The security was decent, there was plenty of space, and the temperature was controlled to a comfortable level. It was worth the slight premium. It was a bit annoying that access wasn't 24/7 considering how much we paid, but I could overlook that. Then, prices started increasing every few months. I understand that the entire industry does this, but it seemed excessive. Then, they began construction on the second floor. The noise, dust, and inconvenience were bothersome, and there was no compensation. Thankfully, I wasn't forced to move on my own dime like others. One day, I came to start unpacking and noticed a section of our belongings that had water damage. Initially, I thought it was caused by a leaking pipe, but upon closer inspection, water was flowing down from the second floor, rolling along the I beams and dripping onto our stuff for who knows how long and how much. All attempts to resolve the issue ended with the company stating that since I didn't use their insurance, they couldn't offer any compensation, replacement, or rental refund. This seems unreasonable and goes beyond the terms of the contract that absolves them from liability. Either the roof, second floor, or both were not properly constructed, allowing water to flow along the I beams. You can see rusted water drop marks on multiple I beams. These beams are completely exposed and there's nothing installed to protect the storage units from water or debris from the second floor. Since they were aware of the issue from the review I mentioned earlier and didn't take any action, it appears to be gross negligence. I also highly doubt that they would even consider addressing the real issue and refunding partial rent if we had their insurance. Regardless of whether we have insurance or not, the website guaranteed dryness and a storage satisfaction guarantee. If you decide to stay here, make it a short stay, cover your belongings completely, and request a different unit if you have any beams or pipes above your unit. And pray that nothing else goes wrong.

I had belongings in this storage for approximately 6 months - an inside ground level unit. When we…read moremoved out through april/may we noticed there was mold on several of our boxes and belongings. I called the office and they said there is nothing they could do. They said it appeared there was Efflorescence occurring in the unit. (This happens when groundwater seeps through porous concrete and evaporates, leaving behind salts. This evaporation spikes the humidity in your unit, creating the perfect damp, stagnant conditions for mold to feed on your belongings.) I asked if they could reimburse anything off my last months rent because I moved out early. They would not. And they do not insure their units so I can't make a claim. Leaving this review because they need to be honest with their tenants. Had we known about the issue we would have stored our belongings accordingly and off the floors so they didnt get ruined!

In any event, my experience here has been excellent. If one needs a packing/shipment box, like I did today, one can likely zip in and out plus the cost for boxes is competitive with box stores and Home Depot. I received excellent customer service this morning (from the fellow with the green painted fingernails-not judging). I rented a storage unit from HSCTO last year for 6 months. It was a truly seamless experience for me. My unit was clean unit, no one messed with my belongings and this place has easy access. Most importantly, I have received great customer service every time. All that I can say is that I believe that HSCTO is an excellent storage facility and would not hesitate to use it again.

I have an actual recording of her raising her voice and yelling at me for simply asking a question -- not arguing, not complaining, just asking a question. And it didn't stop there. My husband called the facility separately with a simple question of his own, and she yelled at him too. A customer calling to ask a question should never be met with that kind of response -- ever. This is not someone who should be managing a facility or interacting with customers. Her behavior is hostile, inappropriate, and frankly unacceptable. So I did what any reasonable person would do -- I contacted corporate and asked to speak with the district manager. I started calling in early December, once or twice a week, sometimes more. Customer service told me the district manager would return my call within 48 hours. It took him nearly three months. Eric finally called me back at the end of February, and after all that waiting, I was met with nothing but attitude and dismissiveness. Rather than listening or showing any empathy, he essentially told me to find somewhere else to store my belongings because of some late payments. What Eric apparently didn't stop to consider is that I have been dealing with serious health issues and have been in and out of the hospital -- not that a paying customer should ever have to justify that to be treated with basic respect. The lack of professionalism and compassion from someone in a district manager position was truly shocking.
