Excelent fresh seafood plates. One of my best places in Fort Wayne. The service considered amazing and the ambiance i si accord of therms.

We had been to the Roanoke Street Festival. We both remembered a place called The Oyster on Calhoun Avenue in Fort Wayne. It had some "to die fir" clam chowder. Despite the Yelp App showing the place to be open on Saturday's, sadly it was not. So I returned to my now not-so-trusty app and found this place up by the coliseum. We went there. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder. It was full of potatoes. Summed up in one word--unimpressive. My wife got the crab cakes. Just mediocre There was something deep fried with a stick in it. Hush puppies maybe? It was okay. Then they brought out two slices of a cheesy bread that was broiled. It was probably the best thing we had. The waitress came over and saw the empty bread basket. She asked, "Are you done?" Well unless we were supposed to gnaw on the plastic ir eat the paper lining--yeah, we were done. For main course (because you can't order off the lunch menu on Saturday or Sunday), I had the fried oyster basket and my wife had the soft shell crab. My oysters were not very good. I ate a couple and left the rest. I hope the two I ate do not make me sick. The soft shell crab had a "fishy" taste to it. Most of it was left for the landfill. It is the first time in my life that I ever left oysters uneaten. So this is a pretty negative review, so why two stars. I dunno. Maybe I am being charitable. The staff was friendly. They were all wearing masks correctly. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Plenty of and easy parking. Would I go back? Nope! read more

I always order and bring home to eat. Delicious. Always the right time for some delicious crab legs.

My husband has a love for fried food and I have a love for fresh food. We try to come here once a month , if possible, to satisfy my "boiling crab" style craving. Their fried gator meat and seafood bread is highly recommended by my husband. You can't go wrong with their fresh oyster and their seafood boil. Just be prepared to dress down as it will be messy. Also - be warned that your hands and breath will smell like garlic for days. read more

Half of the waiters don't wear masks, and I could see through the window in the kitchen door that kitchen staff were also not wearing masks. Any restaurant that blatantly disregards safety and hygiene in the front of the house does not give me confidence in what happens in the kitchen when no one is looking. Food was alright, I had one pound of green mussels and half pound of dungeness crab with house Cajun sauce. The sauce was very good; it's much more garlicky than other Cajun seafood places, half of the sauce is just bits of minced garlic. The actual seafood was meh. The mussels were more rubbery than usual and the crab had a hint of that fishy off flavor you get with seafood when it isn't fresh (think old sushi). My stomach didn't feel good the next morning, but the feeling went away after an hour. They don't specify this on the online order site, but if you order a pound of something and half a pound of something else it comes with 3 potatoes and one corn. When you order a pound of seafood you are also given the option to add half a pound of more seafood at a cheaper price. The restaurant was busy when I visited on a Wednesday night, so I imagine it gets packed on a weekend. Although the sauce was good, the quality of the seafood was not, and combined with the lack of safety and hygiene measures means that I will not be back. read more

Food is amazing. Highly suggest the garlic butter seasoning with mild added but to each their own. Service was overall good. She should've checked on us once or twice more to refill our drinks but she was very busy so no complaint. And the inside of the restaurant is different and cool. You can write on the walls and such and it's just different. Definitely will be coming back. Overall, 5 stars. Only thing I wish they had was a surf and turf option like a side of steak or something like that but I get that's not what they really do. read more

The food is great, however, the service sucks, and the waitress acts like you are an inconvenience to deal with when you are lucky enough to get their attention. Watch also your credit charges, I left a customized tip which reflected the service, got back to the hotel, and saw where I was charged I think 18% if my math is right to my card so they got a big tip that was definitely not warranted. I only tip well when the service is good. That is why you tip in the first place, if they get their tips no matter the service rendered no wonder the waitress was so shitty. If the tips reflect service they might actually do a good job when they quit getting huge tips could be a great way to adjust their attitudes and personality.So if your paying with credit watch what you are charged because they apparently charge whatever tip they feel entitled to. read more

Finally went here. Was a little worried as my wife is not a seafood fan. I got the gator which was delicious. I also liked the coleslaw. You know what? I liked everything! Onion rings, Cajun fries, chicken tenders, cheese crab bread, gator nuggets and gumbo!!!! read more

In Ft Wayne foe the weekend for work. Passed this place twice and had to stop, Yelp was calling! Still confused with their menu but my waitress was awesome and walked me thru the list of options. This place is absolutely delicious! If you're a seafood lover as I am, this is 100% worth it. The inside was completely clean and the staff was wearing masks as well. Our server was very attentive and friendly. But the FOOD. If you find yourself here make sure to try the seafood bread for sure. They bring it out at the beginning as complimentary which is a great start. For my meal my friend and I had ordered mussels, scallops, shrimp, and crawfish. Everything was perfect. We got a pound of each and almost finished it so I'd say 2 pounds per person is reasonable if you're wondering how much to get. It does get very messy so that's something to keep in mind even though you are provided plenty of napkins and wet wipes. It's all market price but for everything we got we ended up paying $80 for both so I thought it was reasonable. I will definitely be returning to this place. It's a two thumbs up from me! read more

