Some out of town friends recently introduced us to this business and I was flabbergasted that I wasn't aware of it! It's a brilliant little tasting room and record shop all in one. Plus they will play the music of your choice why you sip their delicious wines. The atmosphere is very clean and modern and so close to other favorite downtown Petaluma shops and restaurants. Finally made it into the Montagne Russe (meaning rollercoaster in French) tasting room in downtown Petaluma! Upon walking it, it was seemingly busy and poppin' for a Saturday afternoon (that's what I like to see)! Grabbed a seat at the high top tables (seating also available at the bar, back recorded room, and a small couch when walking in). Options are 2 different tasting flights (they have 2 different labels) or by the glass. Was able to mix and match the two flights to personalize it (very accommodating) and throughly enjoyed everything. Only negative thing was due to the business, it was quite loud. Service got a bit slow since they were busy, but that happens when only one person is working, so just be patient. A great spot for a mid-day wine sip, something downtown Petaluma needed. New wine tasting room in Petaluma, with a spin, they spin records as well. They had a grand opening on July 12th. They served their sparkling brut Rose and plenty of Pinot Noir, all from Sonoma County, Sonoma Coastal, & Petaluma Gap appellation. One that stood out to us was the 2022 Dragons Back Pinot Noir. A classic tasty Pinot. They went all out and offered tasty bites that really enhanced their wines. They used to be in Healdsburg at Bacchus Landing a much larger location but not centrally located so moving to historical downtown Petaluma gives them an opportunity to attract a larger audience especially since their wines are sourced from the cooler Sonoma county region. What a fine job of remodeling the tasting room. I don't know how they did it but somehow the place seems wider and larger than the previous tasting room at this location. They opened the back with some large gathering tables and their vast selection of records is housed in the back as well. They added some small tables throughout the space. It's easy to maneuver. They also allow guests to bring food inside, so you can sip, sit, nosh & listen to some tunes. There are plenty of eateries around so it's any easy stop. As I write this review I'm reminiscing how well their Sparkling Brut Rose and Dragons Back Pinot Noir went so well with a prosciutto sandwich they offered at their grand opening. California's wine country has made its presence known in the heart of California's cheese country! Located in the heart of downtown Petaluma, the Montagne Russe tasting room is the newest tasting room in Petaluma taking over from where Black Knight Vineyards recently had a tasting room. Montagne Russe's full name is Montagne Russe Winery and Record Lounge, and it is exactly what it is, as it is part wine tasting room and part vinyl record store with hundreds of new and pre-used classic record albums for sale. What a perfect place to sip great wine while enjoying hit tracks from the past. Montagne Russe pours some of the nicest wines sourced from across Sonoma County, especially the nearby Petaluma Gap, making this newest tasting venue an ideal spot to soak in the atmosphere while supporting a local business. We've visited Montagne Russe before when their tasting room was at Bacchus Landing in Healdsburg, and while it was a beautiful space, it wasn't always busy. So it's no surprise they made the move to downtown Petaluma this past year. We'd been wanting to check out their new location since they opened over the summer, and finally got the chance during a recent weekend afternoon. With lively crowds outside, parking was harder to come by, as the recommended Keller Street Garage was completely full, but a short walk from the River Plaza parking lot did the trick. Even though we had reservations, we didn't end up needing them when we arrived, but the tasting room was full by the time we left. Winemaker and owner Kevin Bersofsky greeted us with a complimentary splash of their 2022 Sparkling Brut Rosé which had subtle hints of citrus throughout. From there, I enjoyed their Library tasting while my friend enjoyed their Signature tasting, both of which were offered at 35 dollars a person. For our second tasting, I enjoyed their 2019 Silver and Gold Chardonnay while my friend enjoyed their 2023 Roberts Road Chardonnay. My tasting of the Chardonnay tasted as it it was lower in alcohol, but higher in acid than my friend's Chardonnay, but both tasted wonderful. For our third pour, we enjoyed their