    Shuffleboard

I love this place. It's got a great vibe and the patrons are always pretty cool. The bartender is super rad and makes sure you are taken care of and have everything you need, all with a smile! The place is always fresh and clean They offer free popcorn, several house drink specials, and some decent food to keep you going. They have about 6 dartboards, a shuffleboard table, a foosball table, and two ping-pong tables to keep you entertained, not to mention great music and several TVs playing all types of sports. The outdoor patio is really nice at night. They also have a second room with a bar and a full dining room with tables. Thank you for always taking care of us!!! I definitely will be returning! Enjoy!!! #jsho

    Birthday Party!

Wow! We loved our experience at Story Tavern. John was the best bartender/handler of all things. I invited 30 of my closest friends (ha) for a little birthday party in the game room. The darts were fun, the shuffleboard was slick, and the ping pong got the best of me. I had a blast with my friends. We ordered drinks, food, and it honestly felt like a good midwest bar hang. Loved it. Thank you again John!! My birthday was a blast.

I came here on a Friday evening in late March with a friend and had a Leprechaun drink. The drink was tasty. The vibe was chill inside but pretty quiet for a bar/restaurant. I would have liked to hear music or at least the TVs. I also would have liked to have used a cleaner restroom. Unfortunately, when I did use it, it looked dirty and ruined my appetite. Hope you have a nicer experience than I.

Came for the games and a drink! A fun place to hang out with friends! Staff was friendly, 90's music at the end of the night was awesome and the simple game room vibe was great

Arugula salad with hand-breaded fried chicken

This is a nice restaurant on a busy Burbank street. It is open pretty late, until 10 pm, but the kitchen closes at 9 pm, which I think should be more clear. It is a very popular place to hang out even on a Thursday night, with a live band, darts, table tennis, a popcorn machine, etc. I was pretty surprised at how busy and lively this place was for past 9 pm. The food is pretty good. We ordered an arugula salad, smash burger special, and garlic tater tots with cheese sauce to share. The food was pretty good overall but the salad could have been better. The salad has fewer greens and more raisins and candied walnuts, which didn't taste super fresh. The hand-breaded chicken, which I added for $4 to the salad, was pretty good but on the crunchier side. They also use chicken thigh, and I'm not a huge fan. My partner really enjoyed his smash burger. I think the garlic tater tots had too much garlic on it. Our server was very kind and helpful. I think overall, the food is pretty good, but there could be some improvements to the dishes we had.

Nice spot ya got here, Story Tavern. Thanks for giving me your delicious Reuben sandwich with a side of excellent tator tots. I also enjoyed my beer (though you didn't make it, having the choice of bitburger is all you). My friends and I sat next to the fireplace and shared some stories as we celebrated the birth of an old friend. He told us some candid stories about some very illegal things. Our service was excellent.

So I'm confused....This place has two side by side locations and we were told to go to the "cider room" to order food. I ordered the chili sliders and took one bite and was done.... A friend of mine asked for a non alcoholic beer and was rid "do you see any on the menu" by the bartender. Then we were told we couldn't have more than 15 people on our group on their OPEN GAME ROOM. Easy to say first and last time here.

Not the first or the last time we have been to establishment! Always a pleasure to stop in for a drink or two! We like to pop in at off times as the place gets quite busy! The bar/restaurant does have plenty of space and multiple rooms! Space for all! And refreshments for all too! They have rotating beers and ciders on tap! A lot of the ciders are made in house. And all of them in the dry side! Also there is a food menu! So drop in for a pint or two!

I love this place! The awesome part is they have really cute seats outside after you get a drink! The only reason I come here because there salsa dancing! It's so awesome they allow dancing out

Still, the drink prices are very fair. Barkeep Elizabeth was friendly from the get-go, and checked on me repeatedly to make sure I had what I needed. I ordered at the bar like always, and the bartender took my order and then walked towards the kitchen. Now I know they usually give you your drink right then and there, but they were busy and I assumed he was going to take care of something else first, which is completely fine! What I didn't expect was this other bartender, who was on the complete other side of the bar and didn't communicate me with at all, was actually filling my drink. I didn't realize that, because he didn't tell me, so I turned to walk back to my table. This rude bartender thought I was abandoning my drink or something, and used his big boy voice to yell "YOUR DRINK!" so loudly that everyone at the bar stopped to stare at me, and some were laughing. Now I didn't know that intentionally embarrassing your patrons is how you guys do business, but ok, whatever makes you feel important I guess... The original bartender who took my order came by and checked and on our table later in the night, and he asked us something that neither my friend or I could hear, so I said "I'm sorry, what?" and he rolled his eyes and walked away. Alternatively, a few months ago, my husband and his friend came here and they received the complete opposite treatment - free drinks, conversations with the bartenders, and were welcomed. I never come into a restaurant/bar, especially a small business, expecting anything for free, that isn't my point at all. I do however expect basic manners and respect. Based on our very different experiences recently, there does seem to be a hint of misogyny going on here. This place used to be cool and friendly, and food has always been great, but the men who work here completely ruin it. It's really disappointing.

It's like this event was made for me: First of all, it was close to home. Secondly, it was vegan. Lastly, no matter how much I was eating that day, I couldn't get full. This sounded like a good solution. Parking, the bane of any Angelenos existence, was free on the street. I was lucky and quickly found one on a residential street. I came a little early because, again, I was hungry. It gave me time to figure out by listening in to other newcomers that we needed to buy a ticket from the bar. The ticket also serves as a punch card because you only get one bowl from each vendor. It's also how you vote for your favorite because it has a QR code for that. Unsure of how things worked, I asked how many different types of chili I could try and was told "All of them." Not bad for $20 since I ended up eating 5 bowls of chili. The bowls are a little small, but times that by 5 and that's a lot of chili. I went from being so hungry to coming home so full. I wish they had given us a tray because what I wanted to do was have all 5 bowls in front of me, take a spoonful from each one, then make my decision on my favorite. What I ended up doing was precariously carrying 3 bowls on the first trip, finishing those off, and then coming back for the last 2. I was planning to eat outside, but the small patio filled up fast. I appreciate the fact that this event gave the bar a more family friendly vibe since people also brought their kids who were playing with the board games the bar had on hand anyway. This was my first time coming here and my first time going to a chili cook off, so even though I didn't stay long since I basically scarfed all 5 chili bowls down in a matter of minutes, I enjoyed myself.

Despite being pretty busy, bartender Aaron did a great job of pouring drinks, ordering and serving food, and still making good conversation when he had a moment to spare. And even with the TV's loudly playing the match, the dark wood and comfortable stools created a relaxing atmosphere to combat the hectic traffic along Ventura Blvd. I decided to have their Grilled Cheese with Irish Bacon, which also comes with your choice of tomato or onion; I chose grilled onions. The bread was buttery and lightly grilled to an enjoyable crisp, while the cheddar was properly melted (something that often doesn't happen). Thick-cut Irish Bacon was nicely cooked without being tough, and the sweetness of the grilled onions proved to be a welcome foil for the saltiness of the cheese and bacon. With the onions and Irish bacon, this is a far more substantial sandwich than your average grilled cheese, and I had a touch of trouble finishing -- especially given the well-done & crispy fries that came on the side. But as this meal is about the same price as other places, you're definitely getting much more bang for your buck here, and the food is higher quality to boot. I've always liked Fox & Hounds, and it's nice to know their food and staff have remained top notch as the years have passed. If you've never been, it's most definitely worth a try -- and if you haven't been in a while, it's time to go back for a very satisfying pub experience.
