Nothing spectacular or interesting. I've never tried the deli because the times I've gone back there i can't catch anyone's attention to be waited on. I don't think the employees are particularly helpful or friendly; at least they aren't to me.

A REAL NY deli usually has a few soups like split pea and chicken noodle and matzoh. No soups. Bummer. They had a half dozen sides - 3 kinds of potato salads and a few slaws. I went with the German potato salad. The drink option was spartan - they tossed a styrofoam cup at me and pointed to the soda fountain. The pastrami sandwich was OK for Texas. A SUPER pastrami sandwich on hard rye can get me moaning like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" -- only I don't have to fake it. The German potato salad was watery and bland - I should have gone with the mustard potato salad. Turnaround was on the slow side. Napkins = paper towel roll on table. Flimsy plasticware. The overall vibe was affordable utilitarian. I'll give the sandwich a 4, everything else a 3. Next time I'll drive the extra half hour to Cindi's.

Additionally, the sandwich maker apparently does not know what and order for "moist" brisket means. Mine proved rather dry.

Earlier this fall my husband took me to a cute little cafe in Glen Rose. I loved the way it was decorated and the food was excellent. It surprised me because the outside does not give an indication of the jewel inside. Over the Christmas holiday, I booked a baby shower with the StorieBook Cafe. The owner, Storie, was extremely helpful with the planning. The cafe provided all of the food in the perfect setting with all of the decorations! We had a cute fruit platter, cheeses with crackers, pinwheels, wraps, cake, punch, and drinks. You are now probably thinking at a outrageous price, but we had the complete shower for an outrageously low price. It was so perfect that I tipped at almost forty percent! I have never done that in my life! Storie provided a perfect baby shower. Every guest was impressed with the food and the setting. Thanks, Storie! I will be back.. read more