signature Pinot Noirs, we me enjoying their vintage from 2019 and my friend sipped on their 2022 vintage, which were both sourced from Black Knight Vineyard, of which their wine tasting room they replaced in downtown Petaluma. For our fourth pour, I enjoyed their 2021 Terra De Promissio Pinot Noir, while my friend enjoyed their 2022 "Quatre Cinq Un" Pinot Noir, for both of these wines, the tannins were not too overpowering but you could definitely taste them. For our fifth and final pour, I enjoyed their 2018 Robert's Road Pinot Noir, which had hints of baking spices and cherries, while my friend enjoyed their 2021 Alder Springs Syrah, which was lush and silky smooth. For 70 dollars, not including gratuity, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon of wine tasting. When we made our reservation, there was a note about being able to bring in takeout from nearby restaurants, though it never came up once we began our tasting and honestly, we were too focused on the wines to think about food. As the afternoon went on, the crowd grew significantly, and at times it felt like we got a bit lost in the shuffle when it came to service. Still, we made the most of our visit and thoroughly enjoyed both the wines and the people-watching. With Montagne Russe still relatively new to the downtown Petaluma community, I can easily see them thriving here for a long time to come. read more

I first visited this space when it was the Black Knight Vineyards tasting room. When I heard Montagne Russe took it over, it's been on my list to check out and thankfully, I recently had the opportunity to do so. They've completely transformed the space, for the better IMO. It now has a brighter, more modern and clean aesthetic, and was quite busy when I stopped in so it had a great, lively energy. In the back, there are thousands of records for sale at very reasonable prices so if you're a collector, stop in, grab a glass of wine, and go peruse - you'll have an absolute blast! The staff were all knowledgeable and lovely, including of course, winemaker Kevin, whom you'll see occasionally at the tasting room pouring wines. Montagne Russe makes a number of different wines from Pinot to Chardonnay, to Rhône varietals like Grenache and Syrah, so there is likely to be something for everyone to enjoy here. I mostly drink Pinot and Chardonnay at home so I opted for their Montagne Russe tasting, which included two Chardonnays and three Pinots. Their other tasting (Poët-Laval) focuses more on Rhône varietals. All of the wines were great - a bit of a richer style with slightly higher alcohol levels across the board than I typically drink, but well balanced and very enjoyable. One thing that I thought was interesting and different from most other Chardonnay producers in the area is that Kevin does not typically do full malolactic fermentation, which leaves some of the sharper malic acid behind and really gives the wines a perceived lift in acidity. One thing to keep in mind is that they don't serve any food, but thankfully, they welcome you to bring your own food in from nearby restaurants to enjoy. One of our favorite local wineries has relocated from Healdsburg to Petaluma and set up shop on Petaluma Boulevard North. When we saw an Insta for their upcoming wine pickup event with charcuterie and paella we were all in. When we arrive the party was in full swing with great tunes, killer paella and an amazing spread of bread and cheese. Staff were, as always, friendly and helpful, pour their whole menu of amazing local juice. Favorites were the Dragon Back Pinot and the Syrah. This place should definitely be a stop on any wine lovers tour of Sonoma. read more

Montagne Winery, Healdsberg, CA - September 19, 2024 We arrived on a Thursday at about noon. Montagne Winery is located at the Bacus Landing complex, which is a destination in and of itself. Yelp had a 10% off purchase coupon for Montagne, so we decided to taste here. Our server's name was Whitney. She was a very friendly and knowledgeable wine server. She has received employee of the month 22 times as of this writing. One of the cool things about this tasting room is they have an amazing vinyl record collection. They also sell records. The tasting room is spacious and inviting and they do play music on their high fidelity stereo turntable. They have a classic wine tasting and a reserve wine tasting. The classic wine tasting is $30 for five wines and the reserve is $35. We tried one of each. We had a couple of Chardonnays, several Pinot Noirs, a Sarah, and a Cabernet Sauvignon. All the wines were tasty. They also do brut champagne. Wine tasting fee is waived with a purchase of three bottles. read more

