I was a little disappointed to pay $75.00 for roots and walk out with sopping wet hair. It was additional for the blow dry. Last time it was 35.00 extra for blow dry, I thought it was a mistake, but I liked my color and thought.. if I do the Yelp review like Yolanda requested and she even got two referrals, maybe next time she'll at least towel dry me. Guess not. Too pricey for me with just roots. Womp womp There's a small shop on Eldridge that charges $45.00, but she was on vacation. Think I'll stay put. Forgot to review but, I got my haircut by Helen and all I have to say is I LOVE IT!! my hair was very long, down to my butt, and she cut every section into layer like the reference pic I showed. Helen was so detailed and took her time even though my hair was very long. Their response time is amazing, to book an appointment is so easy, and I also brought a friend who said her hair stylist gave her tips on how to take care of her hair which is amazing. Made a same day appointment for my daughters through Yelp and they were able to get them in at the same time so we didn't have to wait longer for back to back appointments. Helen did such a great job on my daughters hair that I called a couple hours later and booked my own appointment for a cut the next day. Da wife needed dollin up fast! This was just the ticket. A last minute stop after getting into town late before the holiday. Nearly every salon in town was closed or closing for the July 4th holiday. We got in to Strands just in a nick of time for a last minute appointment. Even though we were late getting in, everyone was real nice. The gal working on my wife's hair had to stay past normal closing time to finish her up, but never complained. According to my wife the cost was reasonable-though, guess who pays? But end result: her hair looks great now, so everyone's happy. The location as a little out of our way, but was well worth the drive. read more

I went to this Salon for a hair cut and pedi. I chose this one because it's really close to where I live now and my former hairdresser is at the galleria area. Linda cut my hair and I love it! I forgot the name of the person who did my pedi, she's good too, and I feel special for her coming in just to do my pedi on a short notice hahaha. All in all it is a good experience for me. I walked in at 4.30pm on a Friday without an appointment. Shauna was just about to leave, but she stayed back to do my mani and pedi. She did a great job with my Pedi and was really nice throughout the session. Her foot massage was great and relaxing. The mani was good too... but I loved the pedi a lot more. read more

Sooooo... This was my first time in super duper long time to get my hair done by anyone I didn't know in the industry.. (I have been in the beauty industry for 10 years prior and still am a licensed stylist). I went off of Yelp to book my appointment at Strands.. I was a little nervous I will not lie... But the experience was very pleasant from the initial phone call to ask for a price quote and booking my appointment.. The receptionist was very sweet who made my appointment with Helen. Today was my appointment and I was greeted very promptly and was walked to the restroom where I asked to change into a smock. When I was seated about 10 mins the receptionist asked me if I needed a drink (she made me a coffee and even asked if I needed more cream or sugar). Helen my stylist today was very sweet and very professional. I am very happy with my hair style,cut and color/hi lights. I am pretty picky about my hair since I was in the industry for a long time. I definitely recommend Helen for your hair care services. She knows what she is doing for sure! Thanks again Helen and the sweet staff at Strands for making my 1st visit so pleasant. read more

I booked the appointment because of Helen. It had been 4 months prior since I had my last haircut. I cannot get anyone else to cut my bangs besides Helen! Although the price is a little pricey compared to what I'm used to (about a 20$ difference), the professionalism, location, and receptionist was up to par with the price. My appt was at 3, but I came 6 mins late. I was seated to wash my hair right away! The place is very clean. I'm glad to say that I will very much be coming back for Helen! She's very nice and understanding. She speaks English, Vietnamese, and Chinese (not sure which Chinese). She communicates well with customers, and will make you feel at eased. :) read more

Had not had my hair cut in about 8 months, was looking for someone I could trust. Read the reviews of this salon so I thought I would give it a try. Called and was able to make the appointment for the same day. Yolanda was my stylist and she really did a wonderful job on my hair. I had to cut about 4-5 inches off so I was a little apprehensive, but she did great. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for and it came out better than the picture, I love it! She was very knowledgeable and gave me great tips on my hair type and what I could do to make it healthier. The staff was all so sweet and the salon was very clean. I came to the Houston area to spend Thanksgiving with my brother. I'm from Louisiana and my hair stylist of 12 years is on medical leave. We researched hair salons in the area and Strands ratings impressed us the most. I chose Helen and she did a fabulous job. She colored, cut and styled my hair. I'm 63 and it was the best experience I've ever had. I'm picky about color. She asked a lot of questions and I've had so many compliments since I returned home. Wish I lived closer. First and last time. Emailed first to see if they did lowlights because I want to grow out my gray. They said sure we do that. Helen didn't know what a lowlight was. She cut my hair dry. Never had that done. It was so uneven in the back. I had to go somewhere else. Didn't and don't now like the color of my hair. It's been about 5 weeks. They sell alcohol and I don't think they have a licensed to do so. Will report. read more

I I decided I finally wanted to quit coloring my hair and just go gray, but thought I needed a transition color to blend in with my blonde highlights. I went to Strands for the first time today and talked to Yolanda. Instead of trying to talk me into an expensive color treatment for my hair, she said NO...it could damage my hair and would cost a lot. She said I just needed a good cut to start transitioning the gray. She then did an expert, beautiful cut and I love it! I'm so impressed and thrilled! I'm coming back here forever! read more

Yolanda has been my hairstylist for several years now. Recently, she colored my hair for the first time. (It took 6 years for me to finally let her color it!) I'm usually apprehensive in letting anyone touch coloring my hair because it is a unique color and I don't want it to look strange). As it turns out, she is the best, most skilled colorist I've ever met! She did an awesome job. I trust her completely now with not only my cut, but color too.
