My all time favorite restaurant :) make sure to order the lamb chops and grape leaves!

One word Wow! After growing up in Tustin for 18 years and now moving back I have no idea how I never dined here before. We went in for a simple take out meal and the service while we waited was incredible. The restaurant is cute. Now let's get to the food. I ordered a gyro plate and the other half ordered a gyro sandwich. Also ordered dolmanedas (stuffed grape leaves) haven't eaten those yet. The gyro plate comes with so much food. The green beans are delicious tons of gyro and the potato and the rice were incredible. I still have left overs definitely something you can split. The gyro sandwich and rice were snarffeled up and the comment was wow I haven't had something that tasted that good in years. Needless to say you guys found some new regulars! read more

This is a great little neighborhood restaurant. It's pretty popular and on nice days the outdoor dining area is always full. I had the chicken Athenian and it was pretty good. The flavors were very nice with a lot going on with the spinach stuffing and the mushroom cream sauce. It was very good. To be picky, I think the chicken just a tad overcooked and the dill was a little strong sometimes. But, overall, it was very good. My wife had the tilapia and it was very good. The fish was cooked very well and there was none of that aftertaste that tilapia sometimes has. Both dishes came with the same sides of the, string beans, and potato. It was all fine well with nice delicate flavors. The service was excellent and when we asked to take some of the leftovers the packed it all up very nicely for us It's almost like higher end dining in a more casual setting and moderate prices. Came here for the first time for a dear friends birthday. Its the couples go-to's as it's close to their house and Christakis did NOT disappoint. I LOVE greek food, so I had high hopes and well, hopes were very much so highed! Food was delicious for me personally, enjoyed trying their various appetizers and I enjoyed my Chicken Skordalia entree! I had gotten up towards the end of my meal to use the bathroom, I came back out and our table was cleared, saw a to-go box at my spot since I had a lot left on my plate. My heart broke when I got home (didn't bother opening it there, my fault!) when only my chicken was packaged, because I had left rice, green beans, and half of the delicious potato, so I wish everything was packaged (because I take EVERYTHING wherever I go and have leftovers lol!!!! And i was crazy excited to eat this meal again at home lol!) Other than that small heartbreak, everything was MARVELOUS!! The gentleman in the blue button-up was the most attentive, kind person I've ever seen at a restaurant, so thank you SO MUCH for such a great first experience for our big party (minus the birthday couple since they always come here). I wish there was a Christakis closer to me so I can enjoy it wayyyy more, but having it whenever I visit my dear is not an issue either!! Thank you Christakis!!!! Enjoyed some Greek grub at this local gem that I've been meaning to check out for some time. I tried their Paidakia; charbroiled lamb chops that were marinated in virgin olive oil and greek spices. We have lived in Orange for 3 years & Friday was our first time here. My wife is vegan and 37 weeks pregnant and after a doctor appointment she was seriously craving Greek food. We had been wanting to try this place for a while, so I called but got no answer and figured they might be closed. A few minutes later I got a text asking how they could help, which was already a great start. I told them we were hoping to make a reservation and they immediately took care of us. We ended up running late and were pushing into their afternoon shift change, but Mike the owner kept us updated by text the whole time and even kept the restaurant open for us. When we arrived, it honestly felt like the place was open just for us. That kind of service and hospitality is rare these days. Edson our server was incredible and even poured my wife's Diet Coke from a carafe like it was wine, which we loved. Price wise it felt fair. Definitely not fast food, but everything tasted fresh and clean with great flavors. Highly recommend and we will absolutely be back. I've been missing out by not trying this restaurant sooner! Such a great restaurant. This place was packed to the brim with a HUGE party yet we still received perfect service. Everything we ate was outstanding. Hummus appetizer, lamb souvlaki, and their baklava were delicious. My wife had the chicken souvlaki which she also loved. Paired it with a Greek red wine and we felt like we were on vacation. I can't wait to return and eat my way through the menu. The staff is friendly but service can be a bit slow even when restaurant is not fully packed. Got the saganaki pan-fried cheese and calamari for appetizer. We enjoyed both dishes. The lamb gyro sandwich was decent. The pork chop portion size is generous but a bit hard for kids to enjoy because of the thicker cut of meat and several areas of pure fat. Skip the Greek Coffee. Came here for the first time a few weeks ago because a co worker recommended it. We