We moved from Los Angeles to Monterey. Our house sold so quickly we had them store everything until the new house was ready. They carefully packed and inventoried everything. All the packing materials were recycleable. Unpacking was a pleasure because it was packed in such a way that it was easy to unpack. They help us unpack and set up the bed and other furniture. Especially nice was that the same crew that packed us in LA also unpacked us in Monterey! Nothing was broken. I wasn't there when they picked up the items I put into storage, but I did note that dealing with any of the team via email and any electronic communications was easy/pleasant. This year, Stratton delivered my items from storage, I was pleasantly surprised at the professionalism of the moving crew. (I expect movers to be rather gruff, underpaid/overworked and rushed). The crew from Stratton were long-time employees, happy and methodical. They were knowledgeable about how to move my treadmill desk (heavy and not straightforward), and a bunch of other things. This review is long overdue as I've used Stratton and Sons family run company at least 4 times now over the course of 20+ years along with my sister and friends. Originally my best friend and her family had worked with the current owner, Erik's father for many years and they came highly recommended. In 2022, I made the decision to store my furniture at their warehouse in crates. I guarantee you will not find a more professional, honest, efficient and reliable company. I've worked with Erik on at least 3 of my moves. I had been paying another storage facility for six years and the prices just kept going up multiple times a year and sadly even during covid. Erik guaranteed me that IF a time came and the price was raised for storage, it would not be more than a few dollars. He kept his word. Three years later, first time I had an increase and it went up $5. I refer them to everyone personally, on Facebook and in all my mommy group chats. Moving is hard and stressful but truly to not have worry about being taken advantage of is worth more than anything! I highly recommend Stratton and Sons moving! The moving crew was amazing, they moved my father's belongings out of an assisted living facility, which takes a specially trained mover to be able to do. I forget the gentlemen's names, but they were so so wonderful on move-out day, they handled everything with immense professionalism, and care. They can move anything and will store items in their facility and provide you with a detailed inventory which you can view online. They work well together like a programmed machine, each man knows his job and gets it done quickly and efficiently. I have been a client of Stratton & Sons for over 20 years. Exclusively taking care of my moving and storage needs, both personal and business needs. Unfortunately, since the company is being run by the grandchildren of the original owner, their business practices (i.e., rates) have sky rocketed. I received a letter from Tyler (the new director of operations) saying that my storage fees will increase over 100% in 60 days. No exceptions or considerations. I understand cost of operations do increase over time, as the cost of living does as well, however, since they decided to acquire a brand new and larger facility, we the customers are paying the ultimate cost by PAYING FOR IT. I would have been able to process such an increase over time. But without warning, it blindsided me. Paul Jr was always so gracious to me and my business partner over the years. I always felt like family from staff and such. He offered me discounted rates for storage because he valued me as a customer. Now, I feel like a means to an end. For "their" business success. So, until I can do better, I'm forced to pay. And to make matters more difficult, after the pandemic, my work is barely recovering. These folks have been great. Their bid for moving was lower than competitors, as well as their storage fees. They have a very accurate computerized system so that nothing is lost and items in storage are easily accessible. We have moved some things out of storage and found them to be securely and safely wrapped, so no danger of nicks or damage. They are also quick to respond to questions and return calls.
