lunch the next day it was green! Since this location is on my way home from work I gave them another shot and thought let me buy packaged turkey this time. Well... I didn't check the sell by date until I got home and I found the item expired over a week before I purchased it! In fairness, every time I returned the product the clerk at the courtesy counter was friendly and apologetic but after two bad experiences I figured I'd share with the wider community. read more

Stop & Shop is a rippoff today. In the store they are advertising by way of signage on shelf, Thomas' English Muffins for $4.39 buy one get one free ( of equal or lesser value ). On my receipt (which I obviously should have checked in the store, before I was miles away) I was charged $4.49 twice for two packages one of which was supposed to be free. read more

Waited patiently at the customer service counter while one employee was on a personal phone call and the other walking back and forth doing nothing. When I finally asked if someone can help me- I am told it will be at least 5 minutes as they need count a draw. I politely responded that the customers should be helped first and received an attitude! They not only lost me as a customer but the gentlemen behind me... Staff are courteous and friendly. Store is clean. Food prepared are always fresh and delicious. Company is good to their employees, especially those going to college. They don't hold back paychecks or LIE about hours worked or didn't work. CANNOT WAIT FOR STOP & SHOP TO OPEN UP IN LONG BEACH! read more

i shop here all the time mostly because I live close by...well now I have another reason to shop here. Today I lost the key to my car and was trapped there. I circled the store a couple of times Asked the front desk if anyone turned in the key nothing. I asked the store manager Nick if he knew of anyone that handed in a key and he said no, but he would help me retrace my steps. So we started in the produce section and he was asking all of the workers if anyone had seen a car key. Low and behold Nick and a produce employee dug down into the salad section and found my key. I was so excited, they were beyond wonderful. Kudos to the staff at Stop & Shop. Thanks again. read more

The store is nice, but the prices are much higher than Pathmark down the block or Waldbaums nearby. That is what is important...

Why do I keep giving this store a second and third chance. I always leave there with high blood pressure. Its not worth the few dollars you save. In the past I have brought home food that was expired ( never buy anything fresh there) the lines are long, the register receipt was always wrong, the employees have there own agenda that has nothing to do with customer service and the customer service department backs them up. I.E. Once I was packing my groceries and the checker started throwing the next order down the belt on top of mine. I could not pack fast enough and I said you don't pack and she said " not me I have a bad back " well so do I. Contacted customer service and they wrote back "sorry to see you go" And I went. When I have come back a couple times since then I have asked employees can you help me find.... Answer "no". Tonight the last last shopping day before Thanksgiving all the usual personal conversations going on between the employees that are hanging out and not helping customers - but at least they seem to be nice to each other because I have also seen fights erupt amongst the employees involved in a work love triangle. They would not last 5 minutes at King Kullen and that where I will go 100% of the time from now on. Not only for fresh food, but for the civilized atmosphere and my health. read more
