Great beer but not all that warm of a spot when it is cold outside. They have a really great selection of beers and it has a nice open atmosphere. When it's the winter it is a bit cold inside. This is one of my favorite breweries to take out of towners.The beer is good and I love the various sitting areas they have (upstairs, bar, outdoor patio). They have games upstairs you can play. Dogs are allowed but only downstairs, but it gets pretty busy on the weekends so there isn't much room to walk around. They always have a food truck outside which is a must for brewery hopping. They also have an interesting vending machine with various beef jerky sticks and assortment of food. read more

I wish I could grade this on a curve since I greatly dislike IPAs and it's not fair to rate them based on the crowd to whom they appeal, but I can't help it. Over half the menu was IPAs, while the other half was made up of sours or standard flagships. Maybe great for the IPA-lover, but steer clear if you like variety or dark. ETA: my one-star review was more of a warning to beer drinkers with tastes like mine. That was unfair to the brewery, so I'll split the difference and up it to 3. read more

NOT kid friendly. After visiting here for the first time, we were asked to leave while my wife was breastfeeding our infant because our 3 yr old kid playing on the floor with her friend was a "safety hazard" Obviously I will not be returning but hope this helps some other families read more

Ballard, how you feel like midtown Anchorage. Stoup was no different. This place has tasty beers, and while the tap list was IPA heavy when we visited, the real winner with their kolsch. Inside was a toasty refuge on a typically drippy Seattle day, and staff and patrons alike were friendly. Excited to visit here again! read more

My number one recommended breweries in Seattle. My favorite beer is the Citra IPA. All beers that are offers in as a pint is $5. Must stop when brewery hopping in Ballard! They have both indoor and outdoor seating with bars in each (outside bar has fewer selection) with a food truck rotation. Street parking, but in that neighborhood you can find something pretty easily. read more

Stoup has one of the best IPAs in Seattle- the Citra IPA. Brewed with Citra hops, this beer is refreshing and fulfilling. I've never been unhappy with any of their beers, and I always try the new beers when they rotate in new taps. The brewery is super cool, and I feel like a very hip 30 year old when I come here. There are clean lines and metal and wood in the décor, while at the same time managing to be comfortable and inviting. Kids are allowed too, and they have some toys for them. The staff here is very friendly and always willing to talk in depth about beer tasting and brewing so I recommend picking their brains if you're interested! The brewmaster/owner is the first female master cicerone in Washington, so that's cool! You can tell she really knows her stuff when you taste the beer. The patio is great, parking is easy, and they often have great food trucks parked outside. They have a parking lot and easy street parking. Oh! And their growler fills are a great deal! read more

I am giving this place 4-stars because I think the owner lives on top of their brewery and I am so jealous because my life dream would be to wake up and go downstairs to admire my ginormous kingdom of beers. Ok but really, this place is an amazing place to grab a beer and relax. They have a spacious outdoor patio area in an orange and teal color palette that'll make you feel like you need nothing else in life than a hoppy glass of Northwest IPA and good company. They don't serve food, but they have a rotation of food trucks that come through right outside. But if not, their beers will fulfill your needs and keep you full. I'll be back. We were hungry and hoping for good food. There were four of us. I wanted a salad. I was looking for something with some meat. I ordered a chop salad that was supposed to have salami. When it came it was heaped into a very small bowl. There were maybe three ribbons of paper thin salami. I actually had to go home and eat because I left so hungry. The rest of my party ordered pizza. The toppings were very sparse and the crust thin. They said the beer wasn't all that good either. Total rip-off. This is a hard pass. Never go there again! read more

This is a great little micro-brewery. They make consistently good beers, are always happy to take the time to explain the beers, and the space has a cool vibe to it. They usually have a food truck parked outside- and also have a very affordable vending machine that has some cool stuff in it (bacon chocolate fr example). Can get crowded- and they do allow dogs/kids. This is a great addition to the growing micro-brew scene in Ballard. read more

Maybe I'm being unfair because this is the second brewery I've reviewed in a night, but I'm having a better time at this one and the beers I've ordered here have been tastier. No pretzels but a better atmosphere overall I think. I'd probably come back here even though the selection is smaller, maybe 10 beers vs 30. But the ones I've had seemed better overall. Also, the bathroom has a changing table and a bunch of markers and crayons. I don't have kids, but I'd like to think this is the kind of drunk parent I want to be someday. read more

When this place opened last year it was one of the last Ballard breweries to get going. And they obviously dumped a ton of money into it, which is why I didn't want to like it. Except the beer is awesome and the taproom is hands down the best in the area. They also have live music periodically in addition to the ubiquitous rotating food trucks out front. Their NW IPA is one of their best beers and one of the best Ballard IPAs, and their Robust Porter is one of my main go-to beers. Their always have a couple specialty beers and they are always worth a try as well. read more

