What a shame a few idiots have given this gym 1 star. First let me start by saying that I would not give Straubs Fitness 5 stars. My experience has been 4 stars at best, but I feel obligated to offset the ridiculous reviews made by people with an apparent lack of reading and/or money management skills. Unfortunately for small businesses, Yelp is, for some strange reason, accepted as a reliable gauge of the quality of a business. If I could write a review about Yelp itself, I would focus on the fact that negative reviews written by people simply bashing a business for a mistake they themselves made are published. Now for my review, which Yelp will likely take down. I have been a member of Straubs Fitness for more than 2 years. Joe was very informative and courteous when he took me through the Goshen Sports Complex location. I chose to join because of the close location (I now live in Middletown). Before I signed my contract, Joe explained the membership rates to me and made it very clear to me that in order to cancel my annual billing, I must first fulfill a 12 month billing cycle and then provide 30 days written notice. This information was also plainly visible on the contract, so apparently the reviewers complaining about this forgot to read what they were signing. Do I think it's sneaky? Yes. Do I think it means the place is horrible? No. As for my experience inside the gym, the equipment is less than 3 years old and the atmosphere is very fitness oriented. There is an adequate selection of cardio equipment and resistance machines for the fitness-centered people. There is also a great area separate from the cardio for the bodybuilder/heavy lifter types or those more serious about weight lifting. I spend most of my time there and would recommend it to anyone looking to lift. For my rate of 29.95 per month, I am suprised at how many amenities are included even though I don't use them. Classes, child care and tanning are examples of these amenities. I also get impressive guest privileges, so I can bring a friend 12 times. I would expect that many other gyms offer these features for an additional fee. All in all my experience so far has been positive. Friendly staff greet me by name and address my complaints or questions promptly. Straubs Fitness is a good place to work out and I hope people searching for this place on Yelp will take the time to read this, as it would be shame for someone to be put off by the ramblings of a few people who could not handle the contract. read more

From the moment you walk into Straub's Gym, you realize that this is not your average gym. Joe and Trish Straub run an awesome gym! I have been attending this gym for a couple of years, and the family friendly environment is the best! I attend classes run by both of them, and they are amazing at what they do! Trish's Tabata class is not for the faintest of hearts, but it's an amazing overall workout! She is the best as an instructor and as a person! I look forward to each class, and hate to ever miss a class. Joe's spin class is one I participate with as well, and it's the best form of cardio I do. His energy is upbeat and motivating, and he's a clown at heart. My three kids come along with me, and the kids room is amazing. All the girls there are sweet, and my kids really look forward to going. This is definitely useful for a mom trying to be apart of a gym worry free! The front desk is no different. From the moment you walk in you are always greeted, and Jane always calls everyone by name which is a nice touch! How can I not give a shout out to Buddy! Definitely a highlight my kids look forward to when they come with me! All of these aspects add to the family feel. At this point they are more like family than just owners of a gym we attend. You can't get that in most places, and I wouldn't trade that for anything. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone! read more

Hey what can I say other then this is the health facility to fit all your requirements! If you want fancy, yes, go elsewhere or move to NYC or Westchester! I have been a member for approaching 3 years and I am more then satisfied. Straub's fitness offers the basics and, seriously, you don't need anything more! I attend the spin classes twice a week...motivating, energizing! Sure, admit tingly most times I try to talk my self from attending, but with every exercise regime, it has become habitual and without regret! You will find every level of fitness goals within Straub's! Preceding a cardio, I will lift weights or play with the numerous resistance/weight bearing machines always within my own pace. Friends and neighbors have consistently questioned my choice of Straub's over closer facilities, (yes, I travel a good 20-25 min)...(and was previously a 10+ year Middletown "Y" member.) simply.... the price is perfect and the people are amazing! (I oppose previous reviews, the owners are friendly, very helpful and committed, and the many satisfied members are devoted, fun, and basically terrific people!) Ok, I did not join to make any new best friends, but surprisingly, I have met some terrific people! Very satisfied with Straub's Fitness. read more

I joined Straub's about a month ago after moving to this town and cancelling my membership at a well-known franchise which had all the amenities. So far, I think Straub's is much better than what I had experienced at other gyms in the past. Keep in mind, this is the 6th gym I've gone to in 40 years (I'm 61). I am an athletic person for life. I have found Straub's Fitness to be one of the cleanest, friendliest, use-friendly gyms in the area. The equipment is all new, unlike other gyms that have 'out-of-order' signs on various pieces of equipment. This is not a ghetto gym. Every morning at 5am, the place is clean and weights are put away, unlike the famous gym I had gone to the last 5 years where they ignored our requests for help in putting heavy weights away. Straub's is much better than every gym I've been to. The staff is very courteous, and I feel at home here. I haven't taken any classes yet, but I will. The parking lot is huge, I never have a problem. This is a very nice gym, take it from an experienced gym user. read more

Straub's Fitness is basically my second home. It's a family style gym where I always feel welcome. When I first joined the gym seven years ago I was impressed with how welcomed Trish, Joe and everyone at the front desk made me feel. Coming from the city it's not often people would greed you by your first name and a smile. I feel very happy with the services I receive here on a daily basics. That's why I am so surprised with the review by this Jake H. person who basically gave a review that doesn't even reflect the business. Instead, this person gives a very inappropriate and subjective review of the physical appearance of "Trish and the music". It's sounded so pathetic I actually laughed as I read the awful things this person wrote. What a jerk that Jake is!! I thank God I found people that help me be healthy and a place filled with nothing but awesome people that care about my wellbeing! read more

This gym is great! Friendly staff and owners willing to help and instruct. If they saw me doing something wrong, they would show me the proper form or suggest an alternative exercise. The TRX classes were a great workout. Trish was always striving to change things up so each class was different. She got me on the right track to a healthier life. I recently moved away from the area. The owners threw me a little party and gave me some gifts including TRX straps (and I had only been a member for less than 2 years). Canceling my membership was not a problem. Another review mentioned that the gym is in a warehouse; it's actually in a Sports Complex, which also houses tennis courts and an indoor soccer/lacrosse field. Pretty cool, I think. I've either been a member or tried out literally every gym in Orange County. After having a baby, I had to look at places with a child care and make sure that was my first consideration. There's no gym like Straubs. The owners personally run classes and they're always around. Trish is awesome, her tabata class is a must try, and she is always so personable. There is no intimidation, you can go lift in the back room or do cardio in the front and it feels exactly how a gym should feel. All members are friendly and welcoming. A place to be comfortable while reaching your fitness goals. The childcare is unmatched and there's no question if your child is being taken good care of. I can drop my daughter off and not worry. Straubs gave me my sanity back and it will always be my gym. read more

Straubs Fitness is my place to go to workout, de-stress, and enjoy the company of the wonderful people who are members there. I joined Straubs while trying to improve on my running and tackle my first marathon! Trish Straub helped me to achieve my goal through personal training, encouraging classes like TRX, tabata, and cycle, providing tips for diet, and emotional support through positive affirmations. These steps proved to be life changing for me, and are now part of my daily routine! Superb local gym with all the equipment and classes needed to get in shape and stay in shape. Great free weights, high quality weight machines, treadmills, ellipticals, rowers, stair machines, etc. Daycare and showers for busy people. I've been going to Straub's gym since 2011. Besides the large amount and types of weight and aerobic equipment, they offer a bunch of free classes. My wife and I have made many great friends with other members and we look forward to going there to work out. The gym is clean, the other members are friendly, and the price is right! read more
