As we were driving into Sand Island, we noticed a familiar sign along the way and remembered that it was a food truck that we tried out a while back. They now have a cute little set location and you don't have to wait for a food truck rally to get their delicious food. We got there around 11am on a Tuesday, placed our order and in the meantime the line got really long. The mad lunch rush came, so lucky thing we got there before that. The Shrimp Katsu was really good. The kids enjoyed the Salmon Katsu, but did mention that it had too much stuff on it. Visited this food truck during the Lokahi festival and let me tell you, I have no regrets picking this trucks! We got the town and country to get a variety of things. It was $20 but worth it because of the portion. The shrimp Tonkatsu was DELICIOUS. So crispy and pairs very lovely with the noodles. The noodles are on the sweeter side (which I enjoyed but others may not) and very flavorful! The rice was the perfect texture. The beef was nothing to run home about, I thought it was okay but my boyfriend liked it with the rice! I saw someone else subbed it for a diff beef which I would probably do if I came back. I'll be honest when there's a pop up on my feed and I see noodles...you got my attention. Str'Eats of Aloha that started I believe from a food truck has now opened their store front right on Sand Island Access Road at the very back building and congratulations!!!! What's great and I love about this area is that they have parking for every type of vehicle and is relatively easy to swing by for quick pick up. It's so great to now not hunt around and find your fix right here. Though the noodles runs through my veins I just had to try their Grilled Guava Chicken for $13 and wow I'm so glad I did!! It comes with three huge pieces of grilled chicken all slathered in that luscious sweet and flavorful guava sauce just grilled to perfection on a super generous bed of white rice woohoo!! Of course along with a scoop of macaroni salad and a dinner roll I tell you this plate was HOT!! I wouldn't be surprised if it melted the plastic but it's all good as its in a microwave safe container. As convinient as parking in front the establishment is, Long bed trucks usually park right alongside the parked cars & I had to wait about 10 minutes or so before the the long bed truck left before I was able to return to work. But that's beyond the establishment's control but wanted to give you guys a heads up. Anywhoo, this place give big portions at affordable prices! Had their str'eats bento: furikake rice, spam, hot dog, teri beef, fish katsu, breaded shrimp, & char siu fried noodles. Every item that was supposed to be crispy was (fish katsu & breaded shrimp), supposed to be juicy was, & flavors were bountiful in eat bite. & the meat to rice & noodles ratio was perfect! There's seating but come early as the tables were full by the time I picked up my phone order, I believe there was about 4-5 tables. First time went a few weeks ago. I liked the shrimp and pork belly. Had the beef teriyaki it wasn't my favorite.

You know, I hate to give bad reviews to small (I think!) local businesses, but this place was horrible. After waiting almost 35 minutes, my husband and I got the bento2 of which they said they"d run outta rice, but we'd get more charsui noodles. Not many local places run outta rice, but okay. So, we came home, reheated the plate and as my husband eloquently put it " is this place a bakery or what" because everything except the shrimp was so fricken sweet! And on top of that, the noodles left a funky aftertaste. I know they got good reviews and that's why we traveled from town to get that bento. There was good business and if sweet food is your thing, then this is your takeout. Not us, so won't be coming back. And you know, if you're serving bento, you need to say " than you for waiting " as the Japanese people do and I guarantee you, no dish in Japan would take 35 minutes! read more

Their menu is pretty big they have a wide variety of options, their prices are very reasonable. If I'm not mistaken the most expensive plate was $18. So we ordered the smoke meant with fried rice it cost a little over $13 The portion size was huge, swear it weighted a good 2-3lbs. The smoke meat was so flavorful, and SOFT!! It WAS NOT chewy like most smoke meat! The onions was fried just right, not over cooked still had crunch when you bite into it! We also order the lechon kawali The pork was super crunchy on the outside but the meat was soft in the middle. The tomatoes and onions were perfect to pair! Served also with dinner roll and toss green. Loved that they don't put your dressing on the toss green. Okay time wait was not really long. Need I remind you the people working were so friendly, and talked story the whole wait. Oh and before we left they gave us some pastries! Hidden gem of Sand Island Access Road for sure! I work in Sand Island