Almost every single time I buy an item on sale they charge me full price at the counter. Do I have to take photos of the product with the sale sign? This has to be illegal. P.S. The reason why I gave it a one star is because when I addressed the issue, they didn't even bring it down to the sale price...... the item originally is $7.50 the sale was for $5.50 and I was charged $6.50, wtf is this inconsistency. So this morning I picked up a few things from stop and shop and I usually avoid the self checkout but nobody was manning the real person checkout so I hesitatingply went to the self check. I needed assist maybe 3x for this experience because I had to delete an item, wrong price on another and unable to read scan on the 3rd one. Mind you, they were separate calls therefore Joanie had to help me three times. Now , I understand everyone has bad days so I am not sure if it was the reason I felt utterly disgusted by her treatment , or maybe she should stay in an office and not in an area where she has to help people. Just saying. If you are in the service profession, this attitude no matter where it's coming from doesn't cut it. Maybe you have valid reason for the abrupt and almost condescending attitude, that's not my problem and I shouldn't be subjected to it. read more

Produce is poor looking, expensive (3.39 for apples per pound). Province and fruit, even though barcoded, doesn't scan. At register, screen does not display savings (you question if sale items are registering) until 3 steps into payment process. Fire the person responsible for programming! The people there have no smiles, are not ready to assist you. They look like they hate life and ShopRite. read more

I've been coming to this store for 4 years now. For whatever reason, everyone except for 1 sweet lady who operates the self checkout registers have negative attitudes, are very unpleasant and have poor customer service. I live in Teaneck and now go to ShopRite In Paramus just to avoid these unfriendly people. The workers at the registers are nice though, but I never have enough groceries to go there and don't want to hold up the lines for a handful of items. In regards to my experience and the noted experience of other customers, this issue tells me that there's a cultural issue with these particular workers at the self checkouts registers. I feel sorry for the one lady who is always nice and always willing to help. Management needs to observe how the workers at those self checkout registers talk to and treat people. read more

I purchased a happy birthday balloon set that was listed for $18.99. The lady proceeded to charge me for each balloon, stating it was not included even though it was all together. She was African American with blonde hair. She normally works in the section with the flowers. At this time there was no one in that section, to tell me otherwise. If this is the type of employee you have at your establishment I will not shop here again, and will advise my friends not to. read more

Overpriced and terrible quality items. I have found expired cheeses in the cheese section on more than one occasion and I even picked up one piece with mold on it! Yuck! The store managers look clueless whenever an issue arises or they are always short staffed in every department (deli and registers especially). Seems like they have less and less employees meanwhile managers stand around looking doe-eyed at customers. I finally decided to stop coming regularly after a few months ago I witnessed a RAT, yes a rat in their bakery department. I even overheard employees talk about how they didn't want to buy items in the bakery because of it! I only gave another star because of the delicious fried chicken they put out by the lady in the deli, Joy. She is so fast, friendly, and consistently makes amazing fried chicken. I only come back for her prepared foods. However, one time I came in for fried chicken when she wasn't there and a!bigger man with a beard in the deli put them out and they were soggy when I got home and pink near the bone. It tasted like he cooked them only halfway and let them sit on hot plate all day. I don't recommend coming here unless you want to pay triple the price of Shoprite items or you are in the mood for fried chicken (only by Joy). read more

This review is for the bakery department only. I came to order a birthday cake for my daughter's first birthday. I came with a photo on my phone. Eve was amazing and patient. She took thorough notes, took a photo of the image of what I wanted and explained the different cake options. When the day before the party I decided I wanted to change the color scheme, I called up the bakery and told the manager Rebecca who was also super helpful. I came to pick up my cake and it was ready and exactly the time I was told and better than I could have even imagined!! All my guests couldn't get over the fact that it was a supermarket cake (as per Eve's advice we used betterwhip instead of the typically heavy buttercream. The cake was fresh, moist and delicious!! And the matching "smash" cupcake was absolutely stunning!! I highly recommend!! read more

Just a few blocks away from where Live and it's super convenient for the Teaneck folks. Large, well stocked, well lit and a well maintained store. Love their own products. Bought a lot of their stuff instead of the regular brands. The snack packs were my favorite. This is my new go-to place for meats. It's fresh, weighed and ready to pick up. They also have halal and kosher aisles. It's never too crowded. I love shopping here. I find it really peaceful. read more

This is a nice big, clean, and well-lit supermarket. When you come in, the colourful produce is candy to the eyes. I do like that in the seafood area, you don't need to wait for someone to assist you as it's already portioned out and available to pick up like the meat (which is fine to me). Aisles can be a little small is the one downfall. Also, yes, it's mostly self check-out, which I don't like and rarely use. The staff at the check out are super friendly and I always go straight to them. I shop here mostly on weekdays and it's never crazy in here, which I appreciate. read more

