Went to the one in Fredericksburg on the way home from a conference and was impressed. I did not count but probably had close to 45 beers on tap that were easily categorized (Light, Sours, Sweet, Hoppy, Dark and Funky). The beers were well made, I did not try any IPA's, however did get a mix of lights, gose's and dark. I did not love every beer, however, you could tell they were still high quality. I do not rate breweries based upon their food offering (pizza was pretty bad) but they do have food on premise regardless if a food truck is present. The facility itself is large and they have a stage presumably for music at night. Plenty of seating, indoor and outdoors, was available. For sure will be back with the family. read more

I visited the fxburg location while on a work trip. I didn't know the location recently opened recently, I believe around summer time. I've always been a very big fan of the Richmond location. I love "different" beers and Strangeways always deliver when I want to feel adventurous with my tastebud. Curiosities, my favorite. If you don't know what I meant, I suggest heading over to their website. The decor is very eclectic and spacious. They had a variety of beers that mirrors the original location and options that were exclusive to the Fxburg location. The employees that I spoke with seemed knowledgeable, they were all proactive. After my shift, I went for a small pour of Lucky Charms. Take a sip and the first initial taste and thoughts are something nutty and smooth. Once you swallow and get the aftertaste, that's the best part. The taste literally lingers in my mouth of lucky charms marshmallows. Overall, it was a great visit. If I ever find my way back out there, I will be sure to visit again. read more

Stopped in for a beer only to discover there's no heat in this establishment. As a matter of fact, it felt warmer outside and it's 27 degrees outside. I can't understand why they would remain open with patrons and employees freezing. I walked out. What a friggin' joke. read more

Great place to go and hang out! The beer and staff are pretty cool as well and they always have something going on there for entertainment! I will say though, recently they got new dart boards which are great, but the cornhole sets and bags are in pretty bad shape and they are falling apart. I like it here. It's just a fun place with a huge selection of beers. Bartenders are usually really friendly and good. The young lady today was inattentive and seemed harried even though there was no one there. Had to go looking for her to get another beer. The service at a brewery should be friendly and informative. Great brewery to try unique beers! This brewery is very creative with their beers because they add flavors to the more typical beers that you would find at other breweries. The first time I came here I got a flight because they had so many different flavors that I wanted to try. Personally the favorites that I had were the gelati celesti chocolate stout and the lucky charms. The space: They have very funky decor which fits their eclectic mix of beers. They also have plenty of space indoors which would be good for groups. In addition, they have outdoor seating with an outdoor bar (so you don't even have to go inside). read more

This brewery had some many good beers to choose from I had to get the wheel. My boyfriend and I sampled ten different beers. I would highly recommend this brewery if you like to try new things. The decor is great and can't say enough about the service. Go enjoy and have fun. read more

They have a very large beer selection, but a lot of them are sours so you need to like that style. Large inside seating area, along with an outside area with cot hole boards. My only complaint, partially fault of my own, the menu is a little decisive when it comes to getting a flight. If you don't get their 6 set beers to sample, and decide to chose your own, they charge you $3-4 per sample. This was not explained to us, so I feel like the bartenders need to be more informative. Love this brewery! You are allowed to bring your dog, but you've got to stay outside. They have a bar inside and outside. Outside area is very spacious and includes tables, corn hole, frisbee golf and ample parking. Inside has a few pinball machines and darts. Lots of delicious beers to choose from! You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages here. Sometimes they have food trucks- check their website. There are usually groups of families with kids hanging out here. Fun events like brewery yoga and live music. read more

Love the beer here! Also love the scene--we have been here several times (pre-Covid) and it is super open inside and kid friendly. Recently we had the Murder Hornet NE IPA and Covid Sucks and they are SO delish! The outdoor area is awesome as well. Another thing I love is that you can have food delivered here! Yuck? I'm not sure how to qualify this place. It's a pretty decent location with lots of space. The brewery itself is pretty cool. But, I gotta say, the beers are not good. I only had five of the 30+ beers but not one of them was a reasonably good beer. They had 30+ beers and not one stout, for one. They had almost ten gose beers - and they were just sloppy. I would just say I thought their beers were kitschy, at best. "Strange" is an appropriate term but beer doesn't need to be strange. Overall, I'd just say it's gross. The fact they moved to Fredericksburg had to be due to the fact that Stone moved to Richmond. Don't go here. Go to the Red Dragon or even Steven Whatever...(Devon?). Blech. read more

My wife and I visited the Fredericksburg area over the weekend and stopped in at Strangeways. They had a wonderful German style beer selection which wasn't over dominated by IPA's. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area again! read more

