I picked up a Straight Talk phone to cover a couple of months while my contract phone is away for repair or replacement. First month wasn't all that bad, it seemed to work as a phone service. Then the fun started. I got a text offering me $5 of my next months renewal, not a great deal but I figured I may as well take advantage of it. Except the link I was sent didn't work, it didn't take me to a renewal option as it stated it would but just to the generic website. But okay, I tried to log in. It kept telling me I was using the wrong password. (I wasn't). So for the next 45 minutes I fought with it. Multiple times I had it send me two step verification codes, confirmed my e-mail and phone number, again multiple times. I finally changed my password, successfully I might add so the system is happy that I am who I say I am. Then at the system prompt I attempted to log in with the new password only to be told again that I was using the wrong password. (I wasn't) The literal password that I literally just updated. I gave up and drove to the store, so now they are wasting both my time and my money. The store rep honestly admitted to me that the app hasn't worked for months and that everyone is aware of it. So it's a complete waste of time for everyone. I renewed for a month in-store but because I did I now couldn't use the $5 off I was offered. Not a big deal financially but it gets under my skin on principle. Bottom line is the system is totally dysfunctional and any offer is just a lying scam because due to that dysfunction you won't be able to ever claim it. Straight talk Home Internet is an OK system at a reasonable price but you have to use an internet gateway that doesn't provide the usual features so figure on bypassing and adding a decent router. If you think you have ever experienced the worst customer service elsewhere try Straight Talk custom service. They lower the bar so far that it's buried in the ground. From an automated phone system that can't under stand what you say to the obstacle course of getting to a live person so english challenged that YOU can't understand. Took me 45 minutes and six calls to get to a live person. Can't get to a supervisor who might be at least competent so you will never get your problem resolved. read more

I have been paying for unlimited talk and text for several years and until last month your customer service reps have deactivated my phone number for abuse of service. I was told that I overuse my text and media messages. I have been using this number in the same capacity for several years. My phone was deactivated last month and no one clearly explained to me why and that it could be deactivated again. Every time I call I get transferred to multiple people until finally someone tells me they can't do anything with my account. If Straighttalk no longer wants my business at least give me the opportunity to transfer my cell number to another carrier. All of my accounts are attached to my number. read more

I had an absolutely horrible experience with Straight Talk customer service. I was trying to activate a new phone and spent 35 minutes on the phone with an agent I could barely understand. The representative's speech was largely unintelligible, which made an already frustrating situation significantly worse. After all that time, the call was disconnected with no callback and no resolution. I then spent another 15 minutes struggling through the automated system, which was somehow even more stressful than the customer service itself. The system asks you to verify your identity, provide IMEI numbers, receive verification codes, and confirm it is your phone number. Once you finally reach a human, they ask you the exact same questions all over again. It is redundant, inefficient, and infuriating. The second agent then tried to set me up with an account, something I can easily do online and specifically did not want to do over the phone. I was not comfortable giving security questions and personal information to someone I could barely understand, especially when that information could be used to take over my phone number. I have been using Straight Talk for far longer than I should have, and I have never been asked to do this before. What followed was a miserable back and forth where I repeatedly explained that I did not want to proceed that way, and the agent continued pushing it anyway. Yes, there was eventually a light at the end of the tunnel, but it came an hour and a half later. No customer should have to waste that much time just to activate a phone. When you call, the automated system will likely end your call a few times before you can successfully navigate your way through the maze to get a human on the phone. This shouldn't give you hope. The customer service agent won't speak clear English, will often read from a script and disregard your questions, will put you on long holds, and may eventually resort to "creating a ticket." Don't be fooled; this is not progress. This is code word for "call back in an hour, and pray the next agent can figure it out." When you call back, the new agent will have no record of your earlier conversations, so you will have to repeat and explain everything again from the start. Recently, when you called to listen to your voicemail messages, they made it so it tells you the phone number first, I don't need that I can't turn it off and it takes a lot of time when you have 12 voicemails. But what's more frustrating, when there's no voicemail message do, it saves it anyways and if you try to delete it says you pressed an incorrect button if you try too many times it'll say sorry you're