We came here because the community voted them the best place to buy maple syrup. The owner was a friendly and kind woman who shared information about the different types of syrup and let us taste them all. Our favorite was the dark amber one. We also bought the cookbooks (I never thought about substituting granulated sugar for maple syrup but I will now!) and lots of the maple jams, which were actually made by a local woman. I love the idea of supporting local business, especially those run by women. We enjoyed chatting with the owner and she gave us great recommendations for lunch as well. We passed by this place a few times and really glad we finally stopped by to sample the maple syrup products. It was flavorful and smooth. We bought the No. 1 Medium, it is between the light and stronger amber taste, that is supposed the most common favorite. The gentleman who worked there, we supposed he was the owner, is helpful and friendly. We tried a few other maple stores and stands in this area today and we think Stowe Maple Products syrup is one of the best we had. read more

Great little shop with great product and friendly service. The woman working there was very helpful, without being pushy. She offered samples of the product, as well as advice on making a selection and storing the syrup at home. We are in Stowe 4 weeks a year and always buy our maple syrup at Stowe Maple Products! Just as David D. found them closed when he wanted to buy syrup, I also had that experience last year the day before we were heading home. However, I called them and they actually told me to come over and they would open to sell me their delicious product! They are the ONLY place I buy my syrup and the nicest people you could ever hope to do business with! I just returned from a short visit to my Granddaughter, who moved to Stowe in January, and introduced her (along with my sister) to this wonderful store! Their maple syrup is to die for! I'm from CT and normally buy my maple syrup at Costco or Stop & Shop. There is simply no comparison. They are a small farm and tHey make it right on the premises, and it is fantastic. Rich and buttery--they will let you taste the different types (light, medium, or dark). I bought the medium. However, they keep irregular business hours, so be persistent about stopping by. We went by three times and they were closed, but I called the number and the owner picked up and came over from next door and opened the shop for me. They don't have a website and frankly don't want one because they are able to sell what they make. Charming people and definitely not a tourist trap. Well worth a stop!!! Although we have not been to other similar businesses for comparison, it would be hard to find a more congenial person than Robin, the owner. Nor do we believe that we could find a better value. The maple products we purchased were less expensive and far better tasting than anything we've ever found at home. Robin explained that raw maple syrup extracted directly from the tree has a high water content. However, most producers do not extract as much water as she and her husband do. This makes for a sweeter and more intense maple flavor. We had our purchases shipped by her directly to our home in Oregon. The package arrived the next day after we returned home. We would do business with Stowe Maple again and feel we could recommend them without reservation. read more