came on a weekday night and they were able to seat us right away without a reservation. We were a party of 6 and luckily got their last table. They were busy for a Thursday night! The service was super friendly and our server was so helpful in giving us recommendations since it was everyone's first time. I highly recommended getting their Keftedes meatballs for an appetizer! It's a happening place! We came to celebrate Father's Day here, and it was packed! So glad we made reservations. We were seated outdoors, and the vibes were great. Live music, lively yet chill atmosphere. Their rack of lamb was superb. As was their gyros. Definitely would recommend those two plates, and return just to eat again. However, my pork chop plate was very underwhelming. Overcooked and rough. I know pork chops might not be the best to order at a Greek restaurant, but it looked so good in pictures lol. Lesson learned. And one star docked for that. Other than that, I would definitely return and try their other dishes. I would also recommend to make reservations, as they were very busy that day. This place was super busy Saturday afternoon with the patio completely full. We were seated inside and service was quick and efficient. Hubby had the gyros pita and fries. The ambiance was beautiful and felt very authentic and the live music was definitely a plus however the food fell quite short I'm afraid. Our server was wonderful and we decided to try a bottle of authentic Greek red wine, which was fantastic! We started off with the feta cheese appetizer with olives, and it was OK; nothing to really write home about. But the entrée was a bit disappointing. We got the chicken souvlaki dish and I did swap out my green beans for grilled zucchini and that was good, but the chicken sadly fell short because it was super dry and the rice tasted bland. I was looking forward to trying this place due to the high reviews, but I'm not sure if they just had an off night with us, but unfortunately, it wasn't too satisfying. The best Greek food! The Trio Hummus, Gyro sandwich with rice pilaf is off the charts delicious! The service was so attentive and professional, and the restaurant is clean with a Greek theme in decor. Four of us went to Christakis' on Friday night after our friends suggested it. My wife and I were happy to go since we hadn't been there in a while. The restaurant was crowded and lively, but the service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, and our water glasses were kept full the whole time. The food was great, too. Two of us had the Chicken Souvlaki and finished every bite. One friend ordered the Christakis Combo, and when I saw him the next day, he was still raving about it. My wife had the Chicken Skordalia and said it was outstanding. She couldn't quite finish the chicken, so we split the leftover as part of another meal--and she was right, it tasted great. This place is SOOOO GOOD!!! Food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. My bf and I came here because it was one of the only restaurants open at 8pm on a Sunday. It was our first time trying it. We couldn't have asked for a better to end the night. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Patio seating was very relaxing. I'm someone who gets cold very easily, but the heated lamps on the patio were perfect. I felt warm and was even able to forget that the lamps were there. Food was excellent. We were debating between the saganaki and keftedes. We ultimately went with the keftedes, but our waiter was very generous and surprised us with the saganaki on the house. The saganaki makes for a really good show. The cheese itself is mild with freshly squeezed lemon juice. The keftedes were even better. They tasted lightly of dill and onions. We also got the Christakis combo. The lamb chops were soft and juicy and did not taste gamey at all. The dolmades, which consists of herbed sirloin and rice rolled in pickled grape leaves, was also so good. Even my bf, who usually doesn't like grape leaves, really enjoyed it. The only thing that my boyfriend and I thought was average was the pastitsio. It didn't really stand out flavor-wise, and the ground beef was dry. Service here was the cherry on top. Shoutout to our waiter, who was very friendly and attentive and made us feel so welcome. I wish we had caught his name. I am excited to come back here to try their other dishes! I've been to Christaki's a few times before, one for an anniversary, another when my nonós was in town. But yesterday's experience topped them all. It was Greek easter and also happened to be my mother's 70th birthday. When I called a few weeks prior to make the reservation, knowing it would be Greek Easter, I was worried we wouldn't be able to get a table or that we'd be discouraged from coming in that at day especially because we'd be a bit group and maybe take up a lot of space. Mike could not have been more gracious or accommodating. Early the day of, it started raining and before I could make a call about changing plans (we were set for the outside patio) Mike had already messaged me with THREE other sitting options. He was kind and courteous and had a plan for if it rained or if the rained stopped. He also