having trouble and hangs up on you... So you have to listen to all (12) messages, let it save them, then go into saved messages and delete them one at a time. As soon as the midnight on the 25th your services is deactivated. And your due date keep changing when you reactivated your services. Other cell phone companies don't turn cell phone off on the day that it's due.. You'll have until 11:59pm to make a payment on your due date. I'd rate a zero if I could. Straight Talk put restrictions on my daughters account recently and tried tell me that it was due to fraudulent activity. Then another representative told me that it was because we didn't add a plan soon enough. Okay, that I'll admit to, but then when needing to get the restrictions removed, they have to transfer you to another department. Good luck if you're actually transferred to correct department. They told me that the only way to have the restrictions removed was to verify my account. I gave them my email and they said that it wasn't associated with the account and that there was an entirely different email address on file (ok what?!). Then they asked for my 4 digit pin, so I gave them the only two I would have used but that didn't work either. Apparently there is no other way to resolve the issue. So here I've spent money for 30 days of service that will not be provided. I asked for a refund, in which I was told that I'd be transferred to that Dept. and was promptly transferred back to customer service. I asked for a supervisor but of course they don't want to transfer you to one and they ask you to re-explain your situation for like the 25th time (no exaggeration)! Even their online chat customer service rep bailed on me. She said that they would have to have the dept. that handles the removal of restrictions call me. I then received a call marked from Verizon Wireless and there was no one on the other line. I told the chat rep this and she asked me to hold on, one more try.. then the chat was ended. unf*ckin believable. So I will be looking into other cell service providers for both my daughter and myself. I've been with ST for over 10 years and they've just lost my business. I wanted to switch from Verizon so I ordered a SIM card and was charged for it. When I went to switch it was an absolute nightmare and their customer service reps don't speak English very well. I got frustrated after trying to switch for 2 hours and sent the SIM card back and still have not received a refund. Straight Talk states they have no record of it and I need to dispute it with my bank. So even though Verizon is more expensive, it's not worth the hassle to switch to Straight Talk. I will dispute with my bank but they sure don't have an issue taking the money right away but getting it back, now that's something else. I am seriously annoyed because all I have requested was my last 3-year detailed phone call log. I have been calling them for the past 6.25 months. I have had rude customer service, especially in one of the latest calls. The gentleman asked me not to call back; otherwise, they must make another ticket. I had to wait for another three months after getting the first "Request ID" because they found out they had entered the wrong email for me. This is the kicker; after that happened, I wanted to make sure they had it correct so I asked for them to repeat back to me the email and there reply: "I cannot give you it because of confidentiality" I told them they are talking to the owner of the email, but would not EVER say back to me, my email address. Because the customer representative entered the wrong email, they told me I had to wait another three months and would escalate my ticket with another new "Request ID" Mind you, I have said to them almost on every occasion this is needed before I go to court. This did not faze them, but they stated it would go to the top of the priority list. There was a time they would not even give me the "Detail Phone Records" name of the department, which is another evasive tactic. The other thing is they keep sending a bunch of bull with excuses. The one famous one is: "Our IT department has been having issues", and another "Give us another week and we will give you a call, or "They had sent the phone logs records to your email, didn't you receive them?". The one that hurt was when the young man told me to work on it and not to call back because making another ticket would put me in the back of the line. It sure seems like there will NEVER be a record of my phone calls for the past three years. I have never heard of a phone company unwilling to give customers a detailed call list, especially under dire circumstances. The other real bummer is that I have been a loyal customer for over 7 years, and the past 2.5 years have been paying for two to three lines. I had to figure this out over two days. This pertains to a new iPhone 15. If your phone is carrier-locked, sim-locked, or shows SOS in the upper right, go to the Straight Talk website. Click on help and support on the upper right side, then click on the unlocking policy under quick links. Don't bother inputting your phone number or serial number. Call the customer support number, 1-888-442-5102. The first person you get will probably not speak good English and is clueless. I know they have a job to do and are doing their best but I am sitting here with a 700-dollar phone that will not work on the network. Tell them to transfer you to the technical department. Tell the person in the technical department that your eSim or sim card is locked. They will get you on the road to recovery. They got me up and running. Thank God. read more
