One of my new favorite pasta restaurants. There is something special about pasta dishes that know when to keep things simple. The Cacio e Pepe and Gamberi e Prosciutto were both beautifully balanced and a strong example of how important restraint is when it comes to saucing pasta. In both cases, the pasta itself was the highlight and was cooked exactly as it should be. Paired with high-quality ingredients imported from Italy, the result is a combination that produces truly memorable dishes. The sauces complemented the pasta rather than overwhelming it, making both plates especially well executed. I also had the Chopped Salad for a lighter option. It was fresh and well-prepared, though fairly straightforward in nature. The Hugo Cocktail was an excellent choice for a warm day--light, refreshing, and not overly sweet, which made it particularly enjoyable. Service throughout the meal was excellent: attentive, professional, and welcoming. With pasta of this quality, this restaurant is well on its way to becoming a regular destination. I absolutely love this place! Although I wish you could order both the pasta from here and pizza from Centro next door, I always have to come here when I'm craving pasta. The Salsiccia Rigatoni is one of my favorite dishes, but everything I've tried has been delicious and the pasta is always cooked perfectly! This place can get packed so make sure to plan in advance. Our waiter was very friendly, and all the pasta is supposedly made fresh in house daily. We got the bruschetta as an appetizer and each got our own pastas. Def do not get the half size, just get the full! Some pastas come with protein but mine didnt so i added chicken for $9!!! My pesto pasta was $22 for the full size so its very pricey, especially for not including any protein. The bruschetta was very good, and I dont even like tomatoes usually! I liked it a lot though! The pastas were a miss though imo. I liked the texture of my pasta noodles but the flavor was meh. I thought it was underseasoned. Not sure why it took me so long to try this cute restaurant in Old Town Tustin when I live just minutes away! We started with Prosecco served in chilled glasses (such a nice touch ), then shared the calamari, burrata salad, and Gamberi e Prosciutto pasta before finishing with gelato. I ordered a full bowl of the Salsiccia pasta. Plenty of free parking behind l. The pasta was really well done. Perfectly cooked and coated in a rich, flavorful sauce with the sausage bringing a nice savory depth to the whole dish. It felt hearty without being too heavy, and every bite was consistent. I came to Storico for an early Mother's day lunch. It was around 12:30 on Saturday. I called the day before to ask if I could get a reservation but the nice gentleman on the phone said they don't do reservations for that time but I should be good to get seated right away with 7 people. He assured me I shouldn't have any issues. I will assume he forgot it was Mother's day weekend lol. When we arrived the hostess told us all of the big tables were full and it would be a 30 minute wait. She also said the kitchen closes down at 1:45 so.... In other words my chances of dining in were slim to none? Or we would not be able to order any food once we are seated?? I really am not sure where she was going with that. My daughter stepped in and asked if there were tables available outside. She said there was but it was probably too small for us, we asked to go see and thought the table was actually perfect for us. So we asked to be seated there. We had plenty of elbow room and the table fit our food perfectly so I am not sure why she thought it was too small. Overall we did not feel like she was taking much initiative to be accomadating on a holiday weekend. The food was so authentic and amazing that I didn't even care. My pesto was so fresh and flavorful, the pasta was cooked perfectly. Everyone in my family ordered something different and everyone loved their dish! Service was friendly but not very attentive. They add a 20% gratuity for parties 6 and up. The restaurant inside and outside is super duper cute and charming. The pane della casa ( homemade focaccia with olive oil & balsamic vinegar ) was extremely delicious, perfectly salted, and the olive oil with balsamic vinegar tasted outstanding. There were four pieces of focaccia that came for just $3 and I had to take a piece home because it was a lot! The pesto pasta in the half size was $17, and even this was so much that I had to take some home. However, the quality of the pesto and the fusilli pasta noodles were second to none here in OC, and I am now so happy to have found a real Italian restaurant that serves real Italian food for reasonable prices - I worried about having to choose between unhealthy Alfredo and cheese wheel cheaper pastas versus expensive full-scale dining experiences, neither which made sense to me, until I found Storico Spaghetteria, the answer to my Italian food needs. The staff at the Spaghetteria are super dedicated, professional, attentive, and courteous, and I love the kind of upscale yet friendly Old Town Tustin atmosphere here. First, I want to say that the service here is always wonderful. They really do hire some of the nicest people. The servers, hosts, and cafe workers were all incredibly kind, attentive, and helpful. Honestly, I could sit here for hours. As for the food, this was my second time trying Storico, and unfortunately, I had a similar experience to my first visit. The first time, I thought maybe I had just come on an off day because I had seen so many great reviews online. I was honestly surprised to have another disappointing experience. I'm not big on Yelp, but I felt the need to give recognition where it's deserved and let people know about my experience. The first time we came, we ordered some type of lemon spaghetti, and I found it extremely bland. It almost felt like the pasta had been placed in a room next to a lemon for five minutes rather than actually having much lemon flavor. Today, we ordered a caprese salad, cacio e pepe, and a pesto pasta. The caprese salad was easily the highlight, 10/10 and honestly the only thing I'd order again. It was delicious. Unfortunately, the cacio e pepe was incredibly flavorless. We ended up barely eating it because it was so bland. My friend felt similarly about the pesto pasta. I completely understand that traditional Italian food can be much more subtle than what I'm used to, so maybe this is simply a matter of personal taste, but I just didn't love it. The cafe was great, though, and our espresso was delicious. I really wish the food had been