Perfect place to experience that 'being-yelled-at-by-someone-without-a-highschool-diploma' charm. One bartendress was super pleasant and easy to deal with. The other was super rude for no apparent reason. Like, I was placing my order and she walked away mid sentence because I didn't say it fast enough. I asked for a beer sample and she poured me a shot of foam then slammed it down at me. Scolded us for a few other things, I don't know, maybe some are into that stuff. Friends and I enjoyed the Jenga w/ dares on the pieces. On a hot day, be warned that there is no AC, and the downstairs billiards arena was piping hot due to the nearby taco kitchen. Really cute dive bar. Has comfy booths and a nice patio. Reasonably priced beer, and a good happy hour. Food orders are cash only but delicious and well worth the price! The cook there is a such a nice guy too, very friendly, and you can tell he puts alot of tender, love and care into his work. Went in 30 minutes before closing for one shot with my bachelorette party. Two of us are current or former bar tenders and the older later working Friday night was unnecessarily rude. The bar did not have the liquor to make the shots and we needed to adjust our order. She was not able to handle the change and displayed the worst customer Service. I found this place after living in the neighborhood for two weeks. Walking home from dinner, my dive-bar sensor went off when I passed the Streamline Tavern sign. Stepping inside gives you the full effect. Various sources of dim lighting highlight a few booths alongside a giant island bar. Comfortably crowded with regulars for a Monday night but still plenty of open seats. I snagged a bar stool next to the old-school jukebox. I'll visit again just to flip through that, at least. The service is excellent and the crowd is warm. I love neighborhood dive bars and this one fits the bill perfectly. Can't wait to try out the pool table. read more

Grabbed a beer here before a concert at KeyArena. It was the perfect find. Busy! But we were served quick by the solo bartender and were able to grab a little booth table. Games were available so played a couple rounds of Jenga before we had to bolt to the show and the old school jukebox rocked out some great tunes. I am quite shocked that this place has so many great reviews. On our visit to Seattle, we were wandering around town and decided to drop in to the Streamline Tavern due to the overwhelmingly great yelp reviews in addition to the one dollar sign- I am a sucker for a good deal. It was a Saturday evening and at 6:30pm there were some people enjoying drinks and conversation, but it was not incredibly busy. We were surprised to see that we had made it just in time for happy hour. I claimed the table while my friends ordered drinks. While they were ordering drinks, I got a bad feeling about the bartender. She appeared to be rude, giving them fake half smiles. I wasn't sure if she was acting this way because we weren't locals (it was clear that most people in the bar were) or if it was because she didn't like foreigners (I was with a German and two Finns). In any case, we sat down and were excited to see games about the place. We decided to play a game of chess. At about 6:55pm we realized we were practically out of beverages and Happy Hour was about to end, so my boyfriend went to the bar to order a pitcher of beer. The bartender then proceeded to tell him he had to wait while she wiped glasses down. I decided I would give it a go at the bar. The bartender chatted with the woman next to me before taking her order (clearly a local) and by the time she came back to me she informed me Happy Hour had ended. I then informed her that it was because she was wasting time chatting with the woman next to me and again she put on her condescending smile and said, "Yeah." When she asked if I still wanted the beer, I declined and we received our checks. We proceeded to finish our game of chess, however. Once our game ended we walked down the street to McMenamin's where prices weren't that different and we enjoyed more beer and food. The prices weren't bad and the games were cool (only reason I gave this place two stars), but service sucked. read more

I was not a regular at the old Streamline on Mercer, but I had enjoyed it on several occasions. Last night, I met up with two friends who WERE regulars at the old spot, and who both were extremely pleased with the new venue. Apparently, the Streamline moved much of it's original bar equipment, furniture and decor to Roy St. and captured the exact same Streamline vibe in a very different type of building. The regulars were pleased, and that says a lot. Unfortunately, they still don't serve food (though a bowl of peanuts was a nice touch). Outside food deliveries were recommended by the bartender instead. read more

