We worked primarily with Jo; she is the kindest, most caring, most patient professional to work with. We consider ourselves very lucky to have been in her care. Looking back, I wish I had not felt so anxious and worried about the process, yet, Jo respected my initial hesitations and waited for me to be ready. We went over all the information so many times and she was so supportive and gentle. I really miss our visits and wish she were someone we had to see more often! For parents who are scared, hesitant, nervous, think their baby will be absolutely miserable, this is for you - We display my daughter's helmet in her room and she is always reaching for it and wanting to put it back on her head - go figure! I'm convinced that she associates the helmet with comfort and all the positive experiences she had with Jo along the way. It is not as bad as you anticipate especially when you have this kind of support along the way. The fitting was smooth, and Jo ensured our baby was comfortable every step of the way. We also appreciated the regular check-ins and adjustments to make sure everything was progressing perfectly. Jo accommodated us with our tricky schedule and made everything so easy. Even when we visited family for a few weeks across the country, Jo was in touch, even did some research for us in case something needed adjusting and assured us that we could enjoy a vacation and still have the treatment consistent. My flat feet were barely usable, and I had not been free of pain for months. After trying orthotics/supports from Fleet feet, Dr. Scholl's, and those from various pharmacies, I realized that I had an increase in my spending without a decrease in my pain. Then I remembered a commercial about The Good Feet store. I thought it was all hype. Now, with even more pain, less mobility and less money, I figured I had nothing to lose so I gave it a shot. Before writing this, I'd Just gotten home back from a 10 mile bike ride. That's the day after a killer gym workout four days in a row. I HAVE MY LIFE BACK THANKS TO MONIQUE AND THE GOOD FEET STORE! She and her Manager took so much time with me that I started to feel guilty. I got the proper sizing; tried on various types; and was made aware of the reasoning behind the options I was given. No, I was not thinking it would be cheap and in hindsight every dollar spent was well worth it -- I'd do it again. You're supposed to break the orthotics in gradually, day-by -day. Since I am who I am, I didn't listen. They felt so good and instantly brought so much relief that I didn't wanna take them off. That was a huge mistake. I walked right back into the store in a different kind of pain. That's when I met Monique. She took the time to re-explain what had already been explained. Only to find out they cancelled the appointment without telling me. Very unprofessional and poor communication! No accountability for canceling appointment! Lied about calling and leaving a voicemail! The custom inserts/orthotics will not arrive until April 17. Yet they kept me on the schedule and kept sending me text messages confirming no changes to the appointment the night prior. The lady behind the window was rude, unapologetic and didn't take accountability for wasted time and efforts. She insisted they called and left a message 2 days before the appointment. I verified they had the correct cell number, but my cell has zero missed call from Hanger Clinic and no voicemail. The lady in charge of appointment scheduling and Dan (supervisor) didn't apologize and pointed and blamed others....They both displayed a lack of respect, empathy and subpar management skills.

We discussed my treatment needs, and I agreed to have foot x-rays taken in order to obtain custom orthotic inserts. Before proceeding, I specifically confirmed that both the x-rays and the night splint I received would be fully covered by my insurance. I was assured there would be no out-of-pocket cost for those items. I was later informed that the orthotic inserts were not covered by insurance, so I paid $500 out of pocket because I was in significant pain and seeking relief. When the inserts were ready, the office attempted to schedule a follow-up appointment for pickup. I explained that an appointment was unnecessary and that I would simply stop by to collect them, which is exactly what I did. Two months later, I received a bill for the x-rays and night splint -- the same services I had previously been told were fully covered. I was also billed for a "visit" related to picking up the inserts. That "visit" consisted of me walking into the office, paying my balance, and leaving with the inserts. I never saw a doctor or nurse, never left the waiting room, and the entire interaction lasted only a few minutes. I contacted the office to dispute the charges. While they agreed to waive the fee for the pickup "visit," they refused to remove the charges for the x-rays and splint despite the information I had originally been given. I also expressed concern that billing for a medical visit that never actually occurred could constitute fraudulent billing and stated that I intended to report the matter to the medical board. The representative I spoke with responded dismissively and told me to "go ahead." Afterward, I contacted my insurance provider directly. They confirmed that they would be recouping payment for the improperly billed visit and that I did not owe any balance for the x-rays or splint. They also informed me that the orthotic inserts likely would have been covered had the office properly submitted the claim. Furthermore, submitting claims to insurance is part of the provider's contractual obligation. Instead, I was required to pay $500 out of pocket for something that should have at least been processed through insurance and applied toward my deductible. Patients should be able to trust that a medical office is providing honest, transparent information regarding billing and insurance coverage. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I believe patients deserve to be aware of these practices before seeking care from this office.

After spending about 3 minutes with Dr. Wilkes at my initial consultation I was told that I needed…read morea joint replacement in my right foot. I was trusting and agreed to the surgery. Two days before the surgery I received a message that a script for pain meds and antibiotics had been submitted to a pharmacy that I had never used in the past. And I had never used this pharmacy because they didn't accept my insurance. I contacted the office multiple times and was told the mistake would be corrected. Since the script had not been properly submitted by the day of the surgery I mentioned it again, both to the OR prep nurse and Dr Wilkes. I was assured the meds would be available post op. But they were not. Since the surgery was on a Friday (don't ever have surgery on a Friday) I was forced to go the weekend without meds. On Monday I contacted the office 3 times and was told the messages would be relayed to Dr. Wilkes. But Monday evening the pain had become so bad that I required a trip to Sutter Roseville ER. (See attached pic) The ER provider submitted the script for pain meds and antibiotics immediately. After a couple of months post op and still experiencing intense pain in my right foot I question Dr. Wilkes as to the surgical procedure that he had performed. He assured me the "joint replacement" had been successful and that it would take a few more months before I would have any relief. After seeing Dr Wilkes multiple times and getting the same explanation re. the surgery I decided to see a different podiatrist. Upon the first visit this new podiatrist scheduled an MRI of my right foot. Long story short, the MRI did not show that the joint had been replaced. The doctor mentioned that she was unable to determine what had been done during the surgery by Dr. Wilkes. She also mentioned that the joint was "destroyed" and that a second surgery would be required to fuse what was left of the joint in question. There are other negatives associated with my treatment from Dr. Wilkes but I'll skip over those to keep this review as brief as possible. If you're considering surgery with Dr. Craig Wilkes I would definitely advise to seek a second opinion.

I am now reading reviews on yelp and google of other people's experience and seeing that excessive overbilling is common with this office. Visited Apr 16th for broken toe, they charged $500 (receipt) and said they would bill insurance then reimburse. Received a bill for another $114 which claims I have not paid $0 for services rendered after my insurance was applied. When you call the office, forwards to voicemail during business hours and to email pace5@surewest.com, if you send them email, it is blocked by google. I was told after they collect $500 as a prepayment they would process my insurance claim within the next two business days and reimburse me. It is now June and I am receiving a bill for services that I nearly paid 5x over out of pocket and they are unresponsive. Dr. Shoemaker also recommended surgery within 2 days of my visit at the outpatient center in roseville, but the surgery was cancelled due to the fact his office would not disclose the surgeon or pathology fees, requiring that I would cover the surgery in full. Even though my insurance provider is in network and they put in the claim for the appointment I did attend over a month a half later, after collecting cash payment from me 5x the anticipated cost. He told me he is selling the practice, understandably his staff may be busier than usual, but it is unethical to collect excessive payments and become unresponsive when reimbursement is due.
