My family has been visiting Elkhart Lake for over 30 years. There is no place more nostalgic for me than the Stop-Inn Tavern at Siebkens Resort. Maybe I am biased, but everything about it is perfect--decades-old wooden saloon doors, racing stickers covering every inch of the wall, dim lighting and old creaky floors, live music on some nights. Trinkets littered all over the bar. It is perfectly Wisconsin, and is exactly the same as I remember it as a child. Nowadays, it definitely feels like an ode to the resort, pre-renovation days. This is a really cool place to get a beer in Elkhart Lake. It's only open seasonally (during the spring and summer), but if you happen to be in the area when it's open, you need to stop in for a drink and/or a bite to eat. The Stop-Inn Tavern is a historic joint, and it's a great place to take in some of the area's racing history. In fact, some Indy Car drivers and other racers have been known to visit this restaurant. The food is amazing!! By far our favorite bar food restaurant. The Siebkens sandwich is iconic. If you are gluten free there are many options you would not normally have. They make a gluten free batter, so you can indulge in fried cheese curds, onion rings, fried chicken etc. The Tavern gets busy during race weekends, but the staff is friendly and work hard to accommodate. During the day/early evening the Tavern is family friendly with plenty of seating. At night, the Tavern is lively, good draft beer options and the bartenders make great cocktails. read more

A quick walk or drive from the Osthoff, we stopped in for lunch. This place definitely has a dive bar type of atmosphere. Seat yourself, order at the bar. The menu is somewhat limited, but there is a mix of sandwiches and a few salad options for lunch. Despite the bar climate, they also offer a kids menu. Prices are about $15 per person. Kids options ranged from $8 for buttered noodles to upwards of $14, which seems a bit pricey. I had the grilled bacon and cheese. The bacon was more like ham, but cooked well. Overall, the sandwich was good. My three year old liked the grilled chicken. Despite good food, the atmosphere detracts from the experience. It was freezing inside, with screen doors open despite the 40 degree weather. The worn bar look is also not really our style. If you are good with dive-bar places, stop in- just dress warmly! If bars aren't your thing, head back across the street to the Osthoff. read more

I'll attempt objectivity and give 4 stars because they're short staffed, and the place needs a coat of paint. That being said, this is the best food I've had all week with the best service. They may be short, but the people that work here are striving to make it a quality experience. The fish fry I had was the best I've had in recent memory. The prime rib sandwich was surprisingly delicious. The side salad, normally a throw away consideration, was top quality. We happened in on a random Wednesday, where they had live music that sounded great. I hope this review raises their average rating and floods them with new business, so they can afford more staff to open their other restaurant. read more

I only visited the Stop Inn Tavern. Would have given it 5 stars but the ordering system is ridiculous. You go to a counter, stand in line to order food, then go stand in another line for drinks. If I want to stand in line, I'll go to the license branch! Then they give you a number card so a server can wander around the place in search of your number so they can deliver your food. Crazy! Sides include choice of Cole Slaw, Potato Salad or Chips. They were out of Cole Slaw because their cabbage "didn't show up on time!!) They were also out of Chili, Beer Cheddar Cheese Soup. They had Chicken Broccoli Soup and that was it. 4 people sitting at the bar drinking at 1:30 on Thursday afternoon on Race Weekend. Won't be heading back there again!!! read more

"When in Rome . . . .do as the Romans do". Well, the locals suggested this place to me during a recent stay in Elkhart Lake and I have to admit, I was addicted after my first visit. Dubbed as the "best bar on the racing circuit" - a connection to the Elkhart Lake Race Track located a mile or so away- this local, seasonal tavern pays homage to track racing with tons of memorabilia covering most of the walls. The locals are happy to talk about their racing history- in fact- one guy had the bartender pull down his racing trophy just so that I could get a closer look- and half of the fun of this place are the people that frequent it. They pour a great drink and have nightly drink specials. They also serve food- although I did not sample any of the food during my visits. Everyone knows each other in this place as it appears to be the local hangout for those who work in the industry around the town. There are live bands on Wednesday nights but don't worry if you come on another night. The juke box is loaded with every genre of music and the bartender will happily crank up your favorite song. Feeling in the mood to dance? No problem- just shove a couple of the tables over and there is an instant dance floor! There are several distinct rooms and porches to enjoy your libations in. If I was to describe it simply- it'd be like having a beer in your favorite uncle's cottage! Stop by and have a cold one for me. But do it quickly as the summer season is drawing to an end! read more

Usually this is not my type of restaurant. But boy did they make it my type! Such an interesting restaurant from a visual POV in a good way! There is no waiters. Basically you pick your own table and then go to the bar for drinks when you want one. You pay for everything as you order it instead of a bill at the end of your meal. You order at a table instead of telling a waiter your order. The lady/gentleman will take your order and give you a number. The food comes out fairly quick. I got a fish fry which was so delicious! And also some of the best fries ever! My family and I also went on a night with live music and it was the best! If you are wondering, yes this place is kid friendly. I was there recently with friends and we all ordered the Seibkens famous sandwiches. I was looking at the menu and saw these sandwiches were $13 and I commented to my friends that for this price this sandwich should be good. Wrong! Two of us asked if we could get roast beef and turkey and was charged $17 for supposedly double the meat but compared the amount of meat to the others in the group we didn't see a noticeable difference. I believe they just removed a slice of turkey and replaced with a slice of roast beef. The famous rye bread was tough and chewy as if it was few days old. Seriously these so called famous sandwiches taste and look no different than a Kwik Trip or any other convenience store deli sandwich. The homemade potato chips were extremely greasy and on the stale side. I have never spent $17 on a gas station deli sandwich. I truly don't understand how this is a local favorite and known for famous sandwiches. I will say Jersey Mike's, Cousins and JJ has a superior sandwich for less and you get more sandwich even Subway has this place bested. This place is absolutely highway robbery and truly baffled how they get away serving these sandwiches and charging these premium prices . Do yourself a favor and go to any other sandwich franchise for a superior sandwich or just buy some rye bread , deli meat, sliced cheese, tomatoes and onions with some Dijon and for $17 make multiple sandwiches and get the same taste experience and don't forget a bag of cape cod chips for superior quality. read more