Took it back the store the next day and "customer service" told they won't take it back without a receipt. Such crap. Who the hell keeps their grocery store receipts?? This supermarket has got to be at the top of the list for awful shopping experience. While I like the size of the market & the focused food selections, there is never a time when you can just run in, pick something up and leave quickly. It has been like this for over ten years and has not changed. There are now way too many self-serve cash registers and NEVER enough cashiers. The fact that I have to go to Shop Rite in Maywood to do weekly shopping is ridiculous. Shame on the management team at this location. read more

I go to this store every week as I live in town and its very convenient. My major complaint is regarding the amount of time it takes things to get fixed or upgraded. I love the self check out as it saves tons of time and my groceries arent just thrown in the bags at check out. I have control over that. The self check out system has to be the original system. More times than not the guns are very slow in scanning items and on a recent occasion, I had to replace it three times and on another re-scan my entire order with a new gun. Many guns aren't working. There has been a broken produce scale for at least a few months. It took forever for the deli kiosk to be replaced. A terrific upgrade is the one at the entrance. The produce scales are not effectively distributed throughout the department. There aren't any toward the onion/potatoes. I'm not sure if this is a poor preforming store and S&S just doesnt want to invest or management doesnt want to complain. I hope someone takes notice, a walk through the store is a great start. read more

I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday and had a VERY long and detailed conversation on the phone discussing which cake I wanted and etc... meanwhile, when i came to pick it up, it was not ready and it was NOT ONE BIT the design we ordered. I'm not saying it wasn't somewhat pretty, but it was nothing like what we discussed... it merely had a plastic toy on top which i could have bought 10 of and put on a costco cake for 1/2 the price and it would have been 20x more satisfying... when i called to complain, i was told it was my fault for ordering over the phone and that was that. i have never posted a review online until today, but 2 places disappointed me, so, i guess i am now 'that girl.' read more

Love this supermarket! It's very clean and well stocked. I look at the weekly circular and love their sale prices. They are not much higher priced than Shop Rite. It's not crowded. I'd rather pay a bit more for fresher items and less of a wait. read more

I've never seen that in a supermarket before. The large fruit and vegetable sections are nicely stocked whenever I go. They also have several self-checkout machines, which is definitely convenient. First the good- big, clean, bright, nice organic aisle, friendly efficient checkers. I take my mom on Sunday mornings, and it's not crowded- lines are short. Now, the bad: Prices are high, there is no fresh fish department, and there is an ongoing issue with outdated products on the shelves in both the produce and dairy aisles. I have seen things that are outdated by a week or more, and produce that is wilted and moldy. In addition, I have bought milk and cheese which seem to have not been properly stored. Milk soured too soon, and the packaged cheese slices had melted together and had mold around the edges. If you shop here, check dates. read more

Store manager just berated me -- even calling the police -- for trimming some tree branches that were blocking the sidewalk entrance and making it impossible for customers -- including 2 blind people, my friends who who live a block away -- to walk safely to the store. The experience left a bitter taste in my mouth, very similar to that of their lousy produce. read more

Not too overcrowded. plenty of parking and I started using the scanners more in this place than any other Stop and Shop because its convenient and the self checkout to me is fast and it doesn't seem that many people use it here so its a plus for me. Here we have a grocery store with the necessary victuals and components needed to manage yourself through the week. Seriously disappointed, on many levels, in my first experience at this Super Stop & Shop. The store environment is below that of its competitors -- the store and aisles are cramped, poor lighting, and the pushiest in Bergen County, which is truly saying something!! Why did all customers insist on rushing through the store, never slowing down their cart as they barreled down the aisles and around corners? No acknowledgment of their inconsiderate behavior, and in fact, a couple customers gave me a look as to ask, 'what are you doing here?'. While the customers were some of the most unpleasant people I have encountered in Bergen County, the staff was actually incredibly pleasant and nice. I did not find the selection of goods to be that great. I would recommend one to shop at Hmart for better and cheaper produce and fresh fish. For other standard food shopping, I would recommend one shop at Acme, which just has a much better selection of goods --- the meat sections section easily beats this Super Stop & Shop. In the past, I have been a big fan of my experiences at Super Stop & Shops in Northern Virginia and Massachusetts, but this store is not at all in the same class as those. Management needs to focus some attention and money on improving this location, lest it tarnish the company's reputation. read more

I think this store needs to get the front end of the store under control. I was in there about 2 weeks ago and had to wait for a key and the person who had the key was nowhere to be found. It turns out she was upstairs or something. Nice way to run a front end. I made a complaint about it on the website and got an "apology" email from a manager. So I wrote him another email to let him know what was going on and I received no response. I guess Stop and Shop does not care if they just lost a long time customer. read more