Great craft brewery in the industrial area in Seattle/Fremont. I like their options-- a little more gritty than say, Fremont Brewing, but that's why they're here. Excellent Porter. Stoup Brewing was the first brewery we hit when we were doing the Ballard brewery crawl. What is so amazing is that so many breweries are at your disposal from a very short walking distance in this neighborhood. This was the only brewery where Steve and I got our own beers and did not share one beer together. Here I got the Porter. The weather demanded that it was a dark beer kind of day and that was what many of brewery selections wound up being throughout the day. So many of the breweries in the neighborhood are closed during the week so you have to go many of these on the weekends which means everyone will be there. And it seemed just about everyone was at Stoup. but we managed to get some seating. So as I was saying it was a dark beer kind of day and so I got the Robust Porter. I think it was the best dark beer I had out of the six or seven breweries we hit that day. It was so smooth and had a delicious flavor to it. It was so smooth it had a creamy quality to it which meant that it was not long and I pretty much downed the entire beer. Steve got a Pale Ale and while he did not remember exactly which one he had from the several that they brew here it too was delicious and had a wonderful flavor to it. I'm pretty sure I accidentally sneaked in here for a pre-opening private event, but they took my money and gave me beer anyway. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone ;) This place is brand new, and from the looks of it is a serious up and comer on the Ballard nanobrewery scene. It's got a bit more polish than some of the others in the immediate area, with fancy iron work tables, nice decorations, and a bit more elbow room. They only had three well balanced beers on tap, but it definitely looked like they had plenty of taps to expand to. We walked away with a growler of the porter, but the IPA was excellent as well. Placed was jam packed when the lady and I stopped by. Pretty cool spot, beers were pretty good. I ordered the NW Red and the lady got the Mosaic Pale Ale. Our server lady didn't seem very happy... The place seemed pretty laid back. I'd like to give it another try some time down the line. read more

Had the 8-flavor sampler today ($2 per 4 oz = $16 total; a great price compared to L.A.!). By far, my favorite drink was the Hef. I tend to gravitate more towards golden ales and Hefs in general, so this could potentially bias my review. The Hef was fruity, flavorful, and rich in taste -- maybe not the best i've ever had, but still very good to drink and sip on during a nice warm summer day. When I visit again, I will definitely order the Hef and just stick with that. For the most part, the location was chill, with indoor/outdoor seating, easy-to-find parking, and a pretty good selection of beers to choose from. I actually prefer Fremont Brewery more, after experiencing both locations, but this is just a personal preference. If you're in town, you should definitely try Stoup Brewing. They have a little bit of everything for everyone, and I think your experience will be good and your taste buds will be satisfied. Cheers! read more

This brewery has a really cute little space with board games, a personalized vending machine, and a nice beer garden. Unfortunately, I've been unimpressed by the beer so far. Their Imperial Stout was 9% and dark, which would normally be along the lines of a beer I would like, but it was too harsh for even my tastes. Will come back and update if they ever release a bourbon barrel aged variety. read more

Depending on your beer tastes, everyone is going to find something they like best. There is no wrong option. trust me! Good beer, relaxed atmosphere, and cool glassware. We did however make the mistake of stopping by during a beer event off site that lead to this place getting pretty packed. Luckily we were able to snag a table against the wall. Stoup seems like the kind of place to hang without presumption. For the most part it's no frills and their beer styles lean toward the traditional (pilsner, ipa, stout). The space does have a nice small-ish patio but boasts an open-air concept using a garage door as a wall. The offer up food trucks outside for noming, of which we scarfed from french fries and banana ketchup [way legit]. Recommend a stop during a Ballard brewery round. read more

I am loving all these new family, dog friendly breweries popping up all over the place! Thank you for realizing people with families also like to enjoy a beer out in public! Showed up on a Friday night and the place was crowded. They had a food truck parked outside which was very popular. They have a great outdoor patio! We were lucky to have great weather when visited in October so got to enjoy it! I enjoyed their beer. Not my favorite but decent. They do have many ipas to pick from!! One thing the beers seemed a bit more then typical small breweries in the area. Service was great. Had someone asking and pouring out in the line to get everyone their beer quicker. It's a gorgeous sunny spring afternoon in Seattle and you want to grab a beer with the folks near Fremont, where do you go? Chuck's was absolutely packed with people. Ruben's and Populuxe, with their fantastic brews and small spaces were equally swamped. I suggested Stoup because they are good at handling large crowds. In addition to having significant space outdoors and inside, they had a good system of handling the orderly, Seattle-type line snaking out the door. I'm not a fan of their IPAs, but their Mosaic Pale Ale is one of my all time favorite beers anywhere. Also really delicious were the German Style Pilsener, Hoppy Farmhouse, Rye Saison and Sour Beer. read more