I have something really important I need to get off my chest. We were just at Streamline, sitting at a booth. We really enjoyed our meal. The bartender even gave us a free 3/4 pitcher because the keg blew in the middle of pouring it. But here's the thing. The bartender let us know they were changing shifts, so I went up and left a (generous) tip on the bar. But he didn't see it, and I felt awkward hovering around the bar, so I sat back down. And then when he finally came to pick up the tip, he looked at some jerks at the corner of the bar like they had left it! And they just took the credit for it! So then I'm left sitting in the corner like an idiot. And then the kindly turtlenecked bartender comes by and clears our table, clearly looking for a tip that he didn't realize he had already received! I mean, I get it being disappointed that we didn't leave a tip since he had been so, so kind to us, but we had! And what am I supposed to do? Tell him, hey, that tip you got earlier, that was me? No, I can't do that! This was a very upsetting situation for me. We considered leaving another tip, but then he would definitely think that we hadn't left a tip originally and we'd look like late-tipping jerks AND only get credit for half the tip we had left! I mean, there was no good solution. It was terrible. Ok, and then it gets worse. Because we sent another member of our party to go talk to the friendly guy in the kitchen and see if he could explain the situation to the bartender. He decides that the best way to do that is to tip the guy. But then the bartender sees us tip the kitchen guy when he thinks we didn't tip him! My friend was so flustered that he just hightailed it out of there and we ended up looking like even bigger jerks. This whole ordeal was obviously very upsetting. The food and service were both admirable, but I'm afraid I can't possibly ever return out of shame. SHAME WHICH I DO NOT DESERVE. read more

If you are not a regular don't bother coming here. You will be treated like second class customers. The bartender did not greet or acknowledge us while we sat at the bar. We had to get up to order our drinks each time while the regular customers were served (they all seemed to know the bartenders by name). Been going to the Streamline for 35 years. That makes me one of the regulars. This is a neighborhood bar. People know each other, have potlucks and birthday parties. You will notice that Seattle natives give the 5 star reviews. If you want a true Seattle experience this is the place. TERRIBLE service. I gave this place 2 stars, because I liked the ambience. I waited in line for 15 min to order food, and wasn't even acknowledged. You order food (or try to) downstairs, away from the bar and main seating area. It's kind of concession style, so I was in line behind one person. I don't have a problem with waiting for food, but having to stand in line for 15min without any acknowledgement is unacceptable. The dude working the food stand was taking each person's order, then making the food then taking the next person's order. I would have probably stood in line for 30 min if I had stayed. I went to Dick's instead and came back to the bar. I get that you're probably "too punk" to give a shit about your customers, but that attitude is not going to sustain your business. Overall fun place, good atmosphere. I was a bit shocked though after everyone raves about the good prices. I went and ordered a well G&T expecting to pay $5 I go to pay my tab and get charged $9. I truly enjoy several aspects of this bar: casual neighborhood vibe, div bar intentions, etc. I just can't get by the shity service. If you're not a regular don't expect to get served or even acknowledged. First time had to wave the bar tender down to ask for a drink. After sitting in front of her not too busy bar for about ten minutes. She seemed surprised to see us there..benefits of legal pot in Seattle? Tonight was even worse. After witnessing the bartender evict an Hispanic customer because she "couldn't understand what he was ordering" ( I should have walked then), I was simply ignored. Meanwhile regulars at the bar were served ahead of me and other folks waiting to be served. I am a bartender and totally get the "triage" approach to a busy room...this was just rude and clueless. Head on in if you want to be abused. Go elsewhere if you want anything resembling service. Mecca is a great dive bar alternative nearby. My wife and I went to this tavern for the 1st time last evening. I was starving for some tavern type food. My experiences at Taverns has always been great until last evening. I sat at the bar when I walked in and was there for about more 6 minutes and then left. My waitress - a tall woman never even looked my way. I was close enough to touch her and she never even looked in my direction as she went to serve one man on the other side of the bar. Then she walk by me looking in the opposite direction and spoke to 3 other people who cam after me. She walked by me again and looked up at a guy who had just came in from the streets and asked if she could help him. I did not want her to pass me by again and go and wait on the 3 people that she had spoken to earlier who also came in several minutes after I arrived. So my wife and I left. She never even looked in my direction. I knew if I stayed longer and she disrespected me further I would say something so we left. I don't mind blunt, I don mind "no frills" - in fact I appreciate it - but to ignore and act like I don't exist - is not acceptable. I felt like I was in the Deep south at a Walgreens drugstore counter waiting to be served. read more
