I've been doing business with Storage Valet for almost six years. I first contacted Alex as the result of an internet search to find an affordable company to move my belongings from Washington State to Southern California. Alex let me know that Storage Valet does not provide long distance moving services. He then proceeded to arrange the entire thing, from finding a local (WA) pod company to deliver pods to me, to setting up the moving company to pick up the filled pods and deliver them to my new home in OC, to picking up the empty pods and storing a couple still-full ones in his facility. The entire process happened exactly as he said it would, for exactly the price he quoted (which was less expensive than any other option I could find). Over the past six years Alex has arranged for his drivers to deliver and pick up pods on a number of occasions so I could add to or retrieve items from storage. His drivers (Tom and others) are always courteous, professional and prompt. Alex has also provided quality referrals for people to come and do the heavy lifting (well, all the lifting) on these occasions. I had a storage unit reserved with another company but they bait and switched me at the last minute trying to get me to pay triple price for the storage container. Luckily, Storage Valet was able to help get me a last-minute storage container. The timing was important because we were starting a construction project. When the storage container arrived it looked immaculate. Some of the storage containers I see, look old and filthy. I was happy to get a clean container with a nice looking outside. Even my neighbor's were commenting on how nice the storage container looked. I gotta keep my neighbor's happy because we are leaving the storage unit on the driveway for 1 to 2 months. I'm really impressed by how clean it looks. Also, customer service was great. Katie does a good job communicating with phone/text/email. I can be hard to get a hold of, but the communication was great. Storage Valet were simply outstanding. I researched various companies including the more national/well-known companies but the reviews simply didn't compare. I was not disappointed. The company has smaller and thus cheaper pods to offer greater flexibility for customers. The drop off and pick up fees are the same regardless of the number of pods you choose, and the overall prices are very competitive. Customer service was excellent - calls answered immediately every time and there was no problem in me shifting our arrangements during the service. Our new home, where we wanted the pods dropped off, was out of their service area but they were able to extend a 'live unload' drop off service for us. The movers that we had hired to help unpack were a number of hours late and the Storage Valet associate patiently waited and was very courteous and kind. read more

Worst experience ever. The truck containing the pod broke down, so they sent a regular moving truck and was going to transfer my stuff for me into pods. In doing so, they ruptured my brand new dingy and broke my bike. The movers they contract out to were terrible too. Scratched my walls and broke a box full of Christmas ornaments. Would not recommend. And the guy that answers the phone is a grump. read more

At one point, before it was to be delivered I realized I needed vacation items that were packed in it. Unfortunately, their new truck hadn't been delivered so Alex took pictures of the contents to see what I needed and personally delivered them to our home before our trip. That's great service! "Yeah, Yep, yeah-huh" seemed bothered about my questions. Then wanted to argue with me about traffic and that they didn't want to drive to the High Desert to drop off a pod. We almost selected another storage container company but we decided to do a little more research as we had concerns about the lack luster service we got from one of the big names. Glad that we did as we got better service and much better pricing. All pricing and options are crystal clear and no additional costs were imposed upon us. The containers were delivered in Lakewood on time by very professional gentlemen. The containers were clean and in good condition. Every step of the way we received proactive communications from Storage Valet. EVERY email was responded to very quickly and by a caring person. Storage Valet is as good as it gets. I just completed a nightmare move and Alex was helpful at every step of the ordeal, lightening my load in every way he could. He ALWAYS answered the phone even into the evening when most people are no longer available. His answer was always 'no problem, we'll take care of it.' I rented 5 pods to fill at my leisure and then had them delivered to my new home. The pods are big and clean with a nice fresh wood smell, and they work well (doors/locking mechanism work great, they are weather-tight). Bring your own locks. Tom, who delivered, re-delivered, then retrieved the pods is an artist with his forklift and won't jostle and bounce your stuff around unnecessarily, even going over curbs. He's slick, a pleasure to watch. He's also friendly and smart and knows where to put things to make it easier on you both for loading and unloading. This 'pod' idea is a great way to move - it gives you extra space as you pack. Instead of living in a home full of boxes while packing (no place to move or turn around), as you pack it all goes into the pod, and boy can you stuff those pods (1 ton limit per pod). At the other end, your movers can empty a pod very quickly - moving day goes fast, especially if you've labeled your boxes well! The rates are a crazy bargain for the convenience you get and the best part is the service. Stuff will come up, it always does, and when that happens Alex is there at the other end of the line with his 'no problem' attitude. He's there to help and he makes it clear that he wants you to be a satisfied customer. He and Tom were flexible with my short-notice demands, they were timely and on-time, they adapted to my unique needs at every step. I can't believe how easy this was! Storage Valet's driver arrived 20 minutes early (no waiting around wondering when they'd get there), and even helped us figure out the best way to load up our stuff. We couldn't believe how much fit into that one storage unit. We put in a queen-size bed, a huge dresser (it's both long and tall), a kitchen table with 4 chairs, a bunch of boxes, 5 or 6 lamps, a vacuum cleaner, and a pile of other miscellaneous stuff. And there was still plenty of room to spare! In 30 minutes we were done. If you want to put stuff in storage, this is really the way to go. read more

My experience with Storage Valet started out great until it came to pick up the empty units. They were very nice, and seemed affordable so I decided to book them over other companies. When I had the units delivered I had them emptied in a day. We called them to have them picked up and they told me they were super busy and wouldn't be able to pick them up for a couple days. I didn't think much of it until I received additional credit card charges for the days they couldn't pick them up. I have called them several times to figure out these charges and they denied that the extra days was because of their delays. I asked for an invoice and was promised a call back. 3 weeks went by with no call back. I called again and was told again that the owner would call me back this time... still waiting. I finally had to go to the hassle of disputing it with my credit card company. Bottom line is they may seem nice up front but they will screw you on the back end. read more

Alex and his team are AWESOME! During my move, I used 15 Pods and they were very flexible in working within my schedule, going the extra mile, even on weekends, to accommodate my every need. He even provided moving blankets and extra packaging tape when I was in a pinch. I couldn't just rent a U-Haul truck, because I wasn't moving from one place to another over a weekend; I had about a month between moving out of my old house and into my new one, so short term storage was a concern for me. I had some extra furniture that would not fit in the pods and he let me store it in his warehouse for free! Their pricing is very reasonable and they even prorated the few extra days I rolled over into a new month, saving me hundreds of dollars. All tolled, my total cost to move was thousands less than using a traditional mover and everything went as smooth as silk. Granted, you work a little harder doing it yourself, but considering the savings, it was well worth the extra effort. I also like the online contract and easy billing process.