Always great food. The new owners are doing an amazing job carrying on the Siebkens legacy, but also updating and making improvements. There's also plenty of outdoor dining. The new menu items are all delicious, but you can still get a classic Siebkens sandwich. Their fries are unique and delicious. The curry, grilled chicken sandwich, chicken tenders, and tavern salad are some of my favorites, but the cheese curds are a Wisconsin staple that you should try if you haven't had them before or are visiting from another state. Beverages are always delicious, too. New tap beer and lots of cocktail options. You can also get gelato at their Sissy's Gelato stand right next door. Sure the kitchen gets busy and things may take a bit (they handle the dining room and the tavern in one kitchen I believe), but I've never had a bad (or even just okay) meal here... it's always delicious. read more

I could spend hours just staring at the walls and going "this sticker is awesome!" / "haha, I know those dudes" / "sigh, those guys put stickers everywhere; NOT SURPRISED" / "ZOMG TAKE PICS OF ALL THE PORSCHE TEAMS!" This is Road America's version of Watkins Glen's Seneca Lodge Bar. The friendly owners who encourage visiting racers to sticker up the walls are often right there, in the bar. (Ask before you sticker, though: furniture, windows and mirrors are usually off limits, and they take errant stickers off on a regular basis.) Best of all, it's not just a tourist trap for motorsport geeks. The food is really, really good. The beer list has plenty of local brews besides the overrated Spotted Cow to satisfy the most beer-ADD'd of travelers. Of course, you can get a basket of delicious fried cheese curds, too. It's not a trip to Wisconsin unless you order cheese curds with everything. This fantastic tavern is one of many, many reasons why a Road America weekend will eeeeeeasily make you gain ten pounds. The food at the track is amazeballs. The food cooked by other racers is wonderful. The food at the places like this that cater to visitors to the track is also fantastic. You will get fat, and like it. My only regret is that I didn't bring a Puffalump bunny from Der Porschelump. I brought our race team mascot in all her lilac glory and took pictures of her next to all the Porsche teams I recognized, but forgot to bring an extra outline for the wall itself. Our room was HORRIBLE. If your expectations are to have a pleasant night sleep in a clean room then do not stay here. $125 a night for a stinky and MOLDY bathroom, no thermostat in the bedroom (it was 48 degrees at night when I stayed there), no shampoo, a 13 inch tube tv, bricks placed under the bed so it was only slightly slanted toward the wall, loud pounding music until 12:30am from the wedding next door, absolutely no security - whatsoever, no answer from the front desk when calling, and an attitude that is summed up by saying "we don't care". Our only window was an old rotten door that faced the hotel kitchen break area next door where the staff would smoke cigarettes and talk until their shift was over. The floodlights were a nice added bonus keeping your room lit until the wee hours of the morning. But that's OK because there were enough cracks in the plaster walls you could get some outside air that way. My wife complained that the room was terrible, and the front desk girl said "we tell you over the phone this is our oldest building". They did no such thing, and no warning over the phone would have been sufficient for how bad this room was. We had no clue what we were getting into at this hotel, and how bad our stay would be. At no point were we told that we would be staying in "the cottage", and had no idea that we shouldn't expect a good nights sleep for several reasons. Nothing like waking up in the morning with your sinuses stopped up because your bathroom has black mold in it. Siebkens will never see our business again. Do yourself a favor and stay at another Elkhart Lake hotel so that you can enjoy your stay in this quaint WI town. We would have been better off in a tent. read more

Nice relaxing old school wisconsin supper club. The atmosphere and friendly staff make for a great evening. Highly recommend taking the time for a nice dinner. Food was served quick and a nice mixture of choices. As with all supper clubs a must have is a old fashion. read more

Surprisingly NOT tourist friendly. We found everything in Elkhart Lake to be fun and friendly, except this place... steer clear of it and go almost anywhere else for a good time. We walked in and took a seat in the cool screened-in patio... waitress was chatting with 2 guys about how spoiled children are these days, looked at us, and then kept talking... on and on and on. We finally gave up and walked back into the main room, and asked the bartender if we were supposed to order at the bar... "No, just pick a seat and we'll come find you." We asked if we could order with her, and she took our order. About 10 mins. later, the real waitress stops by to see if we need menus. Food was OK; but you'll get much better/fresher pub fare at the Osthoff Beach Concession Stand, which was awesome. When we were done eating, the bartender said, "Here's your check, so you can be on your way." Ha! By this time, bar was lined with locals who you could tell have been drinking buddies for years... not in a good way. There was a blond gal with tall, poofy 80s hair that made me smile. Just a tavern. Comfy and casual, ate the SIebkens Sandwich and it was simply delicious. The thin sliced rye bread was very good, not what I expected, but was tastfully suprized. And the best part is, it didn't cost much! read more