better because I genuinely wanted to love this place. I will say again that the staff absolutely rocks. If we'd had more time, I probably would have asked if something could be done about the flavor, but we had already waited about 45 minutes for our food and were running late to a show. There was some miscommunication, as I wasn't informed that changing the pasta would come with an extra charge, and I also wasn't told that the bread they offered would be an additional cost. The servers were present to clear plates and remove food, but there wasn't much check-in beyond that. I completely understand that working in the food industry can be overwhelming, but attentive service really makes a big difference in the overall experience. The restaurant itself is very nice inside, but if you're dining as a party of two and plan on ordering multiple dishes, I'd recommend asking for a booth or a larger table. While the staff did help clear plates between courses, it sometimes felt rushed almost like we needed to finish one dish quickly just to make room for the next. There is inside and outside seating. They have various selection of pasta, apps, drinks and mains. For apps we recommend the calamari! Very crispy and not overly greasy. For the pasta they do half portions which is good for me. My favorite is the gamberi proscuitto! The sauce is light, creamy, and wide ribbon pasta is bomb! I've tried the capperi e olive, great if you like olives. The cacio e Pepe is a little bit too creamy. My fiancés Ragu pasta was meaty and delicious. If you are going to get dessert definitely get the gelato, so creamy and refreshing, good portion as well. Been wanting to go here for a while, glad I finally went! Came here on a Sunday evening for a nice dinner. The weather was perfect so we decided to sit on the patio. We weren't starving so we started with the antipasto plate, basically a nice charcuterie board. It had pepperoni, salami, and prosciutto for the meats; brie, pepper jack, and a delicious soft crumbly cheese. The board also included olives, artichoke hearts, and perfectly toasted ciabatta bread. For our entree we split the grilled meats plate which was a perfect way to try all their specialty meats. It included 2 Italian sausages, 2 lamb chops, a filet mignon, and a flattened grilled chicken breast. It was all cooked perfectly and tasted great. No dipping sauces or anything to take away from the flavor of the meats. We enjoyed it very much. A bit of arugula and a lemon wedge on the side made a great pairing. We both got the wine sampler which comes with four 2oz pours of their choosing, usually 2 whites and 2 reds. All were very tasty and went perfectly with the meal. While looking for more unique eats in the area, this was recommended to us and we generally don't go out to eat Italian food that much and seeing that there's a good amount of pasta that sounds delicious and that we've never tried before, this was the play. It was also within walking distance from an event we were attending so everything worked out! Loved that there's some historical pieces outside and inside the restaurant too. The towing sign is with a historical vehicle and there's a tractor (?) inside and some farm vehicle outside too. The restaurant has table seating and bar seating, it's not super big, so there may be a wait depending on when you go and how big the parties are in front of you. We were lucky enough to wait long since our party was smaller. The restaurant is attached to their cafe as well. Non-alcoholic drinks and desserts that are available at the restaurant are also available at the cafe as well, so if you can't make up your mind during your dining session, you can just walk right next door and order there. They also have daily specials for entrees, appetizers, desserts, and spirits, just take a look at the chalkboard that they have up. Our group got the: 1) Peach Italian Soda: -Very bubbly and had a light peach taste. Not bad. -Wouldn't mind trying their other flavors. 2) Sweet cream Maple Nut Latte: -Strong coffee taste to it that ends with the sweet taste of maple nut. -It's a very "European" way of doing coffee if that makes sense. -You'll definitely stay up if you down the entire thing. 3) Mango Menta: This is a green tea with mango and mint. -Refreshing with real sprigs of mint in it. -The minty taste with the sweetness of mango went really well together. 4) Pane della Casa: -This is their house focaccia bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. -Really wish this was something offered on the house instead of for purchase but it was relatively cheap for $3. Not sure if it's supposed to be this way or because we went right at the end of the day. -I'd skip this. 5) Paccheri alla Panna: -This is paccheri pasta in a light cream sauce with peas, Italian cotto ham, onions, parmigianno, and mushrooms. -We opted to try more of the unique pastas that we don't usually see at other restaurants and this was one of our choices. -Nice chewy texture to the pasta and the little burst of flavor from the peas added to the yummy creaminess of the sauce. The ham also added a nice saltiness that brought everything beautifully together. 6) Sacchetti ai Funghi Porcini: -This is fresh pasta stuffed with porcini mushrooms, garlic, Swiss, and Fontina cheese. -Favorite of the night. Can never go wrong with a stuffed pasta. -Loved the seasoning and flavoring of the sauce and the texture of the mushroom filling. At first I was a bit wary of splitting 2 pasta dishes with 4 adults, but was convinced to order the full serving and I'm glad I did because the full serving is about half of what you'd normally see at an American restaurant (lol at my fat ass), so ordering half would have definitely left us hungry. For many years I had been going next door to Centro for the pizza and knew about this place ever since they opened it up i believe during covid as its owned by the same family. My wife and I always talked about coming here but for some reason but we always end up at Borolo when we start craving pasta. Finally after all these years, I finally had to chance to come in because as you can guess, i went to Centro but they were closed for lunch so it was the perfect excuse to finally try Storico. Lucky enough the folks i was meeting up with also had been here before so they were more than happy to pivot locations. I figured since i like the salsicca pizza so much that i would try the pasta version which sure enough was right on the money. Overall i thought it was a good place to go and a little more elevated than Roma and Borolo which have been a staple in Tustin for many years.