Beautiful building, nice bar and very clean! We had the $13 sampler flight and only liked the Phantasmic one. I had the Lucky Charms which is advertised sweet which it may start off a little sweet but then the sourness of the Uberlin beer comes through. The manager, everyone called MJ, was extremely rude to my party. She literally complained to my sister-in-law, who was in our party, about my wife. MJ said all the other bartenders complain when my wife comes in. We're mug club members and spend plenty of money here on a monthly basis. This MJ is not manager material and should not be a representative of a company. It's frustrating and at the same time amazing, that this person is actually managing anything! No wonder everyone I talk to has nothing good to say about about this place. Oh...and their beer is pretty bad. I've been to at least 30 breweries in the country and this is in the bottom three. The only reason we came here is for events...which can be fun at times. Not coming here again. Don't care if we're wasting over a year of mug club membership. Highmark Brewery, or any other Fredericksburg Virginia brewery is so much better...excluding Adventure. read more

When you first arrive it looks like an old warehouse...Just like a micro-brewery should look....and it IS an old warehouse distribution center. They have about 72 beers on tap and so many seasonal options. I recommend doing a flight and trying some first (10 at a time = 50 oz.) that interest you and then going from there. They have quite a few different styles....dark, light, hoppy, fruity. Give this place a try and check it their page and events that they're having. The one in Richmond is awesome and this one will be eventually on the same page. Keep coming and giving them support and it will be one of the best Breweries I've been too. read more

The beer names are on point. Razzle Dazzle and Apes in the Hammock were by far my favorite. They have a good mix of IPAs, sweet, sour, and your normal type beers. Very large place with great outdoor space. Could easily spend a good while here. Not completely sure about the food situation. There are some snack you can buy and there was a food truck as well. Will definitely be back if I can stand the 95 corridor. read more

WTH! Been here numerous times. This evening 04/21/2018 700 pm sitting at bar with a couple flights, it's what we do here. Great beer, great times and usually great service. Right now 5 minutes ago we asked for refills on our waters, you know clean the pallet between 5.5 oz tastes. Made request, bartender said "there is a water fountain around the corner, cups there too." Yo dude, the cups are in front of us, our water has been graciously filled all night, you're not even busy - WTH? What a sad commentary on what normally is a decent time. read more

This place is awesome for a Craft Beer Drinker. They have many different varieties of strange or unique brewed beers. It is an open environment with a huge bar and a game section! I like that they had snacks that you can choose from and enjoy with the flights of beer that you you can customize. We talked with our bartender about the private room and it sounds like a great deal for anybody that has a party and would like to enjoy some craft beer. read more

Very nice branding and the space is interesting. Unfortunately the beer was not good. I tried 7 of them (as expensive tasters) and I didn't want to continue drinking any of them. Most were thin and had stale lingering off flavors. The IPA was almost drinkable, but had a candy sweetness that was off-putting. Disappointing indeed. After viewing all the hype and branding online - AND the many blue signs guiding you to the tasting room from miles away - its an easy decision to spend my beer $$ elsewhere. Less time hyping and brewing 30 bad beers, please. More time crafting a few really good ones. A quality control expert would go a long way. Such a shame given the massive investment. Literally stumbled upon them when taking a strange route to avoid some traffic on 95, so finding a place named strangeways while on our own strangeway...we had to stop in! Huge selection of beers and great staff that was able to recommend the perfect beer for my taste buds. So happy we stopped in! read more

We rented out their private tasting room for a birthday, and it was awesome! The price was reasonable, the manager was great at working with us, and all our guests had a great experience. We would definitely book again. The beers they had on draft were phenomenal too. read more

We love this brewery. We're planning to bring our family when they are in town because they have a beer for every pallette. The decor and ambience are "strange" as the name implies, and the space is very roomy with lots of seating. Food trucks are there on the weekend and there are snacks on the bar for your kids if they're hungry, which of course they will be- mine always are. Give Strangeways a try, you won't be disappointed! They're bringing the Fredericksburg brewery scene up a notch! read more

Been to Strangeways twice and enjoy the place alot. The servers are very friendly and there is plenty of room and seating. The beers are above average and I haven't tried a beer I haven't liked yet. All decent brews. I tried the darker beers not any of the lighter stuff. The only reason they get three stars is they are overpriced. I bought two growlers (growlers were "free" for the month of Aug just pay for the beer) and it was $46.33. There are too many more reasonably priced breweries in the area. Good place just too expensive. And their growlers are the cheapy kind not great for keeping beer. read more

I attended a workplace mixer at the brewery last evening. I know this is a brewery, but I was disappointed that the only drink options for people who do not drink beer are Diet Coke (which I hate), flat rootbeer out of a 2 liter bottle, or a cup of water out of the water fountain. What about having some real soda options and bottled water for those of us who cannot drink beer and/or have agreed to be the designated drivers? read more
