This place has relatively good food for a relatively good price. The staff was super friendly but the food took a while to come out, long enough for me to run across the street to the general store and still wait when I got back. The portions are great, the cheeseburger was tasty, and the pasta was a little bland. There's also a pay to play pool table.

We were staying in furnace creek but couldn't bring ourselves to pay $30 a person for their buffet. After reading TripAdvisor about the gas station in stovepipe and Google maps/a local corroborated that this place was the better one in the center of Death Valley we decided to combine the sunset hike of Mesquite Dunes with our restaurant visit The waiter Roy was very friendly and seated us promptly. We heard a guy a few tables down saying that this was the 2nd day he had driven from furnace creek to ear We tried the tortilla soup, the bean burger, mushroom pasta, and regular burger. All were reasonably priced and there were veggie/vegan options on the menu. They told us the cakes were from Cheesecake Factory, which was a nice touch. Decor was posters of the plethora of movies filmed in Death Valley and quaint in itself. 10/10 would recommend!

Civilization, and cold beer, at last! Imagine you've been riding your horse through desolate wilderness for days and your supplies are all but out! You are tired, desperate for food and thirsty. Then you look up and there it is! Stovepipe Wells Restaurant! It is over a 110 degrees, you park your car, ahmm! Tie up your horse and open the heavy wooden door. Inside, a beautiful western style restaurant-bar with plenty of cold beer choices on tap and in bottle. What else could you do but to walk up to the bar, ask for a long cool one and a plate of spicy Buffalo wing?! I've been to Stovepipe Wells Restaurant a few times over the last few years, and I must admit that my first time there was the funnest time because it was so new to me. The food hovers between "OK" and "Good" depending on your timing, same goes for the service. Remember that they are in the middle of nowhere, so your choices for food are limited, but you are guaranteed to be happy with the beer or other drinks that come out of their bar. Stovepipe Wells Restaurant is a must stop, at least for once.

When we got to the restaurant half the power had been taken out by some crews working down the way so we got a limited menu. I am so happy for this because it forced us to choose the BBQ Burger. It was one of the best burgers we have had in so long. The bun should get five stars on it's own and the onion rings were crispy and fresh. The meat was just the right size with tons of flavor. Once you get done with the most delicious burger you are left with crispy fries that you could eat for days. Our server kept checking in with us and apologizing for the craziness of the night. It was completely out of their control but they made the best of it. Thank you for the great service and food!

Sometimes you love a restaurant for the food but hate the flaws like I just witnessed today First of all, I would have rated this a 5 star if the food didn't take so long and the food wasn't overpriced. We got in the restaurant and after like twelve minutes they came to take our order. Then about an hour later they served a LOT of food to another table and said, "sorry there was a busy table but we will get you're order shortly." Soon enough they gave that table a bill and I wanted to convince my family this was a waste of time and that we could have eaten at home and started sightseeing by now until food finally came. But I ordered French toast with fresh fruit not fresh jam! They were also supposed to add butter but that didn't happen either. Food was also overpriced for what it was. I didn't give this a one star because food was still great! If you can, avoid this restaurant but if you have no idea in going somewhere else, go ahead!

Same menu. There was a fundamental problem with every meal except one: burned hamburgers (multiple times), served someone else's meal, hot meal served cold, etc. The nasty woman who seated people in the front of the place was an added nice touch. (I'll be performing due diligence before future trips and be certain to avoid any establishments owned or managed by Powdr, https://www.powdr.com/.) Side note: The employees eat for free here and are given employer-paid housing. Many are *totally* unqualified and abrasive -- should never be dealing with the public. But, you get what you get in an environment like this, I guess. Friendly advice to anyone staying at Stovepipe Wells: Plan ahead! Bring the food you can with you with a means to prepare it. Objective: Minimize your patronage of this nasty place and it's neighbor, the Badwater Saloon. Your efforts will be rewarded.

Whitney. We had looked at the menu online and had an idea of what we wanted in advance, nope. Out of: the elk, all lamb, trout, and the filets- we ended up with two orders of top sirloin. I had mine with the mushrooms and my husband had his with the green peppercorn sauce- I guess you can still have the sauces even though the meat is gone. The steaks were ok, I definitely did not get what I wanted and probably wouldn't have stayed if I had known just how bad it would be. I did see others walk out, and people that ordered after me were not happy. There's a really easy way to fix this- daily paper menus with what you actually have. Maybe even update them as things run out. Just cross stuff out. Let the guests know up front. If I had known how limited it was, I wouldn't have ordered a drink and eaten the tasty bread roll. Service wasn't that great either- the person that brought the drinks was very friendly, but otherwise our waiter was pretty inattentive. I had the Bees Knees which I enjoyed, I ordered a glass of red to go with the steak, and that didn't show up till I was well into my meal. Weirdly, I would give this place another shot, but would order before even sitting down. That way when I am told that all I can get is a steak that I'm not that interested in, I'll go somewhere else. Or eat at the bar, have a decent drink and leave when you see how dire the menu selection is.

The staff was kind, and the building was cool, but that's where the charm ended. We walked into an obese pit bull literally sitting on a chair at the table, right next to where we got seated. There had been a sign out front saying there was a "service dog" inside with a picture of the obese pit bull in question, so I guess that's helpful but calling it a service dog really stretches credulity. I'm not sure what service the dog is providing for the owner who was not present until the end of our meal, at which point he paraded the dog around the tiny restaurant to greet customers. Another customer came in with a dog, too - apparently this tiny restaurant is teetering into becoming a dog park. I love dogs. I work with animals for a living. I am a dog owner and bring my dog everywhere I can, within reason and with the explicit permission of the businesses we visit. I do NOT appreciate a poorly-behaved pit bull, kept docile by virtue of his excessive weight, slobbering on a dining table. I do not appreciate dog dander in my food. But mostly, being in a family that used actual guide dogs - as in, dogs that were specifically bred and trained for YEARS by experienced professionals to assist their visually impaired handlers all day, completely ignore food and people that try to interact with them, and to tuck themselves quietly at their handler's feet at a restaurant, I'm put off by "service dogs" just moseying around a restaurant or sitting at a table with diners. It really does seem like this dog's main purpose is to hang out and be a restaurant mascot, which sure sounds like a health code violation. Dog dander aside, the food was basically on par with what you might order at any American-style Chinese restaurant. The orange chicken had a strong orange peel flavor, so it stood out. The rice was dry. I didn't notice anything unique about the soy sauce. The other items we ordered were unremarkable.