We love visiting Montagne Russe! Our first time visiting was actually last year for an Elite event at Bacchus Landing, a wine collective with multiple wonderful wineries, and we especially loved Montagne Russe that we got a wine membership! It was our second time visiting recently and the winery had such a cool event going on! They were doing an event called Pink & Paws and were serving wine, snacks, and had the cutest photo booth for puppies to stage at! When we arrived, we were greeted by Whitney, who has taken care of us previously. She's bubbly and energetic and made sure we were always taken care of the entire event, checking in with us regularly for refills and snacks. We also ran into Kevin, the winemaker, who was super friendly and welcomed us back. The winery has a focus on Syrah and Pinot Noir, but also has other styles of wine too. Many of their wines are very easy to drink, and the Syrah always surprises me with its drinkability. As mentioned, Montagne Russe is one of our favorite wineries in Sonoma. "Rollercoaster of love, Oh yeah it's rollercoaster time" Montagne Russe is French for Rollercoaster! Winemaker, Kevin, is an engineer who designed rollercoasters - how cool is that?! Hence the fabulous rollercoaster mural on the wall in their tasting room. And their delicious single-vineyard wines are clearly made with love and careful attention! I went to Bacchus Landing (a beautiful wine collective) for the Labor Day celebration last weekend and we started our day at Montagne Russe, one of the tasting rooms there. We enjoyed the delicious and generous Russe Classic Tasting ($25): Rosé, Chardonnay, a few Pinots, and Syrah! Owner & Winemaker Kevin greeted us and told us his story. And then the fabulously friendly and warm tasting room Manager, Whitney, served our tasting. We sat out on their beautiful patio, adjacent to their open-air tasting room, both off of the central Bacchus Landing courtyard. We enjoyed all of the wines but especially the fresh, crisp French-style Rosé (we could truly drink this Rosé All Day!) and the Sonoma Coast Pinot - took home a couple bottles of each! The tasting room and patio are both welcoming, bright, clean, and thoughtfully decorated (check out the single-slab, live-edge table, and their gorgeous glassware!). Montagne Russe is dog-friendly! If you want a great Healdsburg tasting room experience with truly EXCEPTIONAL wines, I highly recommend checking out Montagne Russe (French for "rollercoaster") located at Bacchus Landing (a gorgeous wine tasting destination)! Montagne Russe specializes in small-production wines from cool-climate regions (think Petaluma Gap and Sonoma Coast AVAs). Their Pinots are gorgeous and (winemaker) Kevin Bersofsky's Syrahs are simply beautiful. They also have chardonnay, rosé, cab, and, currently, a fun white blend of Pinot gris & white Pinot noir: all delicious! The wines are truly top-notch and very reasonably priced (of course, if you join a club you'll enjoy discounted wines throughout the year; they have some awesome club offerings). The wine flights are lovely - can't go wrong with whatever you choose. The tasting room was put together with a lot of love and eye for detail! Modern and sleek, yet so comfortable. The rollercoaster mural that spans across much of the interior of the tasting room is absolutely stunning. The outdoor seating area, with colorful umbrellas & furnishings everywhere, is just the place you want to be on a warm afternoon! Lots of room at the bar or other hip lounge areas. They have a cool turntable and lots of fun vinyl, too - so the vibe is really upbeat! BONUS: They are very DOG FRIENDLY! What an amazing location/ambience! Was beyond impressed with my experience visiting Montagne Russe. Enjoyed the Classic Tasting on a Thursday at noon and had the entire patio to ourselves. Shout out to Whitney for sharing excellent wine knowledge, and also for being a really cool human. The ambience was very chic but still inviting, with intentional and quality decor and glassware. They have some pretty spectacular pinots, but the dragons back was my absolute favorite. If you're a fan of higher elevation/coastal pinots, you will be very happy here! They allow you to bring in food; which is awesome if you are planning to try other wineries at Bacchus landing. Also, there is a market selling snacks located within the shared plaza! Montagne ruuse is such a an amazing local find. The sparkling Brite rose was such a group favorite. I brought a group of bachelorette party girls as our final spot and so lovely and welcoming. Whitney was so well educated and helpful on all the wines and the