I am also so happy that Wheeler park welcomes everyone from all over NJ (and elsewhere). Coming from out of the county will cost you a bit more, but not much. If you live outside of Union County it is $4.00 for kids ($2.00 in county) and $6.00 for adults ($3.00 in county). This splash pad has every water feature a kid could ever need - from bigger twisty water slides, to a small dragon water slide. Also, water guns that you can shoot each other with, a pirate boat, water shooting up from the ground, and much more. My kids spent a little over 2 hours here and had an absolute blast. We've been here about 3 times and it never disappoints. Just be sure to bring some sort of shade covering. There isn't much cover at the splash pad so we usually bring our small beach tent with us. There is also a dry playground in the splash pad gated area where kids can play too. They have staff who help keep the kids safe and to make sure everyone goes down the water slides safe and sound. I highly recommend Wheeler Spray Park on a hot summer day.

Good vibes . The only downside for me is the amount of bugs ..arghhh , I understand we're outdoors but Jesus you better have tons of bug spray . While it's a nice enough spot and the setting is scenic, the pictures floating around don't quite tell the full story. Yes, it's spring-fed and chemical-free, which gives it more of a forest pond feel than a traditional pool. That might be a plus for some people, but there are downsides. The water feels heavier than a normal pool, and there's no true shallow end--so treading water for long stretches can get tiring. If you go, I'd honestly recommend bringing a float to hang out more comfortably in the water. The facilities are basic. There are very few pool chairs--mostly just park benches scattered around a small paved deck. Seating is limited, and it was hard to find a place to set up. I'd recommend bringing your own beach chair if you have one. There are plenty of picnic tables farther back from the pool, which I assume is their way of keeping food out of the swim area. We arrived around 3 PM and that timing was probably my biggest gripe. The parking lot was full, so we had to find a random lot down the road and then walk back and hunt for the entrance. Not the easiest arrival. The $20 day pass would be fine if the setup matched the price, but for what it is, it felt a little steep. Also worth noting--cell service is spotty, and while they say there's Wi-Fi, it didn't work well for us. Overall, it's not a bad experience, but it didn't quite live up to the online buzz. If you go in with the right expectations (and a float, a chair, and some patience), you'll probably enjoy it more than we did.

Because of my original comment (below), Straubs employee/owner Trish went out of her way to tell me…read morehow she felt about my comment. In the first message she told me to get a life with a subject title "Asshole". Since I didn't see and respond to that one, she sent me a second message simply reminding me that I am an asshole. Yelp gives individuals the opportunity to voice their opinions and review places based on how they honestly feel about the specific establishment. That is what I did for Straubs. Except now I am getting high school hate messages from a grown woman. Completely unprofessional. Original message I wish I didn't have to give them any stars, but unfortunately yelp won't let me. They kept charging my card after my year membership was over and gave me no notification. They have tricky rules on how to get out of a membership, and the owners are very rude. I have talked to numerous people, and everyone of them have had this problem. It is not worth it. Find a gym with better service, nicer equipment, and less financial burden.

Update: Like other former members, I was contacted on Yelp by Trish Straub -- the owner of Straub…read moreFitness -- shortly after I posted my review of her "gym" and the shady and unethical practices by which they try to extort money out of their former members once they've ceased their membership. First she left me a message calling me an "Asshole." I didn't respond, so three weeks later she followed up with a second message calling me an "Asshole" several more times, in addition to calling me "fat and lazy." Really? Here is her unedited message to me (I am also posting screenshots): "Does tellin-it s stand for tellin shit? I'm not afraid to use my name...Trish Straub. Get your facts straight before you post things you know nothing about. We don't have any equipment from the 70's or 80's with the exception of the strength equipment you used with Paul that members would greatly miss if we ever replaced it. It's not our fault that you did not listen to the membership director who sold you your membership nor did you read the contract that states the terms and conditions of a membership at Straub's Fitness. Sounds like you're blaming us for your lack of use...probably fat and lazy. Get a life asshole." ------------------- Original Review: ------------------- Was unfortunately a member of this "club" for roughly a year until I had to move out of the area. It's in a section of a warehouse and contains a handful of dated cardiovascular machines and even older free weight and cable machines. It's kind of a hodgepodge of equipment from the 70s, 80s and early 90s. You also have to physically leave the gym to go to bathroom near the tennis courts. I never really saw a maintenance or sanitation worker, but hey, I didn't care because I knew my situation was temporary. But then when I had to leave town and cancel my membership, the owner refused to stop charging my credit card, so I canceled it. They then stuck creditors on me. Real classy. Too bad none of the money they squeeze out of people gets reinvested in the place. I would not recommend this place. They used to have two other locations but those went belly up (probably because they treated their customers the same way at those "Clubs")
