It seems clear to me that most of the blame goes to the pharmacy, because they have changed their story, their excuse several times on a dime. They are the only provider of Ambien 6.5 ER tablets, that's why I continue this masochism. Every month it's a comedy of 'adults' who can't get it done. One time I called them, and they put me on endless hold. I drove to Stop&Shop and walked to the counter. The woman was holding the phone but joking with another employee. They both ignored me for another several minutes and then I told them 'I was on endless hold' on that phone. The woman said 'so what?' That's what's in store for you. read more

In-store Stop & Shop is great, but don't trust their delivery service, it's run in such a way that it's basically a bait-and-switch scam. They wait until 2-3 hours after you can no longer cancel your order to tell you what they'll actually deliver and what's conveniently out-of-stock. But they still charge additional delivery fees based on what you ordered, not what they actually delivered. Today I ordered $150 worth of groceries, and agreed to pay an additional $30 in delivery fees and a tip for the driver. Three hours after my order was "finalized" they informed me that they were only delivering $17 worth of groceries. But they still charged the full $30 in additional fees. Last week I ordered chicken legs that were on sale, and a couple of bottles of soda. Hours after my order cut-off, they emailed to say that the sale items were out of stock. They delivered the soda, but still charged the full delivery fees and driver tip as if they had delivered fifty pounds of chicken. Well, they got me for the last time. Their prices are great, better than the warehouse club for some items, but that only matters if you can actually get the items you order. Had a wonderful experience during my first visit a year ago. I couldn't wait to introduce family members to this restaurant. Returned last month with my sister and was very disappointed across the board. Food was disappointing mediocre, Place was almost empty yet I had to work hard to get the attention of server who was cleaning and arranging things while serving. I was embarrassed since I had recommended them so highly to my guests who were pretty disappointed. Will not return. read more

Shopping with a friend who attempted a transaction at the service desk. An employee who was not working behind the desk-was very loud and rude to her.she was so upset I encouraged her to call the manager who was apologetic. One bad apple has us convinced to just shop elsewhere. read more

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. This store has gone right downhill. Shelves are bare in a lot of spots, they seem to be out of everything, they do not have sale items so that is false advertising. Price gouging galore. Now, employees are blocking aisles n because the store has decided to restock shelves during the day and save on paying extra for the 3rd shift. The ones in the personal aisle refuse to move , all I wanted was a bottle of Advil and it was like pulling teeth to get around this woman. We both dug our heels in. I won. Pharmacy - understaffed, underpaid and overworked with telephones that apparently are just props. It should not be my problem that stop and shop is reducing its stores - and yet it is! I put in a prescription 2 weeks ago - with a preferred manufacturer due to health issues with certain chemicals, Nothing to date! I am almost out of my medicine that I need to live and inspite of promises to keep me aware of what was happening to the medicine order - no text, no phone call no nothing. To make it worse - trying calling to talk to the druggist. I tried for several days and all the phones did was ring until it timed out. When I finally got through, the pharmacy person put me on hold and then disconnected me. I called again and the phone just rang. So I called and asked for the manager, he got on and while I was just starting to introducing myself he put me on hold and played music, no warning, no please hold - just rude disconnect. Yes he did hang up on me. In all over our years with S&S we have been please with the store and pharmacy in other locations. So Stratford...Nice way to treat a stop and shop long time customer. After numerous bad experiences with this store, I decided to give them another chance with a delivery order. So many items were out of stock or substituted, it was rediculous. Once I ordered some coldcuts from them and the ham looked like it had a rodent nibbling on it. I have given them so many oportunities to do even a "passable" performance to no avail. The chicken was horrid and not even close to what we ordered. They put a few extras in we didn't order, like Vitamin water. Charged us of course. Never again. Was at the deli last night, placed my order on the machine. Mind you the store wasn't busy, I would rather shop and pick it up before I leave the store. The woman behind the counter had short gray hair and was older. So I shop for at least 1/2 hour and finally my order confirmation text comes through. So I go back and she says "oh I'll be with you after I take care of this customer". So I'm confused and say can you just please hand me my order so I can be on my way because it's usually in the case, mind you I'm confused because the case is empty. So she says "in the only one here". So I wait 5 minutes and ask again can I have my order, why can't someone hand me my order. Im getting more annoyed the longer I stand there not understanding what the hood up is. So now I'm thinking they are just f&$king with my on purpose and I say that out loud. Im in a rush and my time is valuable as is everyone else's.So she calls another guy over and asks him get my pick up order. All she had to do was say oh I'm sorry I got busy and it's not ready yet and I would have been fine, and how about cracking a smile. The frown is contagious ppl. If you hate your job or ppl in general then quit! I was in a great mood until I encountered this nasty sad person, get sone counseling if your that unhappy, your attitude sucks! She never says sorry about the inconvenience, just rude. It's your job! So he starts cutting my ham and now I'm irritated. You continue to be horrible. I know we are all stressed but your cashiers need to relax and manager if you're putting pressure on your workers, you too need to relax. The cashier was harassing me about my daughter who's under two not wearing a mask and she kept saying her boss and very strict about children not wearing a mask and she wouldn't lay-off. Check the expiration dates of any yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, or any other dairy products you get because they sure don't! I've bought things on many occasions that were a week expired and didn't notice until I got home. And they're far enough away from me that it's not worth the hassle to go back and return it. Very irritating. Also, not the best Stop and Shop as far as variety. I've been to others that had a lot of cool items, more flavors of things, and more limited edition products. This location seems to stick a bit more to the basics and repetition. read more

I had to update my review because today I experienced such great customer service from an employee, Dawn who was working the self checkout aisles. Not only was she helpful but she was so patient (she had to come over 3 times and then I had to run and switch an item). It just felt really good to have her assistance and share a laugh. The employees here are the best part. They're generally helpful and courteous. The produce is another story altogether. I have had the WORST luck with eggplant here! Several times, I've brought it home and cut into it within a day to find it dark brown on the inside, even though it looked fine on the outside. I think it gets frozen somehow. I have also brought an entire display of clementines to the manager's attention because every single package had at least one moldy one. read more

Only 2 people working the registers and the self check out takes forever with all these different systems. It is so frustrating once it is check out time. One full service lane, one 12 item or less. Today five people in line in 1 full service lane, the head cashier talking with her friend on the phone. When asked to open another lane she said when she was done and went on to talk for another 4 Mins, before she told her friend she had to go. They had 7 self service lanes open. I refuse to pay top dollar to this corporation and have to scan it myself. It's bad enough I have to bag it myself. They want us to do the work that they are supposed to be paying employees to do. Never enough cashiers! ...no matter what time I go ...even some of the self checkout lanes are closed and the others are backed up

This store is being run as if the company is trying to go out of business. The department managers kill themselves working for this company and they get no appreciation. Entrances are filthy ALL the time. EVERY time I buy half and half it's spoiled in a day or two. I kept holding out hope that the half and half issue would fix itself but I guess not. My girlfriend works for the company and won't ever shop here. Bathroom is a mess. All the hand sanitizer dispensers are empty all the time. Part timers are made to wear terrible looking mustard yellow shirts. I've heard rumors that Ahold is taking this company down like they did A & P. Prices are ridiculous. read more

Have had less than acceptable experiences here with both product & service. For example, beef meat goes brown after two days; berries go moldy after two days. Tried once to return something (with receipt!) and the manager-on-duty was rude and dismissive, and wouldn't even help me (the 'Customer Solution Center' was closed at that time and he told me I would have to come back another time; I was not content to hear this!!). I would encourage others to seek out other grocery markets! read more
