I used Stradford Funeral Home for my beloved Mother, Shirley Valz. My mother was transported to the US from Canada and Stradford handled all required documentation to enable a smooth burial. I am very pleased with their service and Maritza was very professional. They were affordable. I did not need much done (just burial), so I am very pleased with their service. This place is complete trash. My mom passed away this week. And a cousin told us about this place because she knows one of the women working here. The funeral home is dated and dirty. My sisters, husband & brother in law and some of the staff sat in the conference room. Very unprofessional. Staff kept coming in and out and our whole process was continuously interrupted. Shawn even thought it would be a good idea to make a personal call while we were supposed to be making my mother's burial arrangements! Thankfully we didn't settle the financial aspect that day. We returned the following day and Compton (who was the first individual we dealt with the previous day) looked at us like he hadnt just seen/talked to us the day before. But it got worst -we received the same treatment from the owner Shawn. He had the nerve to justify his confused unprofessional treatment by telling my sister "I haven't eaten since Monday". My sister responded with "what do I care? I haven't seen my mother since Monday!" Why in the world would your eating/fasting schedule be relevant to a family grieving the loss of their mother?? The cost is cheap-but you get what you pay for. Despite the crappy service-we were eager to get our mother out of this place. And of course these crooks not only quickly brought her over from the hospital but insisted on charging us for moving her despite the crappy experience. Stay away from this place. Your deceased loved one & family members deserve so much better. We decided to go to Matthew Funeral Home and oh my goodness-what a difference!! read more

Stradford Funeral Home, the owner Mr. Shawn Stradford and his team are unprofessional, deceiving, and callous. I would never give this establishment any business at all. My father's so -called wife, who lacks decency by all means, gave this establishment business with regards to his arrangements. Stradford Funeral Home, Shawn Stradford and the unskilled administrator/secretary, were biased from the beginning. I'm not sure what the hoopla of Mr. Shawn Stradford, is but from my experience he is a lousy funeral director /owner. Never met him during this difficult ordeal, all phone calls, meet and greets were through his administrator/secretary. The administrator /secretary is crummy herself. To families whom are in grief and want a proper burial or cremation for your loved ones, I would not recommend this establishment at all. Oh, and don't think you are offered any type of grief counseling. On their website, they state Reverend Yvonne Stradford as, the grief counselor. The email for this so-called grief counselor is not even operable!! What establishment or business, offers services, but your email is not operating correctly!!! Perhaps the community in which Stradford Funeral Home is located, has no idea, that there are several other funeral homes that are more professional and courteous to the deceased loved one's. My sentiments of Stradford Funeral Home are, Run Down, Unkempt, Unprofessional, and Sneaky Business Practices! read more

Your loved one need not be entrusted into the care of such unprincipled, immature, unprofessional and someone who is delinquent in payments to third party service providers . The previously mentioned characteristics of the manager will have your loved one receive undignified and mediocre care. The third party service providers who severed ties to this funeral firm include but are not limited to livery company (hearse and limo), embalmer, funeral director. You loved one deserve much better than being entrusted to Stradford funeral home once the attitude , immaturity and unethical behavior of the manager isn't changed. read more

Wow I just found out they had a yelp page. In April 2016 my brother died and it was truly a difficult time for me and my family. Stradford funeral home really made this process for my family a more bearable one. The last time my family experienced death was over 15 years ago and we didn't know what to expect. They were recommended by a very close friend of the family and I'm so happy we made the final decision to have them take care of my brother. The staff travel to my brothers house in Queens two times making sure all the details were covered. Even when we ran into problems with my brother's insurance company they were able to work something out with us. My mother and sister went to view his body before the funeral and they said he looked as if he was sleeping. ( I couldn't) My brother's home going service was so nice and the staff helped us from the beginning to the end. The other two reviews are unfortunate but I didn't experience anything like that. I would definitely recommend this funeral home and I would use them again hopefully no time soon. read more
