We had a very pleasant experience with the more modern, fancy storage folks next door, but they were so pricey for the only 15'x15' units they had at the time......... we decided to try Cube Smart, they were more than half the price for an outdoor non-air conditioned unit for the first month. We figured it would be short termed so we didn't sweat it, no pun intended. 5 stars for customer service, Frank: I always barrage folks with questions, sometimes they crack, not Frank. He even made me laugh, he was so pleasant. We once had issue with the door being stuck and he didn't stop until he fixed it and our stuff was secure. At the end he swept our unit for us when we moved out, I even went back and checked to make sure; the contract terms were satisfied and I wasn't charged anything extra. 4 stars for the space......it was out doors, it was very clean, we experienced no bugs or critters, but the price doubled after the first month. Frank did explain almost all storage places have crazy after-introductory-first-month jacked up pricing because it depends on supply and demand for particular spaces, sizes and location of the space on the property. Capitalism. 3 stars for the property layout.....less than ideal and tight narrow thru ways where people have parked boats and random delivery trucks here and there. Depending on where you are on the property, there may be no easy way out. It also looks like some residents conduct business out of their units, so of course they are all in the way. For the price, you are definitely not getting state of the art or high tech or anything but for the convenience to highways 595/95/turnpike, the general cleanliness and the customer service I give it 4.5 stars. When we removed our belongings, we discovered a significant flying-insect infestation that was far more extensive than initially visible when we initially uncovered the problem. We could clearly see substantial deterioration, an opening, and apparent moisture/decay/mold in the ceiling area above the unit. When we first identified the issue, CubeSmart directed us to file a claim under the protection plan we had been paying for. The claim was denied because insect damage is excluded, despite our concern that the infestation was associated with the deteriorated and apparent moisture that was due to the condition of the building. I continued trying to resolve the matter. We were offered to move our belongings into another unit and was given 24 hours to decide. It wasn't practical, as we are not local to the storage, not to mention, we had with no time to thoroughly inspect the damage. After asking for our concern to be escalated, the local facility provided contact information for a District Manager. When I called him, I reached a generic voicemail system that did not provide the impression that I would receive a call back. I did not, after two follow-up calls. The local employees were courteous and sympathetic, and I want to be fair about that. However, the solutions offered were not reasonable; we had to hire someone to move, clean our property and dispose of affected items. We felt we had no choice but to take matters into our own hands and properly assess the damage and relocate our belongings. On the day we closed our account, we explained our situation again with local representives, who visibly saw and recognized the concern, and were offered a one-month storage credit, which came nowhere close to our expenses. We were told that the matter had been reviewed with the district and nothing further could be done. The most disappointing part is how CubeSmart took accountability for "their" own issue. We made repeated attempts, over 6+ weeks, to give the company an opportunity to address the situation properly. Take a look at the picture - judge for yourself.

In just over a year, Public Storage has shown their true corporate greed. They lure you in with a competitive "web rate," wait until your items are packed inside and you are trapped, and then aggressively jack up the price because they know moving physical furniture is a massive hassle. I just received notice that they are spiking my rent to a staggering $239 a month starting September 1st! This is nearly triple the standard market average for a 5x10 space in Plantation. You can look at their own website right now and see they rent the exact same size units to new customers for a fraction of that price. To raise a loyal, on-time paying tenant's rate this drastically in just over a year is predatory and deceptive. They are gambling that I will just pay the inflated price instead of hiring movers again. They are wrong. I am vacating my unit and filing formal complaints with the Florida Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division and the BBB for deceptive pricing practices. They did not leave their storage facility until July 14, 2026. I was told that, at most, the delivery should only take two to three weeks from the day it was picked up, which was a blatant lie. I received an email that day that because my furniture was finally shipped, it should only take 1-10 days to get to me. I finally received my furniture and boxes (which were all completely wrecked) on July 30th, 2026, nearly one month after it was picked up, and two weeks after I received an email saying it would take 1-10 days. Each time I called, I would hear something along the lines of "it should be soon", but it was never soon. My furniture shipped out from the facility on Ju I live on the biggest street in my city, and somehow they still were unable to drive their truck on the street, so I was forced to pay for them to rent a Uhaul to complete the delivery. Also, they charge you if they have to walk more than 75ft from the truck to your apartment. They even charge you to use the elevator. It is an absolute shame they feel they can treat customers this way, but such is the way of the world. Would avoid at all costs and choose a more reputable company.
