I contacted Terry Madsen at High Street Automotive through Yelp. Terry asked me to send the failed test report to him, and convinced me the sensor most likely are good. I just needed a proper drive to reset the sensors. I listened to him and drove the car follow the suggested driving pattern for ~40 miles. It passed! I most appreciated is the he offered his expert opinion without charge. Terry was not only just asked questions online. He went to extra miles ask me to send test report through email he gave to me during online exchange. It is rare nowadays.

This was clearly caused by their negligence and I had a kid in my car who was very scared. When I returned, instead of fixing their mistake, they claimed they had no availability and said they could repair it next week leaving me without any vehicle for the whole weekend. Breaking something during service and then asking the customer to wait for the whole weekend to fix it is beyond ridiculous. Completely unprofessional and irresponsible.

Jack personally went next door to check on my car, and offered me 10% off repairs. I was told I could drop my car off the next day without needing another appointment. I met Sal, who has such a wonderful and charming personality, and it was great to meet Jack in person, too. Within an hour, I had the full analysis and estimate, and around 2:30, a couple of hours before closed, I was called and told the car wouldn't be finished, and asked if I'd like to come pick it up for the weekend (which I declined, we didn't need it!). The prices were fair, and their system of telling you what absolutely needs work versus what they recommend to be worked on was so great in helping me understand what was wrong with the car. My experience with them made me tell my husband that I'd drive to them if we ever moved out of the area. I can't recommend this place enough (just make sure you drive all the way to the green building and dont let anyone stop you like I did!)

At the end of each day, they cleaned up and put away the tools so the house was still accessible. It's crazy how different the house looks compared to before. I'm just loving it! Then over the winter, Chris' team returned because I wanted my garage refinished. I had 70s paneling and broken/crumbling dry wall. Considering how much time I spend in my garage, I can't believe I lived with such an eye sore for so many years. I gave Chris the hard task of wanting smooth walls, and if you know...that's a whole lot of sanding. His team came through and delivered! I love the new paint color on the walls, and no longer despise my garage. Oh, and also want to mention that he also patched up a bunch of holes inside my house (from electrical work I had done) and matched the existing wall texture and paint. You can't even tell the difference. Overall, Chris is amazing to work with. He's super responsive via text/calls. I went a few weeks ago for a stem valve replacement which was a $12 part. They try charging me $260 because labor was $240! Talk about being "stress free!" Ended up taking it to Fremont Tires and wheels and they did it for $40. Second time I come to Stress Free Auto Care and both times I've backed out due to their ridiculous pricing. Both times I've received same work and saved hundreds at other Fremont shops. Even when I told the mechanic what they were trying to charge me he just shook his head as well. The guy in the office told me it would take them at-least an hour to do when it only took 15 minutes at the other shop. I had gotten my truck towed there since It was convenient for me since I lived down the street from this shop, but I ended up having to drive my truck on low pressure to the other shop. Had a major failure on the freeway pulled over to google and Stress Free was the closest. THEY NAILED IT!!! From the second I walked in my high stress situation seemed to melt into manageable tasks. Yes I had some serious car problems. Yes it was going to cost me. And most importantly Yes they were on my side to find the best solution for me. They crisis managed not just my vehicle but also my financial situation and my own self. Erik was beyond courteous and professional he was absolutely human and gracious with his humor and patience for all quests. We started going to Bob's around 1998 after buying a 1969 Chevy pickup truck. It was only $1,500 and we knew we would have to put money into it. I looked Bob up and took it in for a checkout and tuneup. When I had extra money I would bring it back and ask him to do something on my list of things I wanted. After being told, more than once, "It doesn't need it" I realized I had found an honest shop. Over the years it has only got better. We have used him for 3 Chevys, a Lincoln Continental, a Mitsubishi 3000GT, and Lincoln Aviator. Best of all, I have never taken a car back for something done wrong. I had been a long-time customer of the previous shop owner at this location and Steve, the mechanic, had always done excellent work and taken care of any repairs necessary. i went in for an oil change. I received a very comprehensive report with photos of many parts of my vehicle. Omar found a very loose bolt which could have potentially caused a lot of damage and fixed it free of charge. Eric was very friendly and made sure to explain the report and findings thoroughly. I took my Honda CRV here after being told by Firestone that it had all these issues. The people here are stellar. They inspected my car and found only a third of what Firestone was saying. The pricing was also very reasonable for the work being done. Israr helped me get set up and brought me to the back to check out my car and to tell me what they did. I walked in and asked for a quote for my WRX, a clutch and hydraulic replacement, and was given an estimate of over $6,000! After doing some research and checking with local Subaru specialists such as PM Autoworks, I found that TL's pricing was nearly double the market rate for both parts and labor. Unfortunately, TL Auto quoted $4,242.99 just for the clutch replacement, WITHOUT a flywheel resurface or a flywheel. PM Autoworks quoted $2,058.09 for the same job WITH an OEM flywheel. In my case, TL Auto is applying HUGE markups on basic OEM hardware. For example, TL auto charges $942.87 JUST for a "Genuine" clutch flywheel, AND $948.94 for a clutch kit, which comes out to $1,891.81 for BOTH. Fortunately, PM Autoworks charges $921.68 for BOTH the OEM clutch and OEM flywheel, and other parts that make up a clutch kit are also included in the price. TL quoted over $1,700 for the replacement of the master/slave cylinders. I was able to source the high-quality Japanese OEM parts (Seiken/Nabtesco) from PartsGeek for $280.10, and PM Autoworks charges 2 hours of labor (inquired after the quote) instead of the 4+ hours implied by TL's quote. By going to PM Autoworks instead of TL Auto, I am saving an HONEST $4,000 for the same work!! In my case, the price difference isn't just a few hundred dollars--it's thousands! If you work hard for your money, I strongly recommend that anyone, especially Subaru owners, AVOID the "general repair" markups at TL Auto. (See attached photos for proof of the price gap.) *** UPDATE*** Just got the work done (and then some) on my WRX by PM Auto. For all the work performed, the total was UNDER $3k! (Invoice in picture). It only took them 6 hours--straight up skills. TL Auto claims their pricing "reflects the quality of parts we use and the confidence we have in the work performed." That's fine, but high quality shouldn't be an excuse to charge an absurd markup for "exceptional service." They also claim their pricing includes complimentary rideshare and free loaner vehicles, yet a friend of mine who had work done there was never offered those services. Let's get one thing straight, PartsGeek is one of the BEST places to get OEM parts at a respectable price. Just because they are a "discount website" doesn't mean they aren't an equivalent comparison. They sell the exact same parts without the massive markup. Some businesses, like TL Auto, clearly don't like it when customers do their research and shop smart. Even more telling: TL Auto failed to admit they overcharged on their estimate for the SAME OEM parts that PM Auto sourced directly from the dealership. I'm sharing this to be transparent about my experience. I don't want others to be robbed by shops like this. I will never take my cars back there, and I'll be advising everyone I know to stay away as well. (Final invoice in the pictures)
