I guess I haven't come to this new location of Mitsu-Ken ever since they moved from their School St location . Every time I pass by there's a line which is good although I don't want to stand in line for garlic chicken lol . There's one line for ordering and another line for pick ups or phone orders . I ordered the mini bento and after I said I was paying in cash, the lady lowered the price, I'm assuming because that surcharge was the credit card service fee. I saw nowhere inside about a service fee will be charged when paying with card. I tried the bento and sadly the garlic chicken lacked flavor. I barely tasted garlic. I remember when this place was across Mitsuba on N School St. Parking could be hard to find at certain times of the day (that's why I would sometimes decide on Mitsuba which had a dedicated small lot). Things are a little better now where there are at least some parking spaces. While I love okazuya, it is easier to just get a bento- less stress on my mind. Times have changed--the prices are a bit higher (but then they are higher everywhere). Still good and I love their egg roll. read more

Mitsu-ken has been a place I've wanted to try for a long time, and I finally made it over there. We ordered the Breakfast Combo and Breakfast Special. The garlic fried chicken ended up being the highlight. It was super crispy with a nice garlic flavor that wasn't too strong, and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was pretty standard, and the eggs were cooked perfectly over-easy. The fried rice was the one thing that missed the mark. Some parts were still white, like it didn't get mixed or cooked all the way. Overall it was good, but I'm not sure if it's a spot I'd go out of my way to return to. read more

Everything was just as i last remembered it. Growing up as a kid everyone would bring Mitsu-Ken garlic chicken to parties and it was always gone. Usually this place is spot on, but today was not so great! Got the breakfast deluxe combo, 4 shrimp and two vegetable tempura! I was curious why was so expensive when I looked at my receipt the price per shrimp was $3.09!!! Yes $3.09!!! Good lord what a rip off! Their breakfast specials are da bomb. If you're into salty, greasy, fatty, heart clogging, gravy saturated food, then you have finally arrived at heaven's Gate. Dark meat chicken pieces with skin on deep fried to a crispy golden brown infused with garlic. Grilled Portuguese sausage slices, bacon almost burned to a crisp. White rice soaked in grease and salty gravy. All topped off with 2 eggs any style. Peak breakfast and lunch hours generate long lines of hungry local workers craving for their daily fix of salt and grease. It may not be good for your heart but it sure is damn good for your soul. Lines are long all day because the food is consistently delicious here! My go to choices are the breakfast bentos and a la carte items. Be aware that breakfast is stopped at 10:30 AM every day theyre open. Known for their garlic chicken and fried rice, this place is always a great introduction to some local favorites and local food in general. Card and cash accepted. Drinks available. But what was the most dissatisfying thing about the order which should've been the highlight of the meal was the garlic chicken, my other half has been coming here for years since keiki days and said to me that the chicken doesn't taste the same anymore because they don't change it their oil, they re use that same oil to fry everything and i took a bite and you can definitely taste that old or burnt oil flavor.