story's behind it. It was a casual fun spot with great music. They have a great selection of albums and records. My colleagues and I had the pleasure of visiting yesterday afternoon for their Industry Night and we all came away so impressed, excited and appreciative of the entire tasting experience: the hospitality, excellent wines, and comfortable setting. The vinyl collection was such a bonus find and we came home with wine, records and gratitude for the welcoming experience offered by Whitney and Jennifer. Easiest 5 stars I've ever given. This was our first winery of the weekend and it set the bar high. Whitney was our host and she took time explaining the intricacies of each wine we tasted and helped us figure out exactly what types of wines were our favorite! What a great NEW addition to the wine scene in Healdsburg / Dry Creek Valley area! A group of us tried out the newly opened tasting room at Bacchus Landing, quite close to the Central Healdsburg off ramp of US1. Not only is the space decorated in a cool Retro/"Scandi" vibe, with a fabulous outdoor patio and AMAZING mural, but it's also dog friendly. The bar area and gorgeous solid-wood tables are great spots to chat with the team, whilst sipping some of the best Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, Syrahs and more. As you can see from the pics, we had to try selfies in front of the Rollercoaster mural...... Whitney or Kevin can explain the relevance of a wooden roller coaster at a wine tasting venue :-) We tasted a fabulous Rosé, moved onto a few Pinot's and ended with a Cab Sauv, lounging on the mid century styled couches, listening to The Beatles and Kim Wilde albums - a perfect afternoon in my opinion, and one that I cannot wait to repeat! read more

When in wine country, you always want to squeeze in one more tasting, but where? Usually these decisions aren't the best, but when you are feeling the juice, its sounds like a great idea....but this one turned out to be the PERFECT call! Stumbled into Montagne Russe and told them to wow me, and they did! Apparently they just opened this tasting room, but it was shocking as it felt so welcoming. We were welcomed by Whitney, who ran us through all there wines, from Pinot to Syrah, they had it all. No 35 different wines here, I think maybe 8 or so, but all of them were so tasty. I think we bought like 5 bottles among the group. Yes, I know what your thinking, where they as tasty when we opened them a few weeks later...and YES! So happy to have discovered the newly opened Montagne Russe wine tasting rooms in Healdsburg! Not only did I love tasting some incredible Pinot Noirs, but the look and feel of the place is super cool. I really enjoy the fact that it's dog friendly and can't wait to visit with my boy soon. The outdoor space is great with loads of umbrellas, and shaded gondolas, but we ended up crashing on cool couches, listening to retro albums, and enjoying learning more about the different wines that they have. Many wines you taste in California can have the same taste and style.  Montague Russe does not fit that mold and you will be able to tell that you are drinking a Montague Russe versus what other California winemakers have to offer.  Kevin, the winemaker, has been focusing on Chardonnays, Rose, Pinot Noir, and Syrah for many years.  All of them are excellent. Recently we had the privilege to attend the grand opening of their tasting room and had a wonderful time.  Their room is not far from the main road as you head north on 101 into Healdsburg .  The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable.   Their room is spacious and has a vibe where you would feel comfortable hanging out if you want to take things easy. They are also dog friendly.  Kevin, the owner and winemaker is very approachable, friendly, and happy to put on a tune on the turntable. So impressed on the first visit. This spring release party was a let down. It was not crowded, plenty of spots to sit inside and out and room at the tasting bar. Several times I was waiting with bewildered others for the next tasting and the staff looked preoccupied and uninterested. Basically had to flag the person standing right in front of me down. Owner, Kevin, was one of them. He gave me a pour and not a mention of what he was pouring or any comment at all. plenttttty of wine! was promised and the pours were the minimum I have actually ever seen. The food spread looked marginal and we had bland cheeses (delicious rosemary crackers) and tried the days old dried out chocolate chip brownies. What a shame because while the wine is pretty good we will focus on other wineries where we feel welcome. read more