It was a fun evening for a table of 7. I enjoyed, as a main course, some snow crab, crawfish, soft shell crab, and alligator. Some of the crawfish was slightly over cooked. The selection of marinades and heat level is awesome. I went with a medium heat cajun flavor. The sausage and potatoes were on point while the corn on the cob was a little over cooked. My husband and I did a double take - made a U-turn and went in as quickly as we could - it was cold and snowing outside the first time we went. We were both practically drooling just from the smell alone - it smelled like Seafood Heaven!! (If there is such a place...) The food was excellent - the staff was great and both times we have been there we felt the need for a wheelbarrow to take us to our car. (I actually did much better the second time.) This restaurant rivals any fresh Seafood I've had In Maryland and Mexico. In fact my husband and I consider eating here like a mini-vacation (we live up near the Michigan border) - where else except on a vacation can you get such good/great/wonderful/amazing food??? We were very excited to try this new spot in Fort Wayne. It's basically one of the two places you could go for Cajun food in town. However, we were very disappointed with the service and food quality. It took us over an hour to be seated even though we were told about 30-45 minutes. When we were finally seated, our waiter seemed very flustered and didn't understand much of what we wanted. He kept forgetting things we ordered and had to be reminded of them (we did have 6 people so I will give him that). As far as the food, we got the seafood bread and crab cakes as an appetizer, which were very good. Our main entrees were very disappointing though, especially for the price. I got the fried cod and fries and there was barely any fish underneath all the dry, burnt breading. I ended up mostly just eating fries. My husband got one of the more basic boil bags and enjoyed that for the most part. It took forever to get through though as you wore gloves to keep from getting messy but that hindered him from peeling shrimp and crawfish. My mother-in-law got the crab legs. She spent a decent amount of money on them and then was brought out two, very small and skinny legs. read more

Who would have thought that you could get a good ole Southern seafood boil in Northern Indiana? The Storming Crab, in Ft. Wayne, is amazing. It is located right down the road from the mall and is easy to get in and out of. They have a variety of seafoods to choose from and you can get everything from lunch combos, to baskets, to dinner boils which can easily serve 3 adults. They also bring around their house "seafood bread" before your meal. Imagine super cheesy garlic bread, but the cheese is also mixed with crab. My wife and I love seafood and have gotten used to going to the coast to get great seafood. This gives a local option for food that is as good as anything we have had on the coast. Keep in mind, this is not Red Lobster or Joe's Crab Shack. This place does not have the chain restaurant feel. It feels like a local bar/ seafood shack on the Gulf coast. We had Jenna for a server and she was amazing. She was very patient in explaining all of the menu options, and making sure that we got what we wanted. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get their seafood on. read more

Just what Fort Wayne needed! I came here for the Fried Shrimp. It was awesome! Price at just $9 for fries and 8 shrimp. They are big shrimp so 8 is enough. I ordered two baskets of them, one without the fries, and I could only eat 14 of the shrimp. An hour later, I felt I should have just had the 8. :) The fries were seasoned and very good too. I have lived on east coast and have had easy access to fresh seafood most of my life. This hit the spot! I always beige on Fried Shrimp when I visit my parents on the Gulf Coast. Now, I will not have to because, I will be getting my seafood fix here at least one a month. Thank goodness that we don't have to go to Red Lobster anymore. Red Lobster's butterflied shrimp looks like it came premade. The shrimp at the Storming Crab looks hand breaded. I am sure it was frozen before, but I got a good feeling they bread the shrimp them to order. Came back for the boiled seafood combo. It is super messy. They give you a long bib and thin gloves. My gloves didn't hold up. I recommend changing into a old T-shirt before digging in. The boiled meal was very good. We got medium heat and it was fine. No need to go higher and I can eat the hottest hot wings at wing restaurants. Think here you need more flavor than heat. It is enough food for three or two hungry eaters. Me and my wife finished the seafood and but the potatoes and corn on cob. The corn on the cob didn't interest me or my wife. We would do it again. Their tea is very southern and good. Update: I have come to the conclusion that this is my favorite restaurant in Fort Wayne. I have been 8 times in 2 months since they opened and every single time it has been amazing food. The #2 lunch special with 6 scallops and extra potatoes and corn crab hous Cajun very hot is my go to order and it is impeccable every single time. I don't give 5 stars to very many things. I don't even know where to start. This place is fantastic. We lived on the Gulf Coast for years and we have not found a seafood boil this good since leaving. The crawfish were huge and delicious. The crab was cooked so perfectly that the meat fell out in chunks. We loved the corn and potatoes that soak up the juice. I love that you can customize your boil. We got shrimp, 2 lbs of crawfish, sausage, crab, potatoes and corn. My sleeves were rolled up and hands dirty. A good ol boy, Slap your mama, shut yo mouth kind of seafood boil. So yummy. read more

The food is good but the service is a hit or miss. I placed a pick up order 3 times in the past few months and all the times that I go to pick up, the cashiers behind the bar slack off. They would take my money but make me wait even though my food is ready. I just don't get it, if the food is ready and paid for (I see it sitting in a plastic bag), why not just give it to the customer?? Not sure if the manager is training employees but the cashiers are run by teenagers who just slack off and joke with eachother. We had a number 4 dinner combo. The whole season profile is wrong if they're trying to capture cajun flavors. They did not use a real crawfish boil seasoning and the meal suffered for it. It neither tasted nor smelled anything like boiled crawfish or crab. And both the crab and the crawfish were limp and soggy, and tasteless overall. I would not describe this as a fresh catch meal.