made a birthday sign for my mom and used a special birthday plate written in greek. Lots of special touches. They even had the greek musician come and play next to my mom while we all sang happy birthday. The place was so beautiful for Easter too. There was sweet bread, red eggs and lamb entree options. The kids liked the greek music and danced after we ate cake (which they allowed us to bring in but if you go you HAVE to get the baklava!). The way Mike and Austin handled our table made us all feel so special. And I could tell by the way they were greeting and talking with guests how much they enjoyed their greek patrons. I also enjoyed just how friendly everyone was and knowing it was Easter there was a connection and family-feel when you were greeted by other guests with Christos Anesti. When we left my husband and I and the kids were already discussing when we'd want to go back because we just had the best time. I've been to Christakis many times before for nostalgic and grounding Greek experiences. Yet this was a disappointing visit. Was looking forward to observing Orthodox Easter in a Greek atmosphere. The experience was certainly less Orthodox (eg. No 'Chistos anesti') and lesser Greek vibe. Further, first we were rained on and moved inside. Then the inside was so noisy, two of us couldn't hear each other over a large party with shouting volume across tables. We escaped outside again hopefully for a quieter coffee and dessert. The coffee was luke warm. To be fair, the staff were kind, shuffling as best they could. However, the overall experience and food preparation added to a disappointing experience at an elevated price (the lamb special was dry with cold vegetable side; my dad ran two restaurants and I'm familiar with Greek cooking). Went to Greece last summer and was excited to find this place for some authentic Greek cuisine. Came to celebrate Valentine's Day so they did have a specific menu to choose from. We ordered 2 glasses of red wine, saganaki, and the Greek meatballs to start. For entrees, we ordered the Chicken Athenian and lamb chops. Also got baklava for dessert. Wine- 4/5, good! Saganaki- 3.5/5, good but wasn't super impressed Meatballs- 5/5, delicious! Chicken - 5/5, pleasantly surprised!! The green beans were divine Lamb chops- 6/5 can't recommend them this enough! Soooo flavorful Overall had such an amazing time and I was thoroughly impressed with the food. They have a corkage fee of $25 if you choose to bring your own wine as well! Patio was nicely decorated and they had a live guitarist performing to help with the ambiance. Service was fantastic, and they really make each guest feel important. This review is long overdue. Came here on a spontaneous date night late in the summer. I believe my partner was easily able to grab a reservation. We were immediately charmed by the live music playing in the patio and the decor indoors. My partner had the chance to travel to Greece last year and has been looking for a Greek restaurant to capture the flavors he had there, and according to him, Christakis was exactly it. The pastitsio was what he was seeking, and I really appreciated the meaty, herby flavors. The lamb chops were the most tender lamb chops I've ever had, and I thought it was a nice touch adding both our entrees on one plate to eat with all the sides to eat family style. I've tried recreating the potatoes since coming here but have to come back soon to have the real deal! I would recommend everything we ate. The trio of dips were delicious and the pita tasted fresh. The villager's salad was refreshing. If they have the tomato soup, it's a must try (spoke as a tomato soup lover!). The baklava was a delicious way to end our meal and was so sweetly given to us on the house since it was our first time there. Christakis is definitely on our date night rotation and on our list of restaurants to recommend to others. My family has been frequenting Christakis for many years and this review could be as relevant every time. This review is about last night. I had made a reservation via OpenTable and mentioned in the comment section that is was my son's 27th birthday. I received a text and asked if there were any additional instructions. Aside from the fact I didn't ask for this, I also received a picture where they had written a special message on the chalkboard with a comment to treat Nick as a VIP! Wow...how special?! Okay, the food and the atmosphere...check and check. Now what about the service you may be asking. We've NEVER, NEVER, EVER have had poor service. Several of the staff have waited on us and every one of them has personality plus! Seriously! Even when they have been busy, they explain the wait time, or if there has been an issue with something. I can't recall anything that could prevent me from writing this. BTW, I usually order the pastitsio which is deeeelish!!! Food was fantastic. There is a ton of parking in the back of the strip mall. Make sure to make a reservation, it can get really busy during the night. Theres some inside seating and a lot of outside seating. They have heaters and it is still warm to sit outside. Loved the saganaki, eat it while it is still warm! The arugula salad is fantastic.