and my office is always looking for a place for lunch. We thought we tried almost every lunch spot on the main road and the many hidden mom and pop spots on the side streets. Driving to work I saw the "new" spot I was intrigued, then I saw the same joint on Guy Hagi's "cheap eats" and I was shocked on the quality of food that was offered and knew I had to try it! The cool thing it's right down the street of my shop, bummer thing is that they close at 1pm! They open early at 6am for the blue collar crew! I told our new worker all about what I saw on "cheap eats" and he said "you fly, I buy! My treat for the office!" and it was on! I was anxious to see and taste the quality of the plate lunches. I was hyping the place up so much, my reputation was on the line! Will Guy Hagi make a Lie Hagi out of me? NO! It was everything he said, and more! Thank you Guy Hagi! The food was soooo good! I ended up getting one of the Specials, "honey glaze, macadamia nut chicken karaage" my boss got another special the "grilled guava spareribs" (Kalbi cut) and my man Juan got the "fish katsu" yeah they got a fish katsu! As you can see, their portions are huge. The fish Katsu had three Pattie's! I couldn't eat the whole plate! I also didn't want to have a "Kanak attack" at work so I saved the rest for dinner! Not to make, but for real, it is one of the best chicken plate lunches I've ever had in my life! I mean come on, honey glazed macadamia nut sauce! For sure we will be back because we need to try every single option on their entire menu. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that they have local infused bakery goods too! Well, this place jus' happened to be on Guy Hagi's CHEAP EATS, yesterday! With it fresh on my mind, I had to try it for lunch today with 4- Co-Workers. We got there at about 11am (3/2/2023) and I guess a lot of other people saw the same short on tv the day before, so the line was kinda long! All 5 of us got our orders in , but with the crowd ahead of us.. we'll we didn't get our lunch in hand until 1150am. They were swamped! It's a small place with very limited seating, so we stood outside waiting for our order number to be called. We had 3- Town & Country ( substitute white rice for fried rice and Teri beef for smoked meat) 1- Dragon Chicken and the last was 1- smoked meat plate. Once we had our orders we went back to work to eat. The portions were incredibly huge, and everything was actually on point for taste " ONO"! The fried noodles, for me personally was a bit on the sweet side. The large tempura shrimp was fantastic, and smoked meat was jus' right! I'm a big eater, and half my lunch and I was ready for " kanak attack"!!!! But, I had a few hours to ho at work and struggled the last two hours! Used to always eat at their lunch truck when it was parked by my work. The guava chicken was delicious! Unfortunately, the truck stopped coming to my location and I haven't had their food since then. Was so excited to hear they now had a physical location in Sand Island. Plenty of parking in front. Young girl cashier was super friendly. Buuuut, they had NO guava chicken!!!! What the funk? Soooo disappointed! Decided to try the guava pork belly (After all, you can never go wrong with pork belly, right?) WRONG! The store location is located on the stripmall (whole bunch of stores and restaurants) on sand island access road right before Larrys Napa. The atore location has like seating for 4 (more to sit and wait) not really a place to sit down and eat.... more a pick up and go kind of place. The staff is friendly and cool. The menu is mostly all local comfort food. The prices is fair considering their portions are generous and the quality is good. So im rating this place a 2 star. The food is pretty decent, we tried this place a week prior at a different even so when we saw it at what the truck we wanted to get it again, but my low rating is for the service we got today. We got our food from there pop up at what the truck tonight, we waited over an hour for one plate, what made us mad is that people that ordered way after us, ordered the same food and they got it before we got ours. After waiting about 40 mins We asked if they had our plate and they told us it wasnt ready yet, twenty mins or so later we asked again and they were completely confused and looked as if they forgot our order. The food was tasty as usual, but the service today was not something I would want to experience again. We called in our order 40 minutes before we wanted to pick it up. We were told that they were estimating about a 35 minute wait from the time we called in. By the time we got there and stood in line to pay it was now 20 minutes past our pick up time. That was when we told that it would be another 15 more minutes before our food was ready. Well that 15 minutes became 30 minutes. So from the time we called in our order to the time we received our food was 1 hour and 30 minutes.
