Needing a break from the beefapalooza weekend we were having, I dragged the 3 men in my life to Storiebook Cafe for lunch last Saturday. The inside is very cute and eclectic, with books everywhere. The menu is somewhat small, but fresh and inviting. I decided on the turkey & avocado wrap on a spinach tortilla-it was fresh, tasty and just what I wanted. Even my boys had to concede that they enjoyed their sandwiches, even though nothing was fried (one still insisted on roast beef). Our oldest also got a peach cobbler for dessert and said it was fantastic. I definitely recommend as a cute, healthier spot for lunch in Glen Rose. read more

Super cute, quaint, cozy bookstore/cafe. Service was great and fast. Food was mighty tasty. Place was adorable. I'm sure it's a local favorite, as there seemed to be a few locals there. But if you're driving through or visiting the area, it's a must stop for a bite to eat. A great variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and soups. Best Reuben sandwich ever!!! Greek chicken wrap was excellent made with shredded chicken. Cute decor and family friendly. Worth the drive but only open during lunch Monday through Saturday. There was no greeting on our way in today 3/14/23 at 2:10 and then it took another 15 minutes for anyone to arrive at our table to take a drink order. I saw how everyone was being treated differently and helped. I have never felt ignored or disrespected in the customer service sect ever until I visited this restaurant with my young son. Even though they finally recognized we hadn't been helped from the start, they certainly didn't make up for the poor service to start with. Glen Rose is in the middle of nowhere, Texas so it was a surprise to find a delicious sandwich place that is in a bookstore! The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable with books and teacups on the walls. The turkey avocado wrap was delicious!!! The people in here are quirky and friendly. Visited during a trip to Glen Rose. Everything was great! Had the veggie wrap. It had lots of fresh veggies, ordered it with the vinaigrette. The peach tea comes in a huge mason jar and is very refreshing. The kids plate is a cute dinosaur sandwich, and comes with a fruit or veggie side. It's of desserts to choose from also! The decoration is fun and definitely different than what you normally see anywhere else. Walls are covered with tea pots, books, games, antiques. We really loved this place! Was a fun little cafe and the kids didn't want to leave. The food was really good and well priced. We had a veggie wrap with chips. There were lots of fresh veggies like avocado, olives, tomatoes,etc. it came on a delicious spinach tortilla. We had jalapeño chips on the side. The kids were excited to see their grilled cheese sandwiches were in the shape of dinosaurs. How fun! Kids said they were really good. Had a piece of delicious chocolate chip pecan pie. It was so gooey and wonderful. I wanted the whole pie. The staff is super friendly! They were really nice and helpful. The restaurant itself is unlike anywhere I have ever been. One of a kind restaurant with a unique personality and a menu full of creative wraps and sandwiches. Our server was very helpful describing the costumer favorites and the daily specials. I love when you can tell that someone is excited to work at restaurant. It speaks volumes about the management and the overall quality of their food. She was so engaging and happy. We had the ABC sandwich (avocado/bacon/cheese) and it was great, she recommended a green bean salad with a sweet dressing and it was delicious. The soup of the day was Italian wedding and it was also great. As for the kids, one a ham sandwich cut in Dino shapes and our server was very accommodating to my other son's request of a bacon only sandwich. Their peach tea was icy cold and pretty tasty. They had a really great room for kids (A brilliant idea!) full of toys and dress up props, my son was absolutely happy in there. The downfall was that it was very dirty (filthy carpet) and lots of broken toys or inappropriate rusty items. I think that if it is in the restaurant it should receive the same attention to detail as their great food, main rooms and restrooms. Just a mom's point of view... Awesome concept that started as a book store and has evolved into a cafe. We stopped by on a busy Saturday during Memorial Day weekend for lunch. Our server was super friendly and nice. Our food took a while but was worth the wait. Nice to have some healthy options in a small town like this. I ordered the veggie wrap in spinach tortilla, my husband had a club sandwich and the kids had turkey sandwiches. The kids sandwiches come with a choice of healthy sides or fries. The chicken salad sandwich on wheatberry bread was delicious. Make sure to eat your pickles, they're above and beyond normal. And dessert. Did I mention dessert? Wow, so amazing and delicious. The peanut butter cheesecake and bread pudding and brownie with ice cream. And finally, the peach tea. You smell it as you drink it. It may very well be the best ice tea I've ever had.
