I decided to stop by the strawberry hut for a Cuban and a milkshake after hearing some positive word of mouth suggestions. The best part of the visit was how kind the staff was. That's about where the good stuff ended. It was peak lunch time and the restaurant was empty. Despite having a drive thru is was completely boarded up. Online ordering is suggested online but there's no place to place an order. The banana shake I had had an alright taste but the banana bits had a weird texture that made me question if it was fresh or not. The 8 inch Cuban I had I asked to be double pressed. I like it that way so that the Cuban is hot all the way through. That being said the Cuban was barely hot and the inside cool. Almost like a cold cut sandwich. There are other places in Lakeland I would point people to for a classic hot Cuban. read more

Service was good, but the "Cuban sandwiches" did not inpress me an it was misleading. They had items such as a "Philly Cuban" and a "Turkey Cuban" when they should be a Cheesesteak and whichever sandwich; these "Cubans" also had option of lettuce, tomato, etc. A Cuban sandwich has specific ingredients: ham, pork, mayo, mustard, Swiss cheese and pickles; don't recall seeing that specific option. And it's typically hot pressed, which these sandwiches barely were. Advertise it as a sandwich or sub, but not a Cuban, because any Cuban sees that and would be very disappointed. The Spanish bean soup and the shakes were delicious, I'll give them that. The inside was very clean and quiet. The building is pretty old and the A/C was not working, but it still was cool enough with the fans. read more

While searching for a good salad near my hotel strawberry hut came up a few times. The service was subpar. When I walked in I was not greeted. The cashier just looked at me. I said hello to her and she just stared. I said hello again and she finally spoke. I really wanted to leave but I was starving and ready to get to my hotel. I ordered the 4 inch turkey Cuban and a Greek salad. She asked if I wanted my sandwich "all the way" but didn't tell me what that meant. I took a chance and just says yes. Later found out that means: mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and cheese. There food was ready fast and I headed straight to my room. The sandwich is pressed like a panini and the bread was soft on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside. There was more bread than toppings but still good. The salad was delicious! I wish they would use red onion instead of white but that's just a personal preference. The food is 4 stars but the service is 1star! I won't be back. read more

Would have given a 5-star rating based on value, food quality, food taste, and friendliness of staff, but the building and dining area were run down (and a/c was broken.) I had a 4" pressed pork Cuban sandwich for $4.00 (there are also larger sizes available, but this was the smallest and the perfect size for me for lunch.) It was warm, tasty, just the right size st an excellent price. I am a lover of strawberry shortcake dessert and when I saw this on the menu, I couldn't resist (especially for $4.00! Excellent authentic Tampa Ybor City Cubans, and I know. Three sizes. Fairly priced. Nice addition to Lakeland sandwich scene. Though high-traffic area makes it tricky to get in and out so plan carefully if traveling by car. read more

The wife and i are here right now . It looks of the dinning room is kind of dingy and we got sweet and unsweet tea and it looks and tast like water and sugar water. It took a few minutes for the ssandwiches but the food was ok. read more

Just yummy sandwiches and salads for a great price. We wanted just something small and decided to run in here. They have "Cuban" sandwiches which just mean your average sandwiches on Cuban bread and toasted nicely. For less than $6 we got a "4 inch sub (which seemed way bigger), chips and a drink. Two of us got salads which were loaded with things for less than $7. We also decided to get some treats since they had milkshakes and hurricanes. Everything was delicious! The breakfast items looked yummy too. The ladies working were super friendly and helpful (like making sure we ordered the way we really wanted and double asking). However it is worth a trip just for the strawberry shake. The hours are a bit strange. There have been several times when I have drove by and they were not open. I finally have experienced my first Cuban! I'm a fan. The decor of this place is super low key, but it seemed to be clean. The menu is basic but there wasn't a thing on there that I didn't think looked great! In our party, one ordered a hamburger Cuban and another ordered a peanut butter cup hurricane. I still give this location one-star less than the location in Plant City. However the staff have improved. Their sweet tea is right on point. And their sandwiches as far as humans are concerned .and the absolute gold bread is pressed supremely the flavoring wonderfully came around and became the Plant City Spot which we now luckily have in Lakeland. The food is delicious made fresh none of the food is sitting there waiting for you it's made fresh hot and delicious on top of that known that they have the best Cubans they have great salads wonderful soup and their hurricane shake is to die for while dining here they actually came out with samples of their shakes and I thought that was so unique and different allowing you to try it before you buy it I definitely will be back here for another hurricane shake they also now have their breakfast buffet like they have a plant city so that is something I will want to try next read more

This is not because of the food. My husband and I love the food at this place especially the Philly Cuban and the original Cuban. However, you should be warned when I went to buy sandwiches today I had to cancel my order because I watched two of the girls making the sandwiches have their masks pulled down below their chin, bent over breathing on my sandwiches. Seems the specialty here are Cuban sandwiches and its variations such as pork, turkey, ham & cheese, etc. on soft Cuban bread. The regular Cuban is basically a ham sandwich, no pork roast. Great strawberry shake with lots of strawberry pieces. The ambiance was that of a re-adapted old fast food place soooo not good but plenty of seating and lots of customers were doing carry out. You place and pick up your order at the counter. Overheard a customer ask mgr why no napkins were available (none in sight, you have to ask for them at the counter) and she answered "because people around here like to steal and stuff their purses with them". First time going here and after reading all the review I was excited because I come from the midwest and Cuban Sandwiches are few and in between. Disappointed oh so disappointed. They gave me someone sandwich that was sitting around and the chance to get rid of it just happened to come up when I order over the phone. I order it a certain way and it was so different. One of the things that made it worse was the fact, you could obviously see that the sandwich had lettuce before, why you ask, because there were remnants of salad and the edges were wet and what does lettuces do to bread. I called to complain all though they were apologetic, I was offered 10 percent of my next sandwich. Really 85 cents of my next sandwich, and I tipped them that was beautiful just beautiful. I won't be going back and for those who do check your food before you leave. Email the company and they did not bother to get in touch with me. But once they read it here I am probalay sure the will.